Newt Gingrich destroyed any shot in hell he hoped he had to be the Republican party candidate for President in 2012 when he moronically endorsed (and then stood by that endorsement) of far-Left RINO Dede Scozzafava in the NY-23 Congressional race.
Now he’s accusing grassroots Conservatives of trying to “purge the GOP.”
And you know what? The Newt is right — we are trying to purge RINOs like Dede Scozzafava out of our party. The answer to bigger-government tax-and-spend Democrats isn’t bigger-government tax-and-spend Republicans. Especially union-supporting, tax-payer funded abortion supporting radical-left wing RINOs.
Was Newt not paying any attention to what we were screaming about at all those Tea Parties and Townhall meetings? (Rhetorical question — the answering being, “Obviously not.”)
Don’t forget, the unhinged pantie-wetter Daily Kos endorsed Scozzafava because she’s “farther to the Left” than the Democrat candidate in NY-23″
From his remarks:
“This idea that we’re suddenly going to establish litmus tests and all across the country we’re going to purge the party of anybody who doesn’t agree with us 100 percent; that guarantees Obama’s reelection, that guarantees Pelosi as Speaker-for-life,” he told Fox News last night.
Sigh. Poor Newt — the problem isn’t that Scozzafava doesn’t “agree with us 100%,” it’s that she doesn’t even agree with us (us=Conservatives) 30%.
So, yes…let the purging begin (Snowe and Collins? Ya’ll are next…)
_________
OTHERS:
- I see that Michelle Malkin thought the same thing when she read Newt’s comments: “Yes, Newt, the GOP should be “purged” of left-wing saboteurs”
- The Other McCain notes that the NY Post has come around and endorsed Doug Hoffman (contrary to Newt’s assertion that we “outsiders” should mind our own business and let NY do as NY does (when did Newt move to NY-23, by the way?)

Ahhhh… the old “If you try to hold us to standards or vote third party the other side will ALWAYS WIN!! Booga!!! Booga!!! Booga!!!” scare tactic. The sad part is seeing so many conservatives swallow that crap hook line and sinker. Of course, decades of this mentality has gotten us to the point where Scozzafava and Snowe have R’s after their names.
I saw the video of Newt saying this, and the shot he took at Pawlenty and Super Sarah for supporting Hoffman.
I just don’t know what to think of Newt saying this, it just makes no sense. The only thing that could be happening is, Newt is completely sold out to the GOP establishment, the very group that needs to be expunged from the GOP.
From an objective standpoint, this NY race is going to be a good test case to see who prevails.
Dianne, I agree.
But…if the conservatives win, will the GOP learn from it?
The liberals took control of the jackass party, so maybe the conservatives can take control of the GOP.
Generally, third parties hurt more than they help, in general elections.
No2, I’m on the fence here. On the one hand, I want the true conservatives to win back the GOP. On the other hand, I fear more of the same Obamacrats and that scares the hell out of me. Look what they’ve already done (or tried to do) with their gd majority.
Dianne, I have no such qualms.
I have viewed liberalism/communism the greatest threat to this country since the 60′s, and have seen nothing to alter that view.
That the T. Coddington Von Voorhees’ control the GOP establishment, and are as disengaged from true conservatism as they can be, makes them an impediment to disposing of liberalism’s control over our institutions.
BTW, today is the 45th Anniversary of RWR’s famous “Rendezvous With Destiny” speech.
Today is also the 80th anniversary of Black Monday, a day in the Wall Street Crash of 1929, which also saw major stock market upheaval.
What we are seeing is more and more of the Washington inside crowd trying to take back the GOP from the state houses.
Newt endorsement and his swipe at Pawlenty and Palin are just the beginning. Now Dick Chaney has join the Washington crowd by coming out for Kay “Bailout” Hutchinson. Palin has come out for Rick Perry.
So it is Washington D.C. versus the States!
Good observation. I think you’re spot on, too.
