Getting Ready to Go Galt

How much longer are we going to put up with this tyranical government?

How much longer are we going to put up with this tyrannical government?

I’ve lived by the quote (albeit without having ever read it until recently) my entire adult life. And I’ll fight to continue that way of life until my dying breath.

Sadly, there are more-and-more men who are perfectly willing to live off the sweat of another man’s brow. And I’m not just talking about Congress.

And the reason that more-and-more men are willing to let other men pull their share of the load in this country is because our government is stacking the system to encourage this.

“Why would they do that?”, you ask.

As Myron Magnet notes:

If the tax code ensures that those who pay the bulk of the taxes are always a minority of those who vote for the legislature that imposes the taxes, isn’t that taxation without representation? Isn’t it also the tyranny of the majority that the Founders tried to prevent?

But as government is growing at an insanely unsustainable clip under Democrats, more and more people are required to feed the machine. The people who generate the most wealth in this country, the ones who create the most jobs…are starting to Go Galt.

And once the government starts taking more of their pay checks then they themselves get to keep (like the suggested 54% tax on NY’s top income earners), more and more of these people are going to take their wealth and job creation and go away.

The Coming Tax Revolution

I have little doubt that our next several election cycles are going to be the start of a true tax revolution in this country. We are going to start voting out Congressman, Representatives, and Presidents who steal and spend our money like they’ll never have to personally pay it back (because, well, they won’t have to…).

And if we can’t do it via elections (because the same Politicians have rigged election laws to ensure their permanent entrenchment at the wheels of power), then I’m ready to go Founding Fathers on them (also from Myron Magnet):

It’s worth recalling that when the Founding Fathers led the American colonists in revolt against British oppression, they weren’t rebelling against torture on the rack or being chained in galleys or having to let aristocrats deflower their daughters. They were rebelling against taxes.

Our government is growing bigger and bigger, and bestowing on itself more and more power. The power to retain their lofty perches. The power to take money from one group to give to those willing to vote for them (but not willing to go out and pull their own weight behind the plow).

Our Declaration of Independence gives us the roadmap to throw these crooks and tyrants out, too. Remember: our government exists to protect life, liberty, and property, and “a regime that does the opposite renders itself illegitimate.”

Obama’s Redistributionist Philosophy

But doesn’t the government sense this growing unrest? Don’t they care? The answer is no. This is as designed by the current Administration.

Rogers Kimball writes:

But it doesn’t matter that increasing taxes on successful people will not bring in much dough. What matters is punishing success, not filling the treasury.

No one should be surprised at this. Whatever else you can say about Obama, he has never made a secret of his redistributionist philosophy. Economics for him is not about the creation of wealth. It is about 1) the redistribution of wealth and 2) penalizing those who have had the temerity to succeed.

And that, my friends, is the road that we are on right now. But how much more of it are we going to stand for?

In the lyrics of ShineDown’s “Sound of Madness”:

You can sleep with a gun
But when are you going to wake up and fight
For yourself?

Speaking for myself…not much longer.

  1. When the leviathan has comsumed everything around it, it can only start consuming itself.

That, Robbie, is what our government has become; an insatiable monster that will only begin to eat itself to its death.

There can be no doubt that Obama is a Marxist, although he would change the dialog to read communalist, egalitarian, progressive.

Funny, that the code name for one of the two most famous spies and traitors to our nation, Julius Rosenberg, was L-I-B-E-R-A-L. And the liberal, the progessive, the egalitarian, must always have an enemy to fight or they will have no power. So they, in true Alinsky style who understood the advantage in picking an enemy to rouse the masses, will chose Big Oil, Big Health Care Insurance Companies, Big Coal, Big CEOs, Big (name the next target) because to win one fight for egalitarianism, must lead to another fight. There is no utopia, so the fight can never end.

The purpose of the fight is not equality but power. Even Alinsky realized that and so he taught that it is not unjust to gain great wealth if it leads you to the power to control, and dictate, to the masses. Obama has learned that lesson well; a man of wealth who will not share that wealth in true Marxist style, but who will use that wealth, and consequently the power that wealth brought him, to do for others [redistribute their wealth] that he will not do for himself. Why should he? Without the wealth and the wealth of others, he would not have the power.

I forsee a day when this nation has another revolution. I see a day when the working class, the doers, once again revolt against not only the power class but the leeching class, as well. They will go John Galt.

And without their labor, their ideas, their endeavors, the nation cannot continue and they (we) can only hope to rebuild out of the ashes of a society that was the last great hope of mankind. As I once heard a immigrant from Great Britian say “If people can no longer seek freedom in the United States, where will they then go?”

  2. Is it too late? I have called, written, marched at Tea Parties and still the train speeds on right past us. I don’t know what else to do.

I am also convinced Obama is a Marxist. We are witnessing the destruction of the greatest country on earth.

  3. Dianne, the destruction is the whole idea. You see, Obama told us in his books where his mind is. He readily accepted the friendships of those who were far left, who believed in social revolution by destruction of the government that we were given by the Founding Fathers. It has been ingrained in him that you can build an egalitarian society through governmental dictats and control.

He believes in the prolitariat/politburo system. The few controlling the masses because the few know what is best for the masses. It is really basic tyranny cloaked in compassion.

  5. If I said in a public posting how I feel about Comrade Obama, I would be arrested by the Secret Service. I do know this though, if Thomas Jefferson were alive today, he would body slam Obama and most of the congressional leadership. It would not be a pretty sight.

  6. It’s always funny reading about people wanting to “go Galt”. The underlying idea (from Ayn Rand) was that if the most productive members of society withdrew from society, society would collapse. In this case, however, the people who talk about “going Galt” invariably are low-level cubicle dwellers and Palin proles (am I repeating myself?) whose contributions to society wouldn’t be missed. One doesn’t see very many members of the economic, cultural, social or intellectual elites of society going to Tea Parties or talking about “going Galt”, after all. But Walter Mitty fantasies are fun for some members of our society, I guess.

    • It’s always funny reading some smarmy leftards comment, that marginalizes the efforts and hard work of so many. At the same time acknowledges he believes there are actual elites in society, without understanding that they are self-anointed elites.
Mark must envision himself as somehow being above it all, and an elitist in his own mind.
Also, it must be noted that Mark hasn’t read or understood Atlas Shrugged, and instead must have pieced together his knowledge from leftard blogs.

Set in a near-future U.S.A. whose economy is collapsing as a result of the mysterious disappearance of leading innovators and industrialists.
