Reginald Blanton: Convicted murderer

Reginald Blanton: Convicted murderer

UPDATE (October 28) — Justice has been served. He’s dead.

____________

Well, relatively short anyway. He committed his crime on April 9, 2000…and he’ll be dead less than 10 years after he killed another man.

Which is pretty quick by Texas Death Row standards.

The Crime

On April 9, 2000, Carlos Garza was found lying unconscious in his apartment from two gun shot wounds to his face. He died on the way to the hospital. Garza’s door appeared to have been kicked open.

Two days later, following her arrest after an altercation with her boyfriend, Robert Blanton, LaToya Mayberry told the police that she had information about a murder that had occurred a few days before in an apartment complex and that Robert and his twin brother, Reginald Blanton, were involved in the homicide. Mayberry stated that she, Robert, and Reginald went to Garza’s apartment, where she waited in the car. Mayberry said she heard “two loud booms,” which she indicated she knew had to be the two brothers kicking in the door to Garza’s apartment. She then heard “two more booms,” which she said she knew to be gunshots because she had heard gunshots before. She said Robert and Reginald then returned to the car, and they drove away. Reginald had some jewelry in his hand, including two necklaces, which he later pawned for $79.

Mayberry later asked Robert what had happened. Robert told her that the door was kicked in, Garza came around the corner and asked what they were doing, and Reginald shot him. Reginald looked around the apartment for drugs, but found none. He shot Garza again. Reginald said he took one hundred dollars from the apartment.

A Texas jury sentenced Blanton to death for killing Carlos Garza. And on October 27, 2009, Blanton will pay for his deadly crime with his life.

Death Row Poet

Reginald is a big hit with the typical death row groupies and pen pal circuit — there are numerous “Save Reggie”, “Free Reggie“, and “Reggie was Railroaded” web sites devoted to this brutal and dangerous thug.

How sick does this woman have to be? How bottom-of-the-barrel is her self-esteem and sense of self-worth?

How sick does this woman have to be? How bottom-of-the-barrel is her self-esteem and sense of self-worth?

Here’s how Reggie describes himself in his pen pal/scum lovers request:

How can I describe myself when I’m much more than I realize? I’m simply complex. Don’t just read these words, feel them. Because I spill them from the depths of my soul onto these lines; raindrops from my inner-sky. I can’t disguise who I AM. I have to BE open, or suffer drowning on my own love; drowning in what I’m suppose to divulge. This more than a calling to indulge…

I’m poetry in motion towards my 26th birthday (June 3rd); a mere wave in Humanity’s ocean. 6 foot 2, poured from a honey-glazed, pecan praline potion. Tattoos, gold, and an Afro, yet many are surprised when they realize my intelligence defies their preconceived notions. A reflection of Society’s ignorance and genius interwoven. LIGHT-BEING struggling to find a way to shine utterly, brightly, GOLDEN.

Isn’t that special? It’s no wonder he has all the fucked-up scum-lovers fawning all over him and vying to be his special girlfriend. It’s hard to describe exactly how emotionally and mentally fucked-up these women who befriend and “love” men like Blanton are.

Prior Criminal History

Blanton was arrested for shoplifting and given a warning for criminal trespass in April 1996. He was convicted of burglary in July 1996, evading detention in May 1996, unlawfully carrying a weapon in December 1997, auto theft in March 1998, and possession of marijuana in April 1998. When he was arrested on April 13, 2000, on a capital murder charge, he was found with four baggies of marijuana and a shotgun. While awaiting trial, he assaulted another inmate in May 2001 in the adult detention center for allegedly testifying in another inmate’s capital trial.

Bottom Line

Reginald Blanton is a piece of shit thug who murdered a man in cold blood.

What kind of evil do you have to have in your heart to be able to shoot another person in the face, and then, as they lie their gasping for life, shoot them point blank in the face again?

The kind of evil that cannot be “rehabilitated” out of a person. The kind of evil that will always make them a danger to everybody around them. The kind of evil that can only be eradicated, not treated.

That’s the kind of evil that Reginald Blanton is filled with. And the world will be a much better and safer place once he is gone. Which will be next Tuesday, shortly after 6:00 p.m.

  1. I love how the scumpals all go on and on about how the thug “taught them so much” and in the next sentence claim he’s retarded. lol!
    A particularly vicious murderer.

    • everyone of you who are against this innocent man should just back off! i mean texas is a state of people who are racist and who aren’t. during the time he was residing there, he was just another black kid; who in everyone’s eyes was just another black thug! people dont forget that the south were the ones who had slaves, which is why the jury duty people at his case were haters! they didn’t bring justice to the case; they brought hate and their minds were not screwed on right! so if you think that people are scum for being pen-pals with jailed poeple then it is you who is scum! Everybody deserves a second chance; and it is not for us to choose who lives and who dies…it is for the one above! It’s called redemption; you should look it up if you dont understand the word!

      • You should be pleased to know that he wasn’t innocent. There was an overwhelming amount of evidence that he kicked down that man’s door, shot him point blank in the face, took his jewelry and money, shot him again, and went to a pawn shop and pawned the stolen jewelry. He was caught on videotape at the pawn shop 20 minutes after the murder and when he was arrested he was wearing the victim’s jewelry that he did not pawn. His appeals were reviewed by 4 higher courts and rejected.

Your problem is that you hate Mexican-Americans. Stupid racist!

        • Those of you believe that a life should be taken by false testimonies, have condemn yourself! None of you was there when the crime was suppositly committed. So your worthless thought is like your butt hole, your full of shit!!! But THANK YOU very much in keeping REGINALD BLANTON alive by speaking ill of him. He must mean a lot to you!!! You will soon see him one day and what will you say then?

        • Do you have any idea how idiotic you sound? if you had your way, no one could ever be charged and tried for a crime because “we weren’t there.”

Look, dumbass, you may lack the critical thinking skills to make these types of decision – others don’t.

But, you’re right – every time the dog drops a steaming turd, I think of the thug and chuckle.

        • if you carefully read you will find out the print on the door did not match his shoes and the jewerly he had on were in photos of him and the victim together they borrowed each others jewerly the vicim sister even testified to that i dont think the other comment had any thing to do with being racist we’re all jut voicing opinions here for cring out loud

    • i just feel sorry for everyone involved in this case and others like tis.

      • I don’t. I feel sorry for the victim and the victim’s family. The Blanton family are all criminals. His supporters are nothing but creepy groupies who get off on attaching themselves to killers. They’re not right in the head.

  2. It must have been the pecan praline potion that made him go bad.
    /sarc

I wonder if his scum-pal skank owns a pit bull?

  3. Your profane use of the English language and amazingly simplistic & emotional worldview reveals with stunning clarity your true nature and character. Perhaps the world would be better without you in it? Very enlightening article, we appreciate your literary prowess and most excellent investigative reporting. Perhaps you can get a job for FoxNews. You would fit right in.

    • FoxNews is great!

    • If my profanity offends you, you should go fuck yourself.

They are just letters strung together to convey emotions.

And few words are better at conveying disgust than profanity. As I am constantly and thoroughly disgusted with much of Liberalism and scum-lovers, it’s entirely appropriate.

Now get back to writing love letters to the disgusting animals behind bars you call your boyfriends…the ones you will never get to hold or touch. The ones who are just using you for money, stamps, and sundry other commissary items.

      • seekthetruth [snicker] is offended by profanity. But, burglary, robbery, and murder – not so much.

        • Yes, liberals are oh so tolerant.
They also love self-adoring titles, that are the exact opposite of who they are, like his/her nic, and the label progressives.

      • I’m not going to complain about your profanity or your making fun of death row groupies. It’s not going to change it.
One thing I’m gonna say: there’s a good chance Blanton could be innocent. But there’s also a good chance he did kill that guy. That doesn’t change the fact that he writes poetry, and he’s tried to at least pretend to try to do good, and he’s made friends. That doesn’t change the fact I don’t think he should be executed. That doesn’t change the fact, I think the money would be better spent trying to get something remotely good out of these people, even when they’re in supermax places.

But there’s actually a good chance that he, indeed, did kill Garza.

I’m just going to pray for the family of him, and for the family of Garza.

        • I’m not going to complain about your profanity or your making fun of death row groupies. One thing I’m gonna say: there’s a good chance Blanton could be innocent.

Well, good because it is his blog and this is a blog for adults. And deathrow groupies are highly mockworthy. However, there is no chance that Blanton is innocent.

I have no problems with people being against the death penalty. What I do have a problem with and strongly object to, are all the lies they tell to try to achieve their aim.

        • all i have to say is ,its for god to judge us all

        • Actually, Rochelle, that’s ALSO what he have judges and juries for…or are you in favor of doing away with our legal and justice system entirely and letting “God sort it out” on our final judgment days?

      • I guess you lost a woman to one of those man. Sorry to hear that. No need though to hate everyone.

      • YOU SERIOUSLY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH OTHER’S AND THEIR WAY OF HELPING PEOPLE WHO ARE IN NEED OF HELP! DONT’ YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY’RE TRYING TO DO, MOST OF US AREN’T IN IT BECAUSE WERE TURNED ON BY BAD-BOYS, WERE IN IT BECAUSE WE KNOW HOW TO FORGIVE OTHER’S AND WE SPREAD PEACE AND LOVE INSTEAD OF ANGER AND HATE! WE TRY TO UNDERSTAND THEIR SIDE AS WELL AS YOUR KIND OF SIDE! YOU SHOULD JUST LET IT GO BECAUSE REALLY NOBODY WILL EVER KNOW THE TRUTH BECAUSE NOBODY WAS THERE TO SEE THE MURDER GO DOWN! SO I SUGGEST THAT YOU’D STOP WITH UR PROFANITY AND GET ON WITH YOUR LIFE! MAYBE IT’S YOU WHO NEEDS A LITTLE JAIL TIME BECAUSE PEOPLE LIKE YOU END UP KILLING OTHER’S; NOT BECAUSE THEY DID SOMETHING TO YOU BUT BECAUSE YOU HAVE SERIOUS ANGER ISSUES!

        • IOW, you’re a skank, too. As far as people having anger issues, you are the one who wants to jail people who disagree with you. Stay in guam, skank.

        • People have forgotten about the constitution. Reg was not allowed to speak of. His innocenes, he was barred from testifying. The evidence that would of shown light on Reg’s behalf was thrown out. Three footprints on the door in which none of them matched. They say motive was robbery, then why take a hundred dollars and leave the rest of the money behind. Carlos Garza was no angel either… He felt he was a BIG DRUG KING PIN flashing money around what happen to the two guys who was looking for Carlos, 1 black male and 1 hispanic male that went to Carlos’s neighbor? What happen to the girl who claim to seen everything that happen but did nothing to help Carlos. Who took the drugs out of his apt? Why did Carlos’s friends conveniently go to the neighborhood store to get beer and smokes and find his door kicked open but yet went to the neighbor to check it out? Unanswered questions but everyone is a critic about Reginald Blanton’s life. Look at the website all the news about Reg. Weither guilty or not you are the ones who’s making him famous, continue his journey!

        • He was not barred from testifying. In fact, these days the practice is for the defendant to go on record and orally waive his right to testify.

None of the bogus questions you pose are relevant to the issue of his guilt or innocence. And no one is making him famous. I understand that he is famous in weenieland, but no one rightfully gives a shit about him here. Find yourself a different hobby.

  4. he was an 18 year old kid with no history of violence
    you people really are scum.
thank fuck you inbreed in texas and leave the rest of the world alone

  5. I believe in the death penalty, but not in the case of Reginald Blanton. It seems like the writer of this post should check his facts before wishing death on another person.
The statements listed above were recanted by the witnesses, no eyewitnesses testified at the trial

“but no person shall be put to death on the testimony of one witness” – Numbers 35:30

    • You check the facts, asshole. The jury found the original statements by the brother and his girlfriend true. They did not believe their recantations. Besides other corroborative evidence, the victim’s distinctive jewelry was pawned by Blanton 3 days after the murder.

  6. If the truth offends Robbie Cooper he should go fuck himself!!

  7. they shared jewelry photos of the murder victim and reg with the jewelry taken together is available
the foot prints on the door that had been kicked in were two sizes larger than reg
the appeal court upheld complaints reflecting jury shuffling and inappropriate defece attorney but blamed reg
if hr dies on tuesday your state will have committed premeditated murder

    • The victim was seen wearing his jewelry the day he was murdered. Next, the victim is found dead without his jewelry and it turns up on Blanton and was pawned by Blanton.

The footprint was 12″ and the defendant’s foot measured in court was 12.25″.

The appellate court allowed Blanton to file a writ on the jury shuffling issue. However, they found NO ERROR and NO INEFFECTIVE ASSISTANCE OF COUNSEL.

If Texas executes Blanton on Tuesday, he will be dead. That’s all.

  8. does his wife get a divorce after he’s dead and find another death row husband?

  9. His so called Wife/Scumpal is already married to Charles Chucky Mamou another vile piece of shit from Texas Death Row.

What in hells name is wrong with these British women?

    • she’s just a skanky assed ho with an I.Q of 0.8. she could be from anywhere.

      apologies from the UK.

  10. I REALLY BELIEVE AFTER READING POSTS FROM RONNIE THAT HE IS A SADISTIC SOCIOPATH
There has long been an association between death and sexual gratification in people suffering from, this type of personality disorder
The use of emotional rants and the preoccupation of wanting people who are powerless dead is a very frightening combination
It appears that any possibility that the evidence could be tainted is rejected out of hand by Ron.
he really wants this kid who was only 18 at the time the offence was commited to die
Whatever you believe an awful lot of people, some who defend the death penalty are uneasy about this case.
They have the ability to be objective something that Ron seems to have difficulty with
I honestly believe that Ron is a troubled man who gets some kind of psychological gratification from the death of others

    • The case has already had numerous appellate reviews and they have affirmed the conviction and sentence.

If you want to see an emotional, illogical, highly dishonest rant, read your own posts.

I have to wonder about someone who thinks kicking down a man’s door, entering, shooting him several times, robbing him, and then bragging about it is okay. Get help.

      • I have to wonder about someone who thinks kicking down a man’s door, entering, shooting him several times, robbing him, and then bragging about it is okay.

And do you think your request is any different to what you just said in your statement above?

  11. I am not a huge supporter of the death penalty, but something has to be done with our justice system. A man guilty of taking another’s life with no remorse, for $79, is up there with those having comitted multiple murders, or acts against a child. In this day and age, many criminals slip through the framework of our judicial system, on loopholes, or precedents, or protocals, that defense lawyers find and abuse. And I laugh inside everytime I hear how this murderer is innocent because he has no history, or that murderer is innocent because some of the superficial evidence don’t match, or the jurors were biased. Honestly the state has done it’s job and proved guilt. Reggie took a man’s life now he is having his taken. My uncle was killed, but do to some loophole, his murderer was out into the public in 4 years. The question is for you Steve Thompson, if they were to release Reggie today, could he be your neighbor?

    • The question is for you Steve Thompson, if they were to release Reggie today, could he be your neighbor?

And what would be wrong with that if the prison does the right job in rehabilitation? Look at countries like Denmark. The thing that needs to be done is not to kill but take away the weapons and the drugs and educate. If the US or any other country with the DP would do the right thing, it should be crime-free. Yet countries without the DP have and propper rehabilitation have lower crime rates. What do you want.. less crime, safer streets, nicer people or revenge?

  12. Your poor use of the English language completely eliminates any legitimacy your article may have. I fear that you misunderstand the evidence and have written this article with too vulgar and biased an interpretation. You are what is wrong with the American judicial system, you are the reason Texas is stereotyped so poorly, you are the reason innocent people die. Please do us a favor and refrain from ever writing in the future.

    • Dearest Kimmy,

Right after you list an innocent person executed by the State of Texas, please go fuck yourself.

      • I would have no problem having reggie as a neighbour
I work as a senior lecturer / practioner and have worked with a number of young people who have spent time in prison for serious offences including murder
The difference seems to be that most people change when they commit offences in thier youth
The other difference is that redemption ( not religious )is not unusual .Not possible when the state kills them
Many of the people I have worked with have never reoffended.
Victims families have also been helped by this process.
To be honest I think that our cultures are so far apart that its difficult to find common ground. closure will not be achieved by the death of another often just more pain
the concept of closure was created to justify the death penalty at least people were honest prior to this and called it revenge
ps using sexual profanity to Kim ron you got a problem kid
feeling of power over who you percieve weaker probably.
were you ever a bully ?

        • And your a stupid ass too…. you should pull your head out of it.

My sister was murdered by a piece of shit and still awaits his execution…. 20 fucking yrs!

Oh he too has been called a “good guy” thats why he robbed and murdered 2 people. Justice will be had for my Sister and her boyfriend. I refuse to be quiet and let the system forget their deaths, nor will i let that piece of shit forget either. Pathological liar wouldn’t know the truth if it kicked him in the balls, which he doesn’t have by the way, he is a coward, they were both shot execution style, money, checks, credit cards, a 70k car in his posession and he says he’s innocent, they got the wrong guy.

you say many of the people you have worked with never reoffended?

How many total people have you worked with and what is your percentage of those who never reoffended?

        • Thank you for confirming that you don’t know what the hell you are talking about. You don’t get a one time murder/home invasion freebee. Blanton has an antisocial personality disorder. People like him love manipulating fools like you.

No one gives a shit what they do in the UK. Your anecdotal evidence is silly and irrelevant.

Juvenile recidivism in the US is about 40-60%. Juvenile recidivism as an adult is about 25%. Juveniles who have previous violent convictions have a low recidivism rate for violent convictions because we no longer let them out of custody.

As to Kim, she came here and lied and insulted people – so, fuck her. And because of your willful failure to acknowledge that – fuck you, too.

        • Juvenile recidivism in the US is about 40-60%. Juvenile recidivism as an adult is about 25%. Juveniles who have previous violent convictions have a low recidivism rate for violent convictions because we no longer let them out of custody.

Hm I guess you want to read a bit more about this. I can’t blame you though, you probably weren’t educated about this, so really it is not your fault. Never give up learning though, it is important.

        • Don’t project, dumbass. My stats are from the OJJDP. You’re out of your league.

      • There’s ample evidence to suggest that at least a few people, eg Cameron Willingham, Carlos DeLuna, Ruben Cantu have been executed in Texas.

        • No, only wishful thinking on your part.

        • Not one of those men has ever been found innocent by any court in Texas. And not for lack of trying by the defense, either. It’s because they were ALL GUILTY as charged, tried, and convicted.

Just because a DR inmate says he’s innocent, doesn’t make it true.

        • Not one of those men has ever been found innocent by any court in Texas. And not for lack of trying by the defense, either. It’s because they were ALL GUILTY as charged, tried, and convicted.

Uh I guess you need to read up about that one too. Oh no you are right. The courts have not found them innocent.. others have proofed their innocence through DNA or other sources though. Not heard about that? Don’t you read any newspapers? Maybe you want to take that up.

        • Uh, I guess you need to learn how to read and comprehend simple English. None of the murderers listed were ever found innocent nor were they proved innocent post-conviction. You idiots have to stop believing your own lies.

    • Scumpal: I understand both the evidence and the applicable law – you don’t. Piss off.

      • lmao a devil in disguise him and his brother im glad this is over and to think he is no thug never been in the streets mom a proffesional and father an officer in the navy fake thug wow glad i aint been slammed

  13. YOu guys dont give shit about guilty non guilty. You wanna see blood, thats all.

    • Actually, we give a shit enough to review the opinions, evidence, and applicable law to determine whether they are guilty or not.

You and your ilk, on the other hand, look at their photos and if your panties get wet you declare them innocent.

      • Whatever way you see it, for me its sick crap whats going on. Locking someone up 9 years plus, waiting to be killed, then knowing the date 30 days before expecting the needle. If THIS is no torture, what is then?

        • It’s not the way I see it, it’s fact. I have yet to see an anti post anything intelligent on any of these cases. Facts and laws mean nothing to you.

They are on death row for a long period of time because they do everything in their power to delay execution as long as they can.

You’re like the story of the guy who killed his parents and then demands mercy because he is an orphan.

          Give it up.

        • If THIS is no torture, what is then?

Oh, I don’t know…how about being shot 4 times and then have the gun shoved in your next, thinking that your about to take you last breath and then mercifully hearing a “click,” only to be pistol whipped instead for your luck.

Sounds much, much worse to me.

        • Well I have been waiting 20 yrs for justice to be served! How cruel is that for the victims family? I wish it were only 9 yrs. Then justice would have already been served.

  14. In my country he would be out of Jail after 15-20 Years. And we have less murders per year than you have per day….maybe you should not sell guns to every fool?

    • Too bad he didn’t go burglarize and murder in your country.

It would make a great ad campaign for tourism:

“Come to euroweenieland where you can rob and murder and only serve 15-20 in the joint.”

      • The point is, we have much less crime in generall, even tough our laws are much much softer? HOW COME?

        • Who cares? We’re not you. You have so many social controls most people I know that live there complain incessantly about it.

    • Chris, your country, Switzerland, has about 7.5million people, while this country has about 310million.
Texas alone has 25million, so trying to make any kind of comparison will require you to adjust the number of murders per 1,000 to make your point understandable.
You deal with murderous bastards anyway you chose, and we will do the same.

      • Every fool in Switzerland walks around carrying a gun.

      • I am austrian, but close guess. Dont know maybe it needed two World Wars and Millions of dead to realize killing isnt the way. Even if the guy is guilty i find this is no way to end ones life, its worse for me than being killed in a robbery, sorry about it.

        • and one last remark, if the “murderous bastard” is a country, lets say texas, because it executed innocent people, will then the whole country also be charged with death penalty? Since its the punishment for murder….???

        • I’ll take No2Liberals word over yours. One, this is not your country and two, what you think is worse for you is irrelevant.

        • Texas is a state, not a country, and it has never executed an innocent person. Frankly, you want an innocent person to be executed. It doesn’t say much about you.

Go find a healthier hobby then romanticizing these thugs and pretending you know anything about the facts of these cases and our laws.

        • I am austrian, but close guess.

So you use an isp provider in Switzerland and not your own country?
          Odd.

Dont know maybe it needed two World Wars and Millions of dead to realize killing isnt the way.

Spare us the weepy bullshit. That might work on your socialist inclined friends, but not here.

Even if the guy is guilty

He is, read the trial transcript, and the many, many following appeals and reviews.

The “murderous bastard” in this instance is Blanton.
Not once has an innocent person been executed by the state, that is just a constant meme by anti-death penalty idiots.

  15. The Thirst for Blood Is As strong As Ever.No I am not An Anti Death Row Groupie.
You dont Give 2 fucks, As long As An Execution Is carried out.
The Guilty Deserve the Punisment of the State-But your so blinkered Its untrue.
Get you Blood craving Heads out of the Sands-Its so obvious. Gov Perry Is Doing A Nixon-Or you still happy to hear one Side of a Story and form an opinion.
Gov Perry Is now A forensic Expert, And Forensic Experts dont know Anything.
And what does He do when the Going gets tough-Does A Nixon and sacks people who will speak the truth(FACT).
But what do you do? You are not Arsed How he covers up, What desperate actions He will resort to.Do you Know why? Because No one escapes the law, Might Take Time, But Gov Perry Knows-When the truth comes out about Willingham, A big can of worms will open
Whats His Attitude-Aslong As I stay In power, Get my vote, Il do whatever It takes To remain In power.
Forget Being Right Wing for A moment-How about being a Human, And excepting as ever other nation In the World, that has or Has Had the Death pen, Innocent aswell As Guilty Have been Executed.
Oh No were are Texas, Gov Perry says This and that-So Its The truth.
Perry Is doing A Nixon, And guess what-Rightwingers dont give A fuck, As per normal, Grammar Inspection, Will take presedent Over Facts-And you call yourself Human Beings.
How The fuck Perry sleeps At night Is beyond me-Or you, You follow Him like a Lamb To Slaughter.

  16. http://www.democracynow.org/2009/10/27/will_texas_execute_another_innocent_man

Texas has a long and sordid history of executing people (often black), later exonerated.

Oops. Too late. THEY WERE ALREADY DEAD!

This man deserves to have his case properly reviewed.

ACT NOW TO STAY HIS EXECUTION. DON’T LET TEXAS GOV. PERRY EXECUTE ANOTHER INNOCENT MAN.

    • Since the Death Penalty was re-instated in 1972, not a single innocent man or woman has been executed.

      • not one innocent execution has been acknowledged by the courts.

reasonable evidence has come along, though, that casts some doubts on their guilt or whether they were tried fairly

        • Nope. It’s always the same suspects with little to no facts and no understanding of the law that declares these very guilty murderers innocent. And people like you fall for it all the time. It’s shameful, really.

  17. This man deserves to have his case properly reviewed.

It already was reviewed numerous times. He lost all his appeals.

  18. In almost exactly 2 hrs from now, Reginald Blanton will have taken his last breath.

Some people are just no damned good, and are so filled with evil that the world is simply a better place without them in it.

    Blanton is one such person.

  19. I don’t know where you get your information Robbie Cooper, but since the death penalty has been reinstated there have been more than twenty men exonerated through DNA, men that wasted upwards of two decades of their lives sitting behind bars for crimes they had NOTHING to do with. It’s all fact, what’s also a fact is I’m not opposed to the death penalty when the convicted is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, meaning reliable eye witnesses, DNA, caught in the act etc. But given the fact that so many have been wrongfully convicted and executed, I believe we have to air on the side of caution and give the accused/convicted every opportunity to have the facts reviewed by an bipartisan board of experts. It’s no secrete that possibly 1 out of every case that goes up for review actually gets looked at, the rest are all rubber stamped DENIED!!

    • Oh, give me a break! DNA didn’t match one guy but he went around bragging about raping and murdering a young girl. You dorks always act like some innocent person was plucked out of their beds and charges with these crimes. Bullshit. And, no innocent has been executed. Go sell that nonsense somewhere else. Bi partisan board of expert? So, you want to ditch the US Constitution? Hahahaha!

    • Kali — I didn’t claim that innocent men haven’t been exonerated via DNA. There have been…and because the Texas process is so lengthy and thorough, none of them were executed.

Here in Texas, we wait until we are 100% certain of guilt. Then we toast ‘em.

I’ll state it again…no innocent person has been executed in the State of Texas since executions resumed in 1972.

  20. meant to say 1 out of every 100 cases is actually reviewed, the rest are rubber stamed DENIED!

    • If there is an issue, the courts will review it. But, where the defense can’t even articulate a viable legal issue, there is none.

  21. As far as the “law of parties’ law” goes, Texas takes it to a ridiculous level. How can you make someone pay with their life for someone else’s bad judgment? So that means if you were out with me and I get pissed at someone and decide I’m going to kill them, you should be held accountable? It’s absurd!

    • No but if you get pissed at someone and kill them, then I go back to the scene two more times in 24 hours, wear the victim’s jewelry, then pawn it for cash, that’s a lot more than being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

    • This isn’t a law of parties case. Here’s a better analogy: You and a fellow anti ecide to go rob a liquor store and have guns. You’re the wheel man. Your pal goes in alone and shoots the 88 y/o clerk during the course of the robbery. Was it forseeble that armed robbery could lead to murder? Yes. You’re guilty

    • Blanton isn’t being executed under the law of parties. He’s the killer.

If you want to see why I support the Law of Parties, go to today’s post on Robert Lee Thompson, who will be executed under the Texas Law of Parties…of which you have an about a 2-year old’s understanding of…

  22. The story of Kenneth macduff.
In the latter part of the 1960`s Mr Macduff was driving down a road and spotted three teenagers talking on the side the road.He stopped and killed the three kids with a pistol.
He was sentenced to death, but the Supreme court outlawed the death penalty. His death sentence was then changed to life in prison.
He was paroled 25 years later for
good behavior He then celebrated his freedom by killing seven teenage girls. He was eventually executed and that ended his career.

  23. the people i work with who reoffend in terms of violent crime is really small
thats not to say that they dont offend in other ways drugs etc
over a year there was one serious incident of gbh section 18(the guy suffers from paronoid psychoses and is now in forensic care.
there has been no repeat homicides from this cohort
most served 6 to 8 years on average and are aged 24 yrs to 30 yrs
our stats are very similar to denmark who have leinient sentences and low re offending

these ministry stats are pretty consistent
Crime has fallen by almost 40% since 1997, and the chances of being a victim of crime are the lowest since records began.

‘We are determined to do more. Last week the Prime Minister set out a wide ranging new strategy on crime, including a new programme focused on preventing burglary and robbery.

‘To stop those who offend from returning to crime, we have committed resources to tackle the root causes of their behaviour. We have trebled spending on offender learning since 2001 and prison industries now provide 12 million hours of purposeful activity a year. Probation funding is up 70% in real terms over the last 10 years, supporting effective interventions for drug and alcohol abuse, employment, training, and basic literacy and numeracy.

‘Crucially, this investment is delivered by prison and probation staff, police, youth workers, the third sector and other partners whose continuing commitment makes a significant difference to reducing reoffending and preventing future victims.
you the us have the most violent society in the developed world despite the death penalty.learn from it

    • I’ve read about how UK crime statistics are…juggled.
With the police “cuffing” up to 24% of reported crimes, and the British Crime Survey not recording a crime unless it is reported by an “adult.”
Which means crimes against children and commercial enterprise go unreported, as well as all crimes against public sector property (arson, criminal damage, theft) and all murder.
That will certainly have an impact on your governments claims of reducing crime, as they just don’t exist, to the tune of between 11 million to 33 million unreported crimes.
So believe what your government tells you, I most certainly will not.

    • you the us have the most violent society in the developed world despite the death penalty

What citation, other than any from the UK government, can you provide to support your claim?

      learn from it

We have, but others are too slow to learn from us, mostly due to their preoccupation with patting themselves on the back with how superior they pretend to be.

“If we are to abolish the death penalty, I should like to see the first step taken by my friends the murderers.”
      – Alphonse Karr (1808-1890)

  24. As for Blanton, He’s Dead…Jim!
Good riddance to him, and nice fail to all the blubbering slugs who tried to stop his just end.

    • Google news still isn’t reporting it.

    • The Garza family wants him executed.
      Link

“I want to watch him breathe his last breath,” Irene Garza said of the man convicted of killing her 22-year-old son, Carlos Garza, whose body was found nine years ago in a pool of blood, two gunshots to his head.

Garza’s family waits for closure. Gathered recently at the East Side home of a relative, they recalled Garza’s spirit and how much they have missed him over the years. More relatives want to witness the execution than are allowed, and the family has to whittle the list. So far, those who will be in the chamber include Garza’s mother and three sisters.

“It won’t bring my brother back,” said Sulema Balverde, 34, Garza’s older sister. “But it will bring him justice.”

      ….

A cousin, Anthony Ortiz, 28, often stayed at Garza’s apartment. He still wonders what might have happened had he been there the day Garza was slain. After the shooting, he helped clean up after his cousin’s body was taken from the residence on Skolout Street.

Ortiz can still remember how evidence technicians cut a bloodied piece of carpet. A mirror hanging on a wall was shattered by a bullet, and Ortiz took what was left and hung it on his own wall. Later, he sat by it and cried.

Garza’s son, just 4 at the time of his father’s slaying, has grown into a teenager. Now 14, he struggles to remember the man the rest of his family so easily recalls. He didn’t get to know Garza, but he misses him nonetheless.

“I feel it should happen,” Carlos Daniel Garza said of Tuesday’s execution, nodding his head. “So my dad can finally rest in peace. Finally.”

[Check out the comments and all that hatred for the Garza family.)

      • The weepy hand wringers dominated the google page with their lies about Texas executing an innocent man.
        Pathetic.

        • I know. That was the meme and the bozos coming here are only repeating what they read without questioning it.

        • Critical thinking isn’t an attribute in the leftist community.
          Being an actorvist is.

      • A child will repeat what they hear, are u teaching your child to Hate? was Blanton KILLED because Carlos wont be able to suck another young kid into his DRUG haven? the only JOB Carlos had was selling DRUGS!!! SO WHAT ANGEL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? I can see getting killed out on the streets not having control of that, but for you so call righteous KLAN SUCKERS, I am calling you and your so call Justice, your day will come, you think like the same people that thought nailing JESUS on the cross was justice. Just another legal way of LYNCHING, YOUR HATE and YOUR KIND, IS SOooo DEEP, ONE DAY U AND OTHERS LIKE U, WILL ANSWER TO GOD, YOU CAN BELIEVE THAT, I can not believe that you have a MOTHER, u must had been HATCHED FROM A EGG :o (

        • A child will repeat what they hear

That means your child is going to repeat bad spelling, grammar and nonsense.
My advice to your kid(s) is…as soon as you can, leave home.

  25. “Believe me, I shed plenty of tears behind Carlos,” he said, looking towards five of Garza’s relatives, including the victim’s mother. “Carlos was my friend.”

    Source.
Sounds like the pecan praline solution song.

  26. The next month or so could get really interesting. Between Nov 5 and Dec 3 there are SIX scheduled executions, including three on consecutive days (Nov 17-19). This is from TDCJ’s website.

At this rate we may be able to relocate death row to a Greyhound bus!

  27. Instead of spending millions of dollars keeping these people on death row for years, why doesn’t the gov’t just take the money and give it to these thugs as they need cash. That would stop all the burglaries and senseless killing that goes along with it. There would be no more need for robbing someone or taking innocent lives.

  28. Just being sarcastic by the way. I shall now take my tongue out of my cheek.

  29. fill your heart with love instead Hate,
a poor Guy died killd by the State
    maybe he was alsp innocent.

    • Fill your brain with a clue instead of the gibberish you read on this abolish websites. Blanton was not innocent. He murdered that man in cold blood. He’s been executed. Get over it!

  30. One more piece of shit gone!!!

  31. You should really check your facts honey, you should’nt make judgement on someone that you know ..well..really obviously nothing of!

    • She did. There was an overwhelming amount of evidence against Blanton. It is fools like you who need the reality check. Again, get a different hobby.

  32. Wow some of you are very hostile and for no reason! I never said Reginald was innocent, nor did I say his was a Law of Parties case. And further more I’m not a sympathetic prison groupie, I’d never waste a red cent visiting an inmate and actually find these women that profess love to convicted men whom they’ve never spent a moment outside of a visiting room, ridiculous! Nor would I hesitate in sentencing someone to death, if all the facts, DNA, video etc proved guilt, all I was stating is fact, that there have been many men exonerated through DNA, so lets be 100% sure before we agree with every execution!

Oh Robbie a 2 year old I wish I were that naïve and innocent!

    • No reason? The fact that you and others come here and post lies and insult us is no reason? Idiot. You’re the one who brought up the Law of Parties – not us. People who troll pro capital punishment sites and post lies are groupies, therefore, you are a groupie. Coming here and falsely claiming that you are pro DP to make yourself appear credible doesn’t work.

We are 100% sure that Blanton was both guilty and received a fair trial, so can it!

  33. Steve Thompson……………..bollocks!

Clearly crime has not fallen. Only the recording of it. The current government has comprehensively failed the UK in virtually all areas. The only thing that has reduced is the statistics. The drug users who drive the crime figures are committing a mass of offences which are statistically invisible because the BCS won’t pick them up. Their major crime is shoplifting followed by dealing drugs. Both crimes virtually invisible.

Despite having the most Draconian gun control measures in the world, gun crime is increasing annually. Guns don’t kill…….people do. Criminals do not use legally held weapons. It is a fact that well over 50% of burglary in UK happens when the owners are at home….in US it is around 13% because there is the possibility that the victims may be able to defend themselves. A deterrent maybe?

The abolition of the death penalty in Europe is political. In all studies it shows that if there was a referendum, in the UK and in all probability the rest of the EU, on Capital punishment for some cases of murder the majority would vote YES. The EU dislikes referendums (as clearly demonstrated in Ireland) so that dog won’t hunt…unfortunately. The repealed UK system of Capital punishment didn’t have the expense of the US. No 10-12 years of waiting around. No whinging about conditions, no groupies and scumpals. Maybe something to consider.

  34. “gets some kind of psychological gratification from the death of others”

“others” being rapists, robbers and murderers….right? Yeah, I thought so. We are overpopulated anyway.

  35. Finally someone speaks out how this man is guilty. Thank you Robbie Cooper. You may have not said it the way I would have but it was pretty damn close. I was getting tired of reading all this stuff people were writing on how Reginald was innocent. They were fed lies by him and never once thought to themselves “what if he is guilty?”

    • IF U WERE TIRED OF READING ABOUT BLANTON’S CASE, WHO WAS HOLDING A GUN TO YOUR HEAD. IF U DO NOT LIKE WHAT U READ, TRY STOPPING???? MAYBE U DON’T HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO DO. TRY WORKING TO HELP PAY MONEY BACK TO THE MEN THAT SPENT THEIR ENTIRE YOUNG LIFE IN PRISON, LATER THE STATE FOUND OUT THAT THEY WAS WRONG, NOW PAYING THEM BACK, HAVE U EVER WONDER WHERE THEY ARE GETTING THE MONEY FROM???

      • He is tired of reading all the lies about Blanton being innocence spread by knuckleheads like you.

        p.s.: Blanton is worm food.

      • M-m-maybe it’s because i’m a Londoner, that i love London town, i get a funny feeling inside-a-me, jus’ walkin’ up and down..’

  36. who r u ppl to judge. PPl like u all the one s who keep the hate going u all need to be less judgmental and spend more time cleaning out your own back yards

    • Who are we *not* to judge? Oh, wait…we’re not a bunch of felons, murderers, or murder lovers.

      Beat it, dumbass!

  37. Well said Anonymous….. No news yet about Hood.

    • Big Sis, you are still waiting for news on a new date??? What are they waiting for? Christmas?

      • Yes still waiting for news, probably won’t hear anything until Dec when their deadline for rebuttle to the last decision. God only knows when a new date will be set! It’s frustrating to say the least.

  38. The death penalty is a violation of fundamental human rights: the right to life and the right not to be subjected to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment. It undermines civil relations in society and the dignity of the people that live in it.

  39. the death penalty neither deters crime nor helps the victims. Miscarriages of justice also occur far more often than most people realise. Furthermore, an innocent person can be executed on purpose, capital punishment being a notorious means of silencing political opponents. The death penalty is often applied in an unfair, arbitrary and discriminatory manner. Its irrevocable nature leaves it open to abuse. According to the US Death Penalty Information Centre, 123 people have been released from Death Row since 1976 after being wrongly convicted.

  40. It might seem
    paradoxical that
    someone who has
    raped and murdered
    has the right to live
    when their victims have
    suffered so cruelly.
    Yet killing by the
State – which is in effect
    what the death penalty
    is – does not defend
    the victim’s rights either.
    Killing the criminal
    is simply another crime
    – and it cannot right a
    past wrong or ease any
    of the pain the victim
    experienced. It does
    not restore a victim to
    life – but rather extends
    a cycle of violence and
    brutality. Human rights
    abuses should not
    be met with another
    human rights abuse.
    Abolishing the death
    penalty does not
    mean being soft on
    crime – people who
    commit terrible crimes
    should be punished
    severely and learn
    that their behaviour
    is unacceptable.

    • One, you are fucking obnoxious for posting the way you did. Two, luckily, it makes it difficult to read and no one will read your garbage because of it.

I guess we can’t expect someone who doesn’t believe in the law to follow simple blog etiquette.

      • I READ IT, WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM? OH EXCUSE ME, ANYONE MAKING SENSE IT IS VERY HARD FOR U TO READ, U ARE SO FULL OF H A T E, OH PLEASE FOR GIVE ME, MAYBE U CAN READ THIS, YOU ARE SO FULL OF HATE.

        • Reading isn’t your strong suit, cupcake. You are so full of shit.

  41. Florida botched the electric chair execution of Allen Lee Davis (aka “Tiny”) on July 8, 1999. He was a pedophile and murderer of three, and after strapping him to the electric chair the equipment malfunctioned. They strapped it on again and burned him up until he was dead. There have been 1,000 homicides in legalized state death chambers since 1976, and there are still “street” homicides happening everyday in America. If the death penalty is a deterrent, why are homicides, many of which are heinous in nature, still happening? In Houston, there was a rash of 14 homicides over the Thanksgiving weekend. This is ironic especially considering Texas is the top death penalty state in the country. If it were a country unto itself, Texas would lead the world in government sanctioned murder. Its death penalty and robust death chamber did not stop James Byrd, Jr. from being dragged to his death in Jasper, Texas nor did it stop 14 homicides from happening in Houston over Thanksgiving.

Although crime and homicide rates are at a 30-year low according to the FBI, it is likely due to improved quality of life in America – not the death penalty.

    • U ARE A LIAR would be a better name for you.

      * The Davis execution was hardly botched in that he was executed.

      * The equipment *never* malfunctioned.

      * Burns to the surface area are not uncommon during execution by electricity.

      * There is no pain in that unconsciousness and brain death occurs in milliseconds.

      * The death penalty is a deterrent in that for each inmate put to death, 3 to 18 murders are prevented.

      * It would be even greater if the DP was used more frequently and more quickly.

      * Deterrence is not the only reason, if a reason at all, we have the DP.

      * To deter does not mean to stop.

      * Violent crime is down because of better law enforcement techniques and 3 strikes laws. IOW, people who would murder are already in prison.

      * Don’t copy and paste shit off the internet without attribution.

      • ‘if paradise was half as nice as heaven that you take me to, who needs paradise? i’d rather have you…’

  42. Just double-checking, but this piece-of-shit animal is still dead, right?

  43. For clarification purposes, Carlos, L’K, and the Liar are all posting from the same ip address in Sweden.
Sock puppets for a scumpal shouldn’t surprise any here.

  44. the fact that the death penalty supporters personally attack those who are against it shows their real character. someone who wants to see someone dead he/she doesnt even know makes you just as bad as someone who killed someone. but i dont wish death to you guys because i think your opinion is wronger than wrong. i just hope you one day find your brains.

    • It’s people’s lack of character that is being attacked. People who lie, plagiarize, or like you, make dumbass analogies between those who support the DP and people who murder while committing burglary and robbery, have no character. I think you are dumber than dumb and have no brains to find.

      • dumber than dumb?! my master degree speaks a different language. now, talk to the hand, the face aint listening to someone who uses my arguments instead of coming up with something on your own.

        • I have a masters and a PhD. You had no arguments — just insults. And the stupidity of your posts and inability to use simple rules of grammar belie your claims of an education.

  45. HAHAHAHA!

  46. This skank Sandie from UK has still got a paypal page to collect money for his defense fund. Somebody needs to tell her he’s DEAD. She calls herself Sandie Blanton but she’still married to that other DR scum Chucky Mamou. Does she need therapy or what?

Still………………plenty more there to chose another playmate.

  47. Found this and thought it was interesting:

My name is Debra Estrada and I was one of the people who was with Carlos Garza last. Actually it was minutes after I left his apt that he was murdered. In my testimony AND when I testified to the court I stated that the jewelry that Reginald pawned was the same jewelry that Carlos was wearing when I left his apt. I spent the last nine days of his life with him except for the time I had to work we were with each other the whole nine days and nights. Not once did Reginald visit Carlos or the other way around. So there is no way that the jewelry was reginald’s. Maybe that is why the state did not want to consider further investigation of his case.

I also testified that there was another black man that Carlos had talked to outside if his apt and this is the man who Reginald claims could not be found. Also not true. This man who “could not be found” paid his respects to Carlos at his funeral. Hmmmm was Reginald there? No he was not. Wouldn’t you want to go to your friend’s funeral? Especially if that friend was close enough to you that you two traded jewelry from time to time.

    • DID CARLOS HAVE A WIFE? WHO ARE U? WASN’T REGINALD IN JAIL? I WOULDN’T THINK THAT THE LAW WOULD LET HIM OUT, WHAT DO YOU THINK???

  48. I’m sure there was time to pay his respects at the wake before he was arrested.

  49. there are those who have comitted crimes and deserve to suffer for what they have done, but i believe reginald blanton was an innocent man and didnt deserve to pay the price of his life for a crime he didnt commit. You can tell apart who are criminals and who arent, and i believe reg was not one of them. He had guts knowing that he was to be killed by leathal injection for something he did not do, an innocent man had his live taken by the fault of someone else. There was no proof that he had murdered carlos garza! Some of you may think that sandie was crazy for what she did but she tried to fight for a mans life, a man that she loved wouldnt we all! everyone is entitled to their own opinion but i still believe he was innocent!

    • If you’re real nice to Sandie, she might share the ashes with you so you too can masturbate with Reggie!

    • I love when people who are barely literate think they are going to be met with anything but scorn when they come here and lecture us on the evidence and law of these cases.

He was a stone cold murderer and gang punk. There was nothing brave about the son of a bitch. Now piss off, wanker!

    • everyone is entitled to their own opinion

My opinion is that you and your opinion are idiots.

  50. All’s still quiet on the Perry front. He’s lost in state court and headed for federal court. For such a noisy bunch they are unusually quiet except for an occasional cheapshot at the wits and victims.
