ACORN and Their Democrat Enablers

Is there enough room under the Obama bus for ACORN, too?

Is there enough room under the Obama bus for ACORN, too?

ACORN isn’t just infamous for offering advice on how to smuggle underage illegal immigrant sex slaves into the country, and how to dodge the IRS while setting up a brothel to funnel illegal campaign contributions — they’re also under numerous indictments for voter fraud (how exactly did they use that $800,000 paid to them by the Obama for President campaign?).

Oh, and then there’s also their Illegal Alien Home Loan Racket, as reported by Michelle Malkin:

Carlos Vera [ACORN worker in San Diego] then generously offered the investigative couple his Mexican “contacts” to bring 12 illegal alien girls into the country for prostitution.

GOP California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger now wants an investigation. But neither the Terminator nor any other California public officials raised a peep when the very same San Diego ACORN office publicly announced a partnership with Citibank to secure home loans for illegal aliens. In 2005, Citibank and ACORN Housing Corporation – which has received tens of millions of tax dollars under the Bush administration alone — began recruiting Mexican illegal aliens for a lucrative program offering loans with below-market interest rates, down-payment assistance and no mortgage insurance requirements. Instead of Social Security numbers required of law-abiding citizens, the program allows illegal alien applicants to supply loosely-monitored tax identification numbers issued by the IRS.

Make sure and read the entire thing.

That ACORN has received billions in federal tax money to fund their criminal/Demcorat operations is disgusting enough. To think that there are still Senators (7 of ‘em) and Congressmen (75 of ‘em) that believe ACORN should continue to get our tax dollars makes me even sicker:

Yesterday the House voted 345-75 to ban all federal funding for the scandal-plagued advocacy group Acorn. Coming on the heels of the Census Bureau’s dissociation with Acorn last week and the Senate’s Monday vote denying it housing funds, this is a welcome decision.

But the fact that there were 75 “no” votes is shocking, even for this Congress. All of the nays came from Democrats. Along with far-left backbenchers, they included Charles Rangel, Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, and Henry Waxman, who heads the Energy and Commerce Committee. Both are key leaders in the ObamaCare effort.

Rangel is no surprise here. Not only is he the most corrupt man ever to serve in Congress, but he’s also an over-the-top race hustler extraordinaire.

As soon as I read that 75 Congress Critters voted to keep funding this criminal racket, I knew without having to look it up that Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) would be one of them (she was).

Interesting exit question: How many members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) voted to keep funding ACORN?

The second biggest joke of a Senator (after Al Franken), Roland Burris (D-IL) is the only Senator on the CBC, and he voted against defunding his pals at ACORN.

Of the 43 Representatives on the CBC, only 7 of them voted to defund ACORN:

Sanford Bishop (GA)
William Lacy Clay, Jr. (MO)
John Conyers, Jr. (MI)
Artur Davis (AL)
Hank Johnson (GA)
Kendrick Meek (FL)
Laura Richardson (CA)

Good for them. Thought I notice that 5 of them are in Red-leaning southern states, so it might be more CYA than it is true moral outrage. Race-hustling corrupticrats have to stick together, you know.

  1. ACORN has always been involved in mortgage fraud. When I was in the mortgage business, we (through HUD) had to accept them for down payment assistance programs.

It wasn’t unusual that if we tried to run a social security # through the system, it would come back as someone else or number not issued. W2s and paychecks were bogus. Tax returns were fraudulent.

Then came the no income no asset program. Phony SS#s and janitors making $12K per month. Kid you not.

We were able to stop a lot of them and turn them into the feds, but if the cases weren’t big enough, no attention would be paid.

Guarantee it’s going on as strong today as it was 5 years ago.

  3. I suspect there is a good chance that Congress will omitt the Acorn defunding from the final version of any bill.

Note also that lots of Fortune 100 companies donate to Acorn, some people think this is because Acorn will send busloads of people to disrupt the target company’s operations until a donation is made.

  4. It’s little wonder now why the communities served by ACORN get progressively worse. ACORN does not help to alleviate the problems of crimes like drugs and prostitution, they encourage and facilitate it.

ACORN is Organized Crime, On Your Dime.

  5. All this faux sturm and drang over ACORN is so typical of the right’s transparent attepts to adopt and co-opt populist rhetoric when it suits their narrow agendas.

ACORN has received a grand total of $53 million in federal funds over the last 15 years — an average of $3.5 million per year. Meanwhile, not millions, not billions, but trillions of dollars of public funds have been, in the last year alone, transferred to or otherwise used for the benefit of Wall Street. Billions of dollars in American taxpayer money vanished into thin air, eaten by private contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan, led by Halliburton subsidiary KBR. All of those corporate interests employ armies of lobbyists and bottomless donor activities that ensure they dominate our legislative and regulatory processes, and to be extra certain, the revolving door between industry and government is more prolific than ever, with key corporate officials constantly ending up occupying the government positions with the most influence over those industries.

  9. The question I have is, if the Congress votes to remove funding for ACØRN, and the bill goes to Øbama’s desk for his signature, will he sign it?
After all, they are two nutz from the same tree, and share the same Ø in their names.
Knowing how feckless and disloyal he is to family and friends, I doubt he would give throwing these nutz under the bus a second thought.
It’s all about him, the Big Ø.

  10. Robbie, I think it should be noted that John Conyers voted to defund ACORN. Now why is this important?

Conyers is no stranger to corruption. His own wife was recently convicted on a corrpution charge (which to hear him tell it, he was oblivous to). But he was heading up an investigation into ACORN which was recently, and quickly dropped. Conyers explained the reason for the end to the investigation was due to orders from “the powers that be”.

So the one congressman that has personal knowledge on how corruption and fraud works (a family tradition, I am sure) is looking into a corrupt and fradulent organization that has, in the past, had close ties with the current POTUS and Conyers is ordered to drop the investigation. What “powers” would have the authority to do that other than the highest authority in the nation? Ummmm.

Bobby Jindal and his state attorney General has gotten a court order demanding ACORN release all their documents. That is big. ACORN’s headquarters are in New Orleans. Will those records show the $800,000.00 paid to them by the Obama campaign?

This is a huge story that the Progressive media has tried to ignore. Now, I don’t discount the MSM as dumb, or just out of touch since it is obvious they have been in the Obama tank for a long time. What does the MSM really know? Does this scandal of corruption and fraud, involving tens of millions of tax payer dollars, go all the way to the very top? My guess is it does and that is why people like Charlie Gibson are doing their damn level best to bury the story on page A37.

The media for the last 2 1/2 years have adopted the attitude that if they don’t report on a scandal, it’s not a scandal. Move on, nothing to see.

Will the final story be how two young aspiring reporters (20 & 25) brought down an entire administration? One can only “hope”.

  11. ACORN may have screwed themselves over with this one, but as pointed out above, the claim that they’ve gotten “billions in federal tax money” is simply false. If anyone can show that billions of dollars have been sent to ACORN, come up with the link. Otherwise, this is just another example of the weird fixation of conservatives with ACORN, a group that isn’t exactly a superpower.

  17. And an FYI: ACORN has received only about $3.5 million per year over 15 years from the Federal government.

Nothing compared to the $1.3 trillion banksters received from Bush.
