The NY Times has an article today on the constitutionality of wearing drooping drawers (I guess Obama hasn’t done anything particularly drool-worthy today).
You all know what they’re talking about; you’ve all seen young boys and (sadly) young men wearing their extra baggy jeans and shorts nearly beneath their ass, exposing their boxer shorts for all the world to see.
Apparently some communities have voted and passed laws making it illegal to wear your drawers to low as to expose your ass.
As to the legality of preventing kids from looking like asses:
Ms. Rousso, 48, looking uptown chic on the witness stand in a three-quarter-length embroidered jacket and a knit black dress by Ellen Tracy, conceded that sagging pants were not for her. They look “uncomfortable,” she said, and “comfort is very important in the things I wear.”
Still, the low-slung pants look is one that has gone from “tribal” to mainstream, she said, displaying pictures of the soccer star David Beckham, the teenage heartthrob Zac Efron, Prince Harry and others sporting it.
“It started out as an expressive concept, and it went mainstream,” Ms. Rousso said. “A lot of people picked up on it, with the social ramifications that went with it.”
In case you’re unsure of how I feel about kids who wear their drawers down around their asses — I think they’re freak’n morons. Which is exactly why I don’t think there should be any laws prohibiting them from wearing them.
It makes it a lot easier to pick out the morons and idiots around you when they wear such obivious markers.
Now, if we could only get the moron and idiot drivers to put bumper stickers on their cars. Something like “idiot on board” would be helpful (though I treat any car with an Obama sticker on it pretty much the same way as I would a “CAUTION: Idiot Behind the Wheel” sticker).

I really don’t care how you want to wear your trousers; just don’t walk into my business looking for a job dressed like that.
Two points….
When my generation (40-50 year olds) was growing up, showing your underwear was the most “uncool” thing you could do! Girls would actually laugh at you for showing your underwear. My how times have changed, and not for the good. Now it is considered “fashionable and hip” and even “sexy”. WTF?
Secondly…anyone want to bet it took the two clowns in the photo twice as long to fix their car problem as it would have taken you or me? After all when you have to stop what you are doing every minute or so to pull up your pants, it is going to take twice as long to do the work.
And how did all this start? It is called “jail house/prison chic”. It started because these kids are emulating prisoners. You see, in jail, you are not allowed to wear a belt and someone with baggy pants have a problem keeping their pants up where they belong.
It started with “gangsta” rap, and now has gone from the ridiculous to the insane. Now kids want to look like jailhouse inmates. Sounds like a lofty goal to me.
Perhaps our POTUS could start telling kids it is cool to dress for success and get an education instead of giving his daily “Look at me” press conference.
BBB: You forgot the most obvious — your friends would grab your underwear and give you a wedgie. You could end up not being able to have children! lol!
Technically, it’s a fashion – a dumb one and should not be illegal to wear walking down the street sans ass crack. School and home is a different story, however. And it’s been around for almost 20 years now.
Additionally, police love the style. lol! Try running wearing your pants like that.
I am always tempted to run up behind them and pull them the rest of the way down.
I have two teenagers. And I recently found out that “gangsta” is now synonomous with “cool”. As in, “Wow, that’s really gangsta!”
I have a couple of teenage girls and when they have friends over I always harass them about their pants (none wear them as low as the two in the picture). I always offer to loan them a belt. Usually when they come over the next time they attempt to keep them up. I’ll call them on it each time. I do agree that it makes it easier for the cops to catch the idiots when they are running down the street.
maybe we should produce those bumper stickers for you
see….if you’re going to spam…this is the way to do it!
Wouldn’t be such a bad idea, but I’d never be able to afford enough of them for all the idiots that deserve to have them on their cars.

Denis Leary hit on this years ago, about 5:04 in.
America. Love it or leave it.
I saw a kid the other day and he was in a hurry…but not quite running.
I thought something was odd about how he was holding his pants….and then I realized it was because he normally wore the waistband Below his butt when he stopped hurrying.
I’m sure he was clueless how idiotic he looked.
America. Pull up your pants.
Celebrate black culture.
Each generation has to be one over the top from the previous one. What will be next, tieing a rope around their manhood having it anchored around their necks exposed? Oops, don’t want to give those kids any idea’s.
The baggy pants thing can provide entertainment. Once when stopped at a light in Redwood City,CA. two young men hobbling through the cross-walk a little too fast, tripped over one another without enough sense to let go of their pants and went down infront of stopped traffic. The light turned green and one inpatient driver came around from the back of stopped traffic and nearly ran over one of the men still reeling from the pain of falling down. Some may not think that is funny, but when you are sitting there first in line with full view of this baggy pant mishap, it was damn funny!
I’m a teen and maybe I’m missing somthing here. When I pull up my shirt my underwear is exposed. My pants aren’t on the ground but that’s what all the fuss is about. I do have a belt on and I can tighten it to “wear” it hurts but then in a few minutes my underwear is sticking out of my tight pants. If I go a pants size smaller, well that just hurts because friction builds up and junk when I walk. So Maybe I’m missing somthing here. I think it’s gross how old people wear there pants so high with bunched up sweatpants and high socks and muffin tops and the shape of the butt exposed and golf like shoes. But I really don’t know how I can keep m underwear out! Maybe it’s the clothing companies or somthing. I don’t get it. It doesn’t seem like that easy of a choice. I’m to lazy to strap on a girdle.
THANK YOU I HATE THE BAGGY PANTS STYLE RAPPERS ARE NOT GOOD ROLE MODELS AND TELL ME HOW IS THAT COOL SHOWING YOUR UNDER WEAR AND WEARING YOUR PANTS DOWN TO YOUR SOCK IT’S JUST DIGUSTING
from what I understood, this “trend” started so that they could be affiliated with a gang, based on how low they wore their pants, and law enforcement wouldn’t realize. so it goes without saying that this is an indicator of a person of diminished mental caliber…
Will this stupid trend never die? I thought it was the height of retardation when I was in middle school in the early nineties and I still think it’s f**king dumb today.
It’s not even just gangstas and wiggers anymore. No. I see emo kids and hipsters and jocks doing it too!!
For Chrissake, it is not cool, it is not sexy, it does not make you rebellious or appear threatening. It makes you look like a slob who doesn’t know how to dress himself. Nobody wants to see your f**king underwear!!
PULL UP YOUR GODDAMN PANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
