Writing at Real Clear Politics, Dick Morris makes the case as to why Nancy Pelosi is not long for her job as Speaker of the House:

It’s obvious that either Leon Panetta, Obama’s head of the CIA, or Nancy Pelosi, his party’s Speaker of the House, has to go. No administration can tolerate a permanent, public civil war between two such high-ranking officials.

Especially when their disagreement stems not from issues of policy but from matters of veracity and credibility, the battle must end in one of their resignations. You cannot have the head of the nation’s first line of defense against terrorism calling the Speaker of the House a liar and being attacked by her in turn.

Obviously, Obama cannot fire Panetta. First of all, he just appointed him. And second, to cave in to Pelosi (D-Calif.) would earn him the massive disrespect and disapproval of the very operatives on whom he must depend to keep the nation safe.

Read the entire thing..

Morris is right, though. One of them (Pelosi or Panetta) has to either back down completely, or one of them has to go.

The CIA ain’t backing down (’cause not only are they in the right, but they have the goods to prove it).

And Pelosi isn’t backing down (because she’s a narcissistic, dishonest, power-whore).

Obama hasn’t taken a public side in this dispute, and probably won’t (that would take somethings Obama doesn’t have: a backbone and integrity). But if he sides with Pelosi and fires Panetta, I’ll do naked jumping jacks in a busy interesction at rush hour in downtown Austin.

Oh, and in case you missed it, the spineless and corrupt Arlen Specter also chimed in to call the intelligence officials at the CIA a “bunch of liars”.

That’s not going to work out well for him. Look for some damning documents, memos, and possibly video tapes of Specter doing things he would rather us not know he was doing to be leaked to the media.

  1. While I agree with most of this…shouldn’t we be concerned that the CIA can “go after” politicians that fight them? One day the CIA may need to be challenged on something and I don’t want to have tacitly approved them blackmailing political opponents.

I have no love to spare for Nancy or Arlen and do believe the CIA is telling the truth. It seems like using the IRS to go after political opponents.

    • It seems like using the IRS to go after political opponents.

Not surprising, Uncle Obama has already joked about doing this. Of course, if he worked for the IRS he would be fired for his joke…but seeing how he only hires tax cheats…he’s exempt.

  2. I don’t know, the way the left wing Media works, maybe it would be a good thing for the CIA to get involved in releasing a document or two.

I am not a politician, but I do work in an office that it seems that I have to play politician. I am constantly covering my arse and pulling up documents that help defend me from getting stabbed in the back. I have my own backups and make sure that everything matches, if something is off, I check to see who made the change and why. A co-worker stated, “A day in our office is like a day at a Maximum Security Prison, only today is Shank Day, we can’t wear pants, and the guards are about to go on vacation.” Needless to say, you better be able to cover your tukiss, and draw a bigger sword. If the CIA was to get involved in your election compaign, you better not have done anything wrong, AND be able to refute or defend your actions. JUST LIKE they do with the Main Stream Media, if your conservative of coarse.

Ask Caesar, Kevlar wont stop a knife to the back. For that you need Teflon…….

  3. Robbie, while I have more than enough sympathy for those CIA agents who dedicate their lives to keeping Americans safe, the fact that they are getting bashed by Democrats provides me with just more than a little smug satisfaction.

Have we forgotten all the leaks out of CIA that dealt blows to our national security during the days of President Bush/Vice President Cheney for no other reason that they did not agree with that administration? Ever wonder where the NYSlimes got the information that we were tracking OBL by his cell phone? Two guesses; Jay Rockefeller and Jay Rockefeller, who sat on the Intelligence Committee and has friends in high places at CIA.

Have you forgotten Ray McGovern and Larry Johnson and their band of merry VIPS, former CIA, who encouraged active agents to leak information in order to cause detriment to Bush?

There were agents who did everything they could to thwart the Bush efforts to keep us safe. Now, the worm has turned, and the very people they backed, the Democrats, are turning on them like an ex-mother-in-law.

Why did they do that? Because there were career agents, like Valerie Plame Wilson, that thought they knew better than the Bush administration and would do anything to protect their cushy jobs where they were tenured and not required to perform. The CIA was corrupt at it’s core back then, and there is a reason they so hated Donald Rumsfeld.

Now Leon Panetta is put in a position of having to defend those very agents from the vitriol of Nancy Pelosi who is claiming the CIA lied to Congress. Panetta, the ultimate game playing Democrat can do one of two things; back the very troops that are under his command and make Pelosi look like the liar she is, or allow them to be run over as Pelosi and Specter try to destroy them, at which point, the attrition rate at the CIA will look like U-Haul trucks leaving Detroit.

My money is on Pelosi. She is not going to go down without a fight. Panetta will come out and make some lame statements about her claims, but in the end, he will be neutered along with the agents he commands. It all boils down to who has the most power, Panetta or Pelosi and Obama needs Pelosi, and her following of robots, more than he needs Panetta.

  4. I agree with Retire05.

    B. Hussein O. has a long history of cannibalizing his own people whenever it becomes convenient for him. Leon will just be the latest addition to a lengthy list.

It’s gotta be getting pretty crowded under that bus, by now.
