RR Commissioner Michael Williams
Michael Williams has posted an article titled “Let’s Talk About Race”, where Mr. Williams notes, “Racism exists, but so does opportunity, and I can personally attest to the fact that there is far more opportunity than racism.”
Williams is a black Conservative who has won numerous elections in Texas, including the state-wide election for Railroad Commissioner.
He is also the leading candidate to replace Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison in the U.S. Senate when she resigns before losing to Gov. Rick Perry in the next Texas Gubernatorial election.
I think Mr. Williams knows a thing or two about racism and opportunity for a black man in today’s America.
He also opposes many of President Obama’s policies:
I, for one, oppose the President’s healthcare plan because it will explode the deficit, allow further government intrusion into the doctor-patient relationship, and continue to insulate healthcare consumers from the true cost of their care. The President and his allies should explain why my concerns are misplaced.
Does that make him a racist? If so, please explain it to me like I’m a five year old…because I don’t see it.
If not, why can’t I oppose those same policies on the same grounds without being called a racist?
Let’s talk about race. As an African-American son of the south, I grew up in a time and place where you didn’t have to divine intent or deconstruct code words to find racism. When it raised its ugly head it was like a blunt instrument waved in your face to keep you in your place. It was as unmistakable as it was demeaning.
[snip]
When someone of public prominence carelessly and callously demeans the motives of millions of honest Americans as racists when they are simply concerned about policy ramifications of the President’s agenda, we stop hearing each other. How can the President win over critics when critics are so unfairly stigmatized by such a personal attack on their character?

It’s always fun to watch liberal heads exploding at the sight of an articulate and clean black conservative.
I do worry about the rectal exam that the media will put him through if he runs for the Senate.
They’ll drag out every bit of dirty laundry they can find.
They’ll find every bitter former employee or backstabbing Anita Hill type friend to talk trash about him.
They’ll go after his parents, wife and kids with everything they’ve got.
And when all of that fails, they’ll just start making shit up.
I hope he and his family are up to it, because Texas could use him in Washington.
Digging up dirty laundry. Hmmm, this is a liberal thing to do? Making up lies? Well I sure hope Michael Williams can produce his birth certificate, a video of the American doctor slapping him on the ass, handing him over to his mother all while she give birth in the statue of President Lincoln’s lap. Again these are liberal concepts, they occur in every party.
It’s funny to see liberals get their panties in a wad because someone points out that Obama has no birth certificate, yet these same people spent months attacking Sarah Palin’s kids and questioning their parentage.
Hypocrisy, Democrat is thy name.
No, people have made allegations that they are unable to prove. There is a difference.
The more I hear about Mr. Williams the more I want him to be Texas’s next Senator. The Librats will have a major meltdown the minute he announces his candidacy.
