My dad, who served under General Patton in the 3rd Army during WWII, has always said that "the true heroes were those we left behind." I am glad that we have a day set aside to honor those brave souls who never made it home.

On another note, it is quite typical both of veterans who survived combat and those who served during times of peace to minimize their service in comparison to their fallen brethren. Yet it is imperative that we honor ALL veterans who have served, as all service men and women served with a readiness to put their lives on the line for their country. These veterans were no less brave than their fallen comrades.

To all of our current military members and to all of the veterans out there: Thank you and God bless you.

PLAYS GOLF?
Subject: Pool report 5/25/09

POTUS is, reportedly, golfing with Marvin Nicholson. No actual glimpses of the presidential golf game. Aides say POTUS paused at 3 p.m. to observe a moment of silence.
-----------

Just when I thought I couldn't stand this worthless piece of shit any longer, we've unearthed another rock layer.

January 20, 2013 cannot come soon enough.

I hope you and yours have a blessed Memorial Day, Robbie.
I will have a post up in the morning on Memorial Day.
It is difficult for me to be happy on this day, as the pain of so many lost in our short history, always exceeds my great pride for what they did for us, so we could live free.
It is the most solemn day of the year for me, and even have difficulty calling it a holiday.
