And this is just one reason why I hate the Democrat party:
BOSTON — A cancer-stricken Sen. Edward M. Kennedy has written a poignant letter to Massachusetts leaders asking that they change state law to allow a speedy replacement of him in Congress.
The note has been sent to Gov. Deval Patrick and the state’s Senate president and House speaker while Congress considers an overhaul of the nation’s health care system, a life cause of Kennedy’s.
The letter acknowledges the state changed its succession law in 2004 to require a special election within five months to fill any vacancy. At the time, legislative Democrats — with a wide majority in both chambers — were concerned because then-Republican Gov. Mitt Romney had the power to directly fill any vacancy created as Democratic Sen. John Kerry ran for president.
But Kennedy writes “it is vital for this commonwealth to have two voices speaking for the needs of its citizens and two votes in the Senate during the approximately five months between a vacancy and an election.”
In 2004, Dems changed the law to protect Sen. Kerry’s seat. And now that the law they fought for just 4 short years ago doesn’t suit their current needs, they want to just change it again.
What good is it to have laws if the Dems are just going to change them at their whim?
Look, I’m sorry that Ted Kennedy has cancer and is about to die. But I don’t believe he’s as concerned about the “commonwealth having two voices speaking for the needs” as he is wanting to hand-pick his successor.
The old egomaniac just wants to make sure that hes’ still alive to pass his “family” seat onto another member of the Kennedy clan (do you really doubt it won’t be passed down — after all, Caroline Kennedy thought that she was entitled to the Hillary’s vacant NY Senate seat for no other reason than “I’m a Kennedy.”
I wrote then of Carloline Kennedy:
I’m sick of our nation’s decent into having a permanent political ruling class. Especially the dynastic political families. Families like the Bushes and the Clintons. But mostly families like the Kennedys.
Families where they think they are entitled to Congressional seats and other positions of power as their birthright.
Like Caroline Kennedy, who has done nothing to deserve being a US Senator. Well, nothing other than have the good fortune to be a Kennedy, that is.
And that’s all this latest political end-game is about — circumventing or changing the law to ensure America’s most prominent political ruling family continues their reign.

Read the news about the Democrat party using the split option on health care. They need Kennedy’s vote to pull it off. Without him and Byrd (2 Democrat votes) it won’t work. That’s why they are doing this. I bet Kennedy is expected to die within the next couple of months. He didn’t even make it to his own sister’s funeral so he must be in very bad shape.
The Republicans better figure out a way to stop this in Mass. via lawsuits or whatever.
If Teddy really cared about Massachusetts having a voice, he would have resigned months ago. He has been too ill to be present and vote on anything resembling a regular basis, and has missed both a presidential award ceremony for himself AND his own sister’s funeral. If Massachusetts having two functioning senators has not been critical while Teddy the Hutt has been MIA, I don’t see how it will be when he is DOA.
