Houston's finest (I still miss the old baby-blue squad cars, though)
A naked man rams his car into a Houston PD patrol station, gets out waving a 9 mm handgun, and takes a pot shot at officers.
Guess what happens next?
The suspect emerged from the car with a 9-millimeter handgun and threatened officers, firing at least once, Cannon said. That’s when six officers fired at him.
No officers were hurt and no other injuries were reported. Several cars in the parking lot were damaged.
Emphasis mine. As this is easily the best part of the story. Men trained to react to danger — they don’t stand around asking is was going to shoot the naked dude, or vote on whether or not to duck for cover or engage. Instead, they all pulled out their service weapons and filled the guy with lead.
Other than a few cars getting damaged, I’d say that this is a pretty happy ending to the story. Especially since tax payers will not be on the hook for trying this thug in a court and then incarcerating his sorry ass for quite some time.
This part of the story was odd, though:
[HPD spokesman John] Cannon also said the man might simply have been attracted to the large, brightly lit police facility, which stands out in an otherwise dark and sparsely populated part of town.
Attracted to the brightly lit facility? What is he? A moth?
