David Kurtz from the Liberal blog TPM freaks-the-hell-out when an average citizen practices his first AND second amendment rights at the same time
Mr. Kurtz has an urgent breaking post about the “Armed and Dangerous” town hall protest in New Hampshire today being staged (in ever sense of the word) by President B. Hussein Obama:
MSNBC just aired footage of the crowd gathering at the Obama town hall meeting on health care that’s supposed to start later today in New Hampshire and pointed out one man in a group holding protest signs with a gun in a holster on his hip. Apparently not a law officer, but a civilian.
Few thinks freak out a died-in-blue Liberal more than the sight of legally armed citizens. It’s almost beyond their comprehension how these backwoods rednecks can possible be allowed to walk around with guns.
Also important to note, the gun-toting protestor was holding a sign referencing the Jefferson quote: “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” It’s a well known quote from one of the archetypal founding fathers. And in itself it’s part of the American heritage, something that echoes with Jefferson’s always ambivalent and frequently dilettantish attitude toward political violence. But in the context of these townhall excesses and while carrying a firearm at a presidential event, it’s quite a menacing statement, in as much as it is about the need to kill tyrants.
Oh. My. God. This man is exercising his second and first amendment rights by quoting a founding father? While carrying a deadly weapon? He must be stopped.
You can almost hear the alarm and panic rising in the little voice in Kurtz’ head while he’s typing this post, as a bead of sweat rolls down his forehead — he’s likely fetishizing about jumping in front of the bullet from a RightWingWhaco to save his President…
But alas…
Later Update: The local police tell MSNBC that the man is legally carrying the gun, is nowhere near where the President will be, and is “under constant surveillance.”
Which begs the question — if he’s legally carrying the gun and is nowhere near the President, then why is he “under constant surveillance?” Unless it’s to protect him from rampaging SEIU union thugs…

So now we are putting American citizens who are lawfully exercising their constitutional rights under constant surveillance by law enforcement? The Leftists told me this stuff would happen if I voted for Bush and McCain — and they were absolutely right!
