From Wikipedia, we learn that Socialism refers to “a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating public or state ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods.”

State ownership of the means of production.

Like when the Government takes over the means of production at…oh, I don’t know…an automobile manufacturer. Like…oh, I don’t know…General Motors…

Am I really the only person alarmed that the President of the United States is firing CEOs of private companies? And then promising to make tax payers pay for the warranties of all GM vehicles?

We don’t own any GM vehicles. Nor will we ever again. Ever. Which means that I am especially not thrilled about having to pay the warranty for those who did.

As Tabitha Hale notes:

So essentially, what we’re seeing is the government seizing the auto industry. The government is officially exercising the influence it bought up with the multi billion dollar bailouts.

Mark my words…Obama’s hostile takeover of GM is nothing more than a powerplay to turn over control of GM to the UAW. Call it a little consolation prize for all of their votes and donations.

We’re watching our government take over our banks. And our auto industry. Health care is likely next. And then oil and energy companies.

  1. There could be no better investment in America than to invest in America becoming energy independent! We need to utilize everything in out power to reduce our dependence on foreign oil including using our own natural resources. Create cheap clean energy, new badly needed green jobs and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.The high cost of fuel this past year seriously damaged our economy and society. The cost of fuel effects every facet of consumer goods from production to shipping costs. It costs the equivalent of 60 cents per gallon to charge and drive an electric car. If all gasoline cars, trucks, and SUV’s instead had plug-in electric drive trains the amount of electricity needed to replace gasoline is about equal to the estimated wind energy potential of the state of North Dakota. We have so much available to us such as wind and solar. Let’s spend some of those bail out billions and get busy harnessing this energy. Create cheap clean energy, badly needed new jobs and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. What a win-win situation that would be for our nation at large! There is a really good new book out by Jeff Wilson called The Manhattan Project of 2009 Energy Independence Now. http://www.themanhattanprojectof2009.com

  2. Sherry is symbolic of the greenies who seem to not know that alternative fuels have not been developed to be cost efficient yet. And the private sector, not the government is the best place to do that. When research shows that a product can be produced at high efficiency costs, it gets done.

And perhaps Sherry should read the study done by Professor of Economics in Spain that shows for every “green” job created in Spain it is at the cost of over $700K to the Spanish tax payer and loses 2.2 jobs for everyone created.

Wind power cost effective? Yeah, right. That’s why T. Boone Pickens cancelled his wind farms as soon as he learned that the federal government was not going to pay for them, although he (not the federal government) had a contract to sell $5 million worth of power to Dallas.

  3. I agree.

Government out of Detroit, US out of Iraq, etc. etc.

    Good post Robbie . . .

  4. Good post Robbie. I concur with Tom. When I saw this news, I told myself, this is TERRIFYING. Seriously. And with the government now moving to put severe restrictions on how produce is sold and farm animals are maintained, you can bet your a** that my industry, retail grocery, is up for seizure pretty damn soon as well. It’s scary. I thought when he was elected, how much harm can Obama do? Now I’m wondering just how long it’s going to be before BATF comes knocking on my door for my shotgun.

  5. [...] President Obama and the congressional sociocrats are pushing for health care legislation that will increase nationalization of the private sector to 10% of the economy – government has already initiated nationalization of the banking/financial sector as well as the auto maker industry.
