If you’re too drunk to drive, you’re probably too drunk to run from the police. And you’re definitely too drunk to try to swim away from police:

A man was pronounced dead this morning after he tried to evade police and ended up drowning in a Beaumont canal.

Around 12:42 a.m. a Beaumont police officer attempted to pull over a suspected drunk driver in a red Silverado truck. The pickup stopped, but the driver took off as the officer approached, police said.

After a chase, the driver lost control and left the roadway, launching off the bank and into the Lower Neches River Valley Authority canal, according to police.

  1. If you are stupid enough to drink and then get behind the wheel of a vehicle, you deserve to drown. I’ m assuming from your post that he didn’t hurt anyone else so that is great.

  2. I knew somebody who thought the FBI was after him and tried to swim across a California Aquaduct. I never thought he was a big enough criminal for the FBI to care much about. Now, I wonder if he wasn’t just mentally ill and paranoid. Anyway, of course, he drowned.
