Grand Prairie police on Wednesday announced the arrest of 23-year-old Daniel Deshawn Neal.

Here in Texas, the death penalty is reserved for the most vile animals who commit capital murder. The following crimes are considered capital murder in Texas:
- murder of a public safety officer or firefighter
- murder during the commission of kidnapping, burglary, robbery, aggravated sexual assault, arson, or obstruction or retaliation
- murder for remuneration
- murder during prison escape
- murder of a correctional employee
- murder by a state prison inmate who is serving a life sentence for any of five offenses (murder, capital murder, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault, or aggravated robbery)
- multiple murders
- murder of an individual under six years of age.
I’m in favor of expanding the death penalty for the most depraved of crimes against innocent victims, even if the crime does not result in a death.

Woman, 78, sexually assaulted and set on fire
GRAND PRAIRIE— A 78-year-old woman was sexually assaulted and set on fire in her home by a man who may have been selling magazines, Grand Prairie police said.
The woman, not identified by police, is recovering at a Dallas hospital from second-degree burns from her chin to her stomach, Grand Prairie detective John Brimmer said.
She allowed the man inside her home in the Dallas suburb Monday afternoon after he said he was doing a communications exercise that would help him get into college, Brimmer said. He told her that he earned more points by talking to more people, Brimmer said.
He said he was a 22-year-old from Chicago named “Daniel” who was living in a local motel, Brimmer said.
But then he attacked her, poured rubbing alcohol on her chest and set her on fire, the detective said.
This poor old woman. Raped and then set on fire. Hopefully her body will heal. Hopefully the animal that did this to her will be caught.
And since he would not be eligible for the death penalty under current Texas law, I hope police shoot him to death in the act of apprehending him. And I hope he dies slowly and painfully.

This is absolutely heartbreaking. May God bless and heal this poor woman who has endured such unspeakable horrors at the hands of another so-called human being. I hope and pray that she has family who will surround her at this time with boundless amounts of love and comfort — she is going to need an ocean of it in order to overcome her injuries (physical, mental AND spiritual).
There are simply NO mitigating circumstances whatsoever which could ever even partially “explain” away the perpetrator’s actions in such a brutal crime, yet we will, undoubtably, be hearing from those who wish to defend the “poor” brute who assaulted this frail, elderly woman.
May he be caught soon before he assaults — and most likely kills — any more innocent victims.
Appalling.

The monster that did this is unworthy of being called a man.
No words can describe the feelings that are running through my body right now. I agree no one should be treated that way and I hope that she has caring people surrounding her during her time of need. That worthless coward needs to have the same done to him.
I hope this brave lady is surrounded by loving family and friends. No one should have to suffer through something like this. I believe in an eye for an eye….this guy should have his parts removed and then he should be set on fire….I wouldn’t even spit on him while he was burning.
Hell will be plenty hot for this guy.
I have had these magazine selling fools try to tell me the same thing. And I darn sure don’t let them in my house. Most of these young people don’t appear to be the “college type”.

Update: I heard earlier yesterday that she will make a full recovery and that they caught the scum that did this!

It may or may not come as a surprise to anybody — but this thug is from Chicago, and witnesses said he was wearing a “Change you can believe in” t-shirt.
She may, but she has physicially suffered and will continue to physically suffer for quite a while.
Unfortunately, this crap happens all the time. Neighborhood changes, elderly women who have lived there all their lives, often know thug, been nice to them, thug breaks in beats/rapes/robs them, then they take their time in murdering them.
