Boycotting the Boycotters of the Glenn Beck Show

My message to my former insurance company...

My message to my former insurance company...

As you’ve probably heard, Obama’s “Green Jobs Czar”, the convicted felon and self-declared communist Van Jones, is leading the charge to silence free speech and political opposition to President Obama.

Their latest target is a coordinated “boycott” of the Glenn Beck show.

Erick Erickson at Red State is calling for a counter-boycott:

Two of the companies, GEICO and Progressive, are run by liberals. But that’s not the case with all the others.

The best response is to remind all of these companies that there will be repercussions from our side if they are so willing to become pawns of the left.

Good timing.

I insure both of my motorcycles through Progressive Insurance. My current policies both expire at the end of this month, and I just received my annual renewal bill in the mail. I almost mailed my check to those bastards yesterday.

Instead, today I’m shopping around for a new, less cowardly provider. Luckily, I got a quote from USAA that is only $5 per month more than the Progressive rate. Looks like I’ll be transferring my policy and $$$ to USAA.

Good bye Progressive. Oh, and I didn’t bother to even look at Geico Insurance, either.

William A. Jacobson, who has a great post titled, Ten Top Reasons I’m Happy About The Glenn Beck Boycott, writes:

Much like the boycott of Mormon-owned businesses in the aftermath of Prop. 8 in California, the boycott aims to silence — not just criticize — opposing political speech.

Here are his Top 10 Reasons:

  1. The boycott will fail, as do virtually all boycotts.
  2. The failure of the boycott will be a huge victory for freedom of speech.
  3. The failure of the boycott will diminish the power of the boycotters.
  4. The diminished power of the boycotters will empower grassroots opposition to health care restructuring and cap-and-trade.
  5. The boycott reveals once again that many liberals are hypocrites who only want freedom for their speech.
  6. The boycott reveals that the left-wing blogosphere is afraid of other voices being heard.
  7. The boycott reminds us that large corporations are spineless in the face of liberal pressure groups.
  8. The boycott reminds us also that we should not confuse large corporations with free markets or free enterprise or freedom.
  9. The boycott will tell us whether Fox News has a spine.
  10. The boycott is a reflection that Democrats have few positive arguments in support of their agenda and need to create enemies.

OTHERS:

The Other McCain:

if these vile monsters are permitted to succeed with their attacks on Beck’s advertising revenue, the monsters will grow stronger and bolder, moving on to silence other conservative voices, not just at Fox TV, but everywhere, in every medium.

Hot Air:

The most depressing thing about this isn’t the fear of lefties taking down conservative broadcasters, it’s the fact that Beck is catching hell while the demagogue di tutti demagogues, a man who eagerly compares Republicans to terrorists when he isn’t busy screaming about right-wing “hate speech,” rests easily in the thought that his own advertising is secure. Exit question: Just what would Olby have to say or do to warrant a rightroots boycott of Countdown’s advertisers? He can’t sink much lower.

  1. What great timing this exposure of the far left agenda of those two insurance companies is, for your renewal.
Here’s more on this issue from Capital Research Center.

  2. Glad you’re going to USAA. My understanding is that Progressive IS George Soros’. I’d avoid that at all costs.

  3. Robbie, you might check with Texas Farm Bureau. I don’t know if they insure in Austin, as they are primarily a rural insurance company.

We transferred our insurance to them a few year ago from State Farm, and literally cut our insurance bill in half.

Also, Radio Shack has pulled their ads for the Magic Jack from the Beck show. Cancel your Radio Shack credit card.

  4. I’m surprised you got a quote from USAA.

I’ve been a USAA member for 30+ years, and they sent me to progressive when I bought my bike 18 months ago.

    • That’s odd.

We’ve been members of USAA for about 20 years — our home and our cars are insured via USAA. I called USAA for a quote after reading their motorcycle insurance page, and let the woman know that I was leaving Progressive because of their political advocacy. Perhaps that’s why she didn’t bother to “refer” me back to them.

    • I had the same issue with State Farm right after I got my bike, they directed me to Geico or Progressive. The reason they did this, is because they do not want to insure new riders that bad. They want you to have a year or two under your belt before they will be competitive. If you are a new rider, SF will just price themselves out of the battle, but ask you to check back after you have them for a year. Not sure if USAA does the same, but now that you have been riding for 18 months, you may want to price check them again.

  5. Another boycott is underway.
A bunch of hippies work there, so maybe there will be some new jobs created from this boycott.
