Spotting Ezra’s Journolisters is Easy

What’s the quickest way to spot one of Klein’s Journolisters? Listen for the echo.

Or…

Wait for him to post something that inevitably gets a spot on Memorandum. And then watch and see who links the story with a “yeah, me too; what Ezra said” post of their own:

Can you spot the journolisters marching to Klein's orders?

Can you spot the journolisters marching to Klein's orders?

I downloaded and installed this excellent GreaseMonkey Script that color codes the links at Memeorandum by how partisan the linking site is (though, how Gawker continues to be colored pink and how Crooks and liars isn’t the darkest shade of blue possible is beyond me).

Almost as soon as Ezra has a post hit the front pages of Memeorandum, you can see hit Journolist minions line up in lockstep to agree with him and spit out the agreed upon “take of the day” on whatever it is that Obama has asked them to spread around.

It would be almost funny if it weren’t so sad.

_______

For those unfamiliar with Journolist:

In February 2007 Klein created a Google Groups forum called “JournoList” for discussing politics and the news media. The forum’s membership is controlled by Klein and has been limited to “several hundred left-leaning bloggers, political reporters, magazine writers, policy wonks and academics.” [14] Posts within JournoList can only be made and read by its members.[15] JournoList has been criticized for its secretive nature, lack of transparency, and media echo chamber implications
