Austin talk radio hosts suspended for using “racist” term. Sorry, but I have no qualms calling criminals all sorts of derogatory names. Especially if the term is as descriptive as the word “wetback”

They used the common term “wetback” to describe illegal (and criminal) aliens who swim across the Rio Grande River to sneak into our country.

KLBJ-AM’s Don Pryor and Todd Jeffries have been suspended from their weekday show without pay for two weeks after the repeated use of an ethnic slur during an on-air discussion Tuesday, station management announced Wednesday. The suspensions were effective immediately.

“Despite their apology today, the comments on-air yesterday were highly offensive, and I would like to personally apologize to the Austin community,” said Scott Gillmore, Emmis Austin Radio vice president and market manager.

I don’t have any such reservation about using the word wetback to describe the criminals who sneak into our country via swimming (or wading) across a sewage strewn river. If you didn’t swim across the river to gain illegal entry into my country, then I’m not talking to or about you.

So take your greivance mongering and perpetual victimhood  elsewhere. If you are one of the illegals who swam the grande river…then fuck you wetback.

It’s not a racist word by any means. It’s a descriptive word to describe a particular criminal. I suppose you think calling Muslim terrorists “camel fuckers” is derogatory, too…

Of course the race-hustling “Hispanic leaders” of Austin are not content with the 2 week suspension (without pay) for Pryor and Jefferies:

Local Hispanic leaders have told KLBJ-AM management that they are not satisfied with the suspensions of talk hosts Don Pryor and Todd Jefferies in the wake of the repeated use of an ethnic slur on their show Tuesday, and they want the station to take more action.

Paul Saldaña, an Austin consultant and a spokesman for the group, said he would not specify the group’s requests until station management had a chance to respond.

I’m guessing that extra action they’re looking for is to have the two DJs fired. Probably to be replaced with Hispanic DJs.

I wouldn’t be surprised if their additional requests revolve around monetary reparations.

  1. They weren’t fired, man…says so right in your article…just suspended.

These 2 guys are great and I listen to them everyday. This city has been overrun by these criminals and we can’t do anything about it. Nobody called into the show to complain…but now “La Raza”, the hispanic KKK is on the hunt.

  2. Robbie, I think John was referring to the title of the blog which says “Austin DJS Fired for Using “Wetback” on the Air.

  3. Hey John You fucken white trash mother fucker where do u live in Austin so i could fuck you up? so that you calling “la raza” is the kkk would be correct.

    • Fuck you roger, 100% chance you are 4’9″ white guy trying to sound tough behind a keyboard. You scare NO ONE.

  4. “La Raza” is not the Hispanic kkk, thats a little harsh…

yes, its translation is “the race” but its used more like “our people” not like “the master race”

    • La Raza is plenty harsh when you’ve been target by them and they cause you to lose your job, or demand job preferences for those less qualified, or shake down business owners for money.

  5. Only an idiot or a Nazi would claim that “Wetback” is not a racist term. For years, white racists used this term to describe all Hispanics just as they used the “N” word to degrade Black citizens. Wake Up!

  6. Sorry, jackass. The only people I’ve every heard use the term wetback were hispanics born in the US in reference to those who weren’t.

And since you infer that anyone who disagrees with you is a racist/nazi/idiot – go fuck yourself.

  7. HOW DO ANY OF YOU IDIOTS DECIDE THAT USING THE WORD “WETBACK’ IS NOT OFFENSIVE?

    • When did you idiots decide it’s against the law to offend anyone?

Wetback is a descriptive word of an illegal behavior, i.e., wading or swimming the Rio Grande River, to illegally enter the United States. It is commonly used by Americans of Mexican heritage in reference to illegal aliens from Mexico.

    • Because calling criminals all sorts of insulting and degrading names is open season. If any illegal alien who swam across the Rio Grande to get into my country is offended by the term, I could give two shits.

If anybody else is offended, I wasn’t talking to or about them.

  8. When did you idiots decide it’s against the law to offend anyone?

To be clearer, if someone is offended, it is their problem.

  9. more then half of the people that bitch about some one saying wetback there relatives are wetbacks. and may be should be sent to mexico so they can show the wetbacks how not to be called wetbacks.
