UPDATE: Yep. Just as I said down below…I knew the moment I read about this story and so the piece of shit who did it that he was a Muslim convert (h/t to Hot Air):

A Muslim convert who said he was opposed to the U.S. military shot two soldiers outside an Arkansas recruiting station, killing one of the soldiers, police said Monday.

“This individual appears to have been upset with the military, the Army in particular, and that’s why he did what he did,” Little Rock Police Lt. Terry Hastings said in a phone interview.

“He has converted to Muslim here in the past few years,” Hastings said. “To be honest we’re not completely clear on what he was upset about. He had never been in the military.”

Hastings identified the man in custody as Carlos Bledsoe, 24, of Little Rock, who was going by the name of Abdul Hakim Mujahid Muhammad. He did not have further details. The names of the soldiers were not released, nor was the condition of the wounded soldier.

Sadly, this act of cowardly terrorism won’t get half of the media attention that the murder of the child-killer George Tiller is getting. I’m even more certain that President Obama and his AG Eric Holder will do even less about it than they did in the Tiller murder.

It’s well past time for the Soldiers, Marines, Air Men, and Sailors who are stationed at Recruiting Stations be allowed to carry military weapons with which to defend themselves and their posts from Leftwing extremists. A well placed .50 cal should be sufficient.

Via Ace, I just read the tragic news of two enlisted US Army Soldiers who were shot while standing outside of a Recruiting Station in Little Rock, Arkansas:

Authorities say the incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. at a U.S. Army Navy Career Center inside the Ashley Square Shopping Center at 9112 North Rodney Parham Road. According to Lt. Terry Hastings with the Little Rock Police Department, two enlisted soldiers standing outside the office were hit when the unidentified suspect drove up and began shooting.

…According to Army Lt. Col. Thomas F. Artis, the two victims were not recruiters, but part of a recruiting program called “Hometown Recruiting Assistance.” Artis says recruiters use soldiers to tell their stories and talk to potential recruits while they are visiting or based back in their home region.

As many of my regular readers know, my little brother (who, as a battle-hardened Sergeant First Class in the United States Army, is anything but a “little” man) is now a converted full-time active duty recruiter (79R).

He’s just finishing up a 2.5 year tour stationed at the US Army Recruiting School at Ft. Jackson S.C.

Before that, he was a Station Commander of a Recruiting Station in south Houston. Today, my brother is picking up the keys to his new house, back in Houston, where once again he’ll be working at Recruiting Stations throughout the Houston battalion.

Over the years my brother has told me plenty of stories of anti-war/anti-military crazies who assault recruiters and recruits, and vandalize recruiting stations, government vehicles, and even the personally owned vehicles (POVs) of military recruiters.

So, you’ll understand why this story really hits a nerve with me.

This could just be a random drive by…but I doubt it. Just like the church shooting of baby killer George Tiller wasn’t a random act of violence. Ace ponders the “what if it wasn’t random” angle:

It may be to early for this but if the scumbag they have in custody turns out to be part of the anti-war crowd, will the press connect him with that movement the way they are with the guy arrested for killing Tiller? Yeah, neither do I.

And neither do I. But if it is, then it should push Tiller right off the front page of every blog and newspaper in America (but it won’t).

Or, if he’s one, then he’s probably both. If he is a Muslim, look for that part of the story to be completely ignored, buried, or down-played by the compliant media.

I hope the death penalty is used for Scott Roeder, the 51-year-old anti-abortion terrorist in Kansas. And seeing that Arkansas also has the death penalty, I hope this thug is the next man executed by the state of Arkansas.

I do wonder, though…is AG Eric Holder now going to send extra protection to recruiting centers like he’s sending to abortion clinics?
