Just finished watching President B. Hussein Obama give his speech at the official ceremonies celebrating the 65th anniversary of D-Day.
While I don’t think the speech was up to the moment it was commemorating, it was not a bad speech. In fact, had the speech started as strongly as it finished, I’d say it was a pretty good speech. Kudos to whoever wrote if for BHO. I’m most thankful for the fact that Obama did not continue his ritual of blaming America or apologizing on our behalf.
But I wanted to comment on one particular part of the speech — the part of the speech where President Obama was describing the horrors of Nazi ideology:
Nazi ideology sought to subjugate, and humiliate, and exterminate, and perpetrated murder on a massive scale. Fueled by a hatred of those who were deemed different and therefore inferior. It was evil.
Every word of it true. Except of course you could give the exact same speech, and simply replace the word “Nazi” with “Islam” and it would be no less true.
Now, if Obama had given that speech in Cairo instead of the one he did, I would praise him for his courage.

Replace Nazi with the word Jahadist and it would be no less true for me.
while it may have certainly have shown Obama has balls, how would that have helped the situation? We do not have the military power to subjugate the Middle-East, even if we did, this would essentially turn us into the “American Empire”. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar, the best option right now is to restore, or at least polish, America’s image in the middle-east and destroy Al-Qaeda’s and the Taliban’s recruiting base. There is little cost involved with words and micro-financing as compared to the cost of waging war, and we need to save all we can!
as for Nazism… I cannot rightly consider what the Islamic groups are doing as genocide, they do not have the power to accomplish murder on such a scale, though i’m sure they are trying their best at it. Islamic extremist fringe groups with ak-47’s and rpg’s are a bad comparison to the industrial might and training of Nazi Germany. One of the reasons D-day is remembered with such respect.
He sent the same message without exchanging the words. When I read that same passage the first thought that jumped into my mind was that you could exhange the reference and it would apply to today.
I think the message was sent. Not only to the jihadists, but also to those who are sitting on the sidelines of history in this fight to defend individual freedom.
The fight for freedom is not a Republican cause, but rather a cause for all humanity.
I don’t like Obama, but I believe he stayed true to supporting the cause of individual liberty in this speech.
Nothing very high tech about genocide. The nazis shot almost 2 million Jews. Most of the gas chambers were nothing but vans, huts, or shacks filled with carbon monoxide or ZyklonB. The rest were starved and worked to death, or killed in a hundred different sadistic ways. About a million Rwandans were killed mostly with machetes and clubs. All you really need for genocide is the requisite hatred.
You could also replace “Islam” with “republicans” given the one million + innocent people murdered in Iraq and Afghanistan. Instead doing anything to get Bin Laden or the anthrax terrorists, the Bush republicans chose ethnic cleansing instead (to the delight of their racist moron base) as part of their crusade against Islam. Just as the Nazi’s wanted to exterminate the jews, today’s racist republicans want to exterminate the muslims. Why is it again that the “islamo-facists” and “nazis” are bad, oh, yeah right, they want to kill people based solely on their religion and ethnicity! Imagine such insanity!
Poor little Johnny Payne. Just another typical retarded liberal who hates the military and believes that the service the sacrifices they make on his behalf amouns to the “murder of innocent people.”
What a sad, miserable, and pathetic little life you must live, Johnny.
Well, JP, you seemed to overlook the fact that the leftards in Congress all voted for military action in Afghanistan and Iraq.
How convenient for your tiny brain, so that you can believe the crap you are spewing.
Islamic extremist fringe groups with ak-47’s and rpg’s are a bad comparison to the industrial might and training of Nazi Germany.

I imagine the people in Darfur might disagree with you if they were still alive….

The only red meat in your entire psychotic rambling. Maybe you can tell us why they want to kill based on religion of ethnicity, you seem quite intolerant of any view beyond your own and may understand why they do what they do.
Now, I have to go crawl into my my bunker because crazy, racist, anthrax killers are killing millions in crawford wearing bushhitlercheneyhaliburton cloaking devices to hide their racism and blue eyes. Run Everybody, Run!!!!!!!!!!!
Barack Obama can suck my dick.
