As a daily motorcycle rider, no driver scares me more than Texting-while-driving driver.

If you text while driving — whether it’s only once or if you’re a habitual texter — you are an absolute idiot.

I’ve been “this close” to pulling a texter out of their car through their window and beating them unconscious after being nearly run over by them while they’re busy checking their email instead of paying attention to what’s going on around them.

People who are texting-while driving are the most oblivious drivers on the road, and are going to end up killing a lot of people and causing a lot of unnecessary accidents unless laws are put into place to prohibit this idiocy.

REDDING, Calif. (AP) – A woman who crashed into a line of stopped vehicles while text-messaging on her cell phone has been sentenced to six years in a California prison for killing a woman in one of the vehicles.

Deborah Matis-Engle was sentenced Friday by a judge in Redding, Calif.

Investigators said Deborah Matis-Engle was speeding and text messaging when she slammed into the vehicles stopped at a construction zone in August 2007.

Shasta County prosecutor Stephanie Bridgett said the 49-year-old woman had paid several bills by cell phone in the moments before the crash.

She was in the middle of one of those transactions when she struck a vehicle that burst into flames, killing 46-year-old Petra Winn.

I think she got off light with 6 years.
