Black Friday Gun Shopping

I ventured out to brave the Black Friday shopping crowds today and headed down to Cabela’s outfitter in Buda, TX to replenish my stock of .45 ACP ammo.

The parking lot was as full as I’ve seen it in quite some time, but when I walked in the front doors, it didn’t seem all that crowded. Until I got to the back of the store, where all the ammo and guns are sold.

If you want to know what Texans are buying for Christmas, if you judge by the crowds at Cabela’s today, it’s guns and ammo:

Picking out a hammerless snub-nosed revolver for the missus?

Picking out a hammerless snub-nosed revolver for the missus?

Thankfully I wasn’t shopping for a new gun today, because I was told that in order to speak to a gun salesman, you had to take a number and then expect to wait anywhere from 30-45 minutes:

Want to buy a gun? Take a number and get in line

Cabela’s is like Disney Land for gun enthusiasts:

So many guns, so little time...

So many guns, so little time...

All I want for Christmas is a new shotgun:

I'm sorry...how much for this shotgun?

I'm sorry...how much for this shotgun?

Though, I don’t think I was $34,999 good for Christmas this year:

Maybe next year....?

Maybe next year....?

Yikes…

  1. For a more reasonable price tag, you could have gone Black Gun Friday Shopping.
    Like an HK MR762.
Those high end hand crafted and engraved over-unders are nice to look at, but Mr. Murphy has his way with them.
Knew a guy that waited two and a half years for his custom $25K Beretta. Had it a few weeks and decided to take it to the valley for dove season. Continental Airlines dropped his gun case on the loading ramp. It landed on the edge of the aluminum case, damaging the hinges, and causing the receiver to gouge out a thumbnail sized chunk of the engraved European Walnut stock.
    OUCH!

  2. If what you are looking for is a good skeet gun, but one that has other uses, look no further.

  3. I was going to head to Buda yesterday but figured it’d be packed. Went to Reds indoor instead.

  4. I’ve never owned a gun, but with Bush III in office, who knows.

      • Seriously. I mean, rampant spending, more wars on terror, and the likely possibility that the Patriot Act will be extended.

Now that we know we have a right wing nut case in office, I need a gun.

        • Why I Parted Ways With The Right

          1. Support for fascists, both in America (see: Pat Buchanan, Robert Stacy McCain, etc.) and in Europe (see: Vlaams Belang, BNP, SIOE, Pat Buchanan, etc.)

          2. Support for bigotry, hatred, and white supremacism (see: Pat Buchanan, Ann Coulter, Robert Stacy McCain, Lew Rockwell, etc.)

          3. Support for throwing women back into the Dark Ages, and general religious fanaticism (see: Operation Rescue, anti-abortion groups, James Dobson, Pat Robertson, Tony Perkins, the entire religious right, etc.)

          4. Support for anti-science bad craziness (see: creationism, climate change denialism, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, James Inhofe, etc.)

          5. Support for homophobic bigotry (see: Sarah Palin, Dobson, the entire religious right, etc.)

          6. Support for anti-government lunacy (see: tea parties, militias, Fox News, Glenn Beck, etc.)

          7. Support for conspiracy theories and hate speech (see: Alex Jones, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Birthers, creationists, climate deniers, etc.)

          8. A right-wing blogosphere that is almost universally dominated by raging hate speech (see: Hot Air, Free Republic, Ace of Spades, etc.)

          9. Anti-Islamic bigotry that goes far beyond simply criticizing radical Islam, into support for fascism, violence, and genocide (see: Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer, etc.)

          10. Hatred for President Obama that goes far beyond simply criticizing his policies, into racism, hate speech, and bizarre conspiracy theories (see: witch doctor pictures, tea parties, Birthers, Michelle Malkin, Fox News, World Net Daily, Newsmax, and every other right wing source)

And much, much more. The American right wing has gone off the rails, into the bushes, and off the cliff.

I won’t be going over the cliff with them.

        • So, Ryan, why would you copy/paste what that reborn lefturd Charles Johnson at lgf wrote?
Were you attempting to claim his drivel as your own, perhaps?
You must have noticed that hardly anyone bothers to click onto his pathetic site, so you probably thought you could get away with it.
I haven’t given his site a click in almost four years, but many follow his descent into madness, and let me know about his latest incoherent ramblings.

          climate change denialism

Now that’s funny, I don’t care who you are.

        • I bought most of my guns and ammo during the Clintoon years.
Ol Bubba was actually going after our freedoms with the Brady Bunch Bill, and the (alleged)assault weapon.

  5. Because, NO2LIBERALS, I hate Conservatives, GOPers, Tea Baggers, Patriots, whatever you want to call those who think a bigger govt, bigger deficit, more war, and fewer taxes are a good thing.

And yes, I get that you prance around yelling about the evils of big govt and a big deficit, but history shows you love them!

    ;)

    • Call me a bigot, call me a hater, call me racist, but I am proud to be all of those.

      I AM PRO-AMERICA AND ANTI-NON WHITE AMERICANS!

    • Uhh…Ryan, you contradict yourself. That, or you believe the current president and lefturd controlled Congress are none of those things.
As for my history, what would you know of it?

      Posted by No2Liberals | December 1, 2009, 7:03 pm
      • Its called humor, NO2LIBERALS, I even explained the joke to you in the second sentence.

The right grows the govt and spends just like anyone else, yet claim (and even believe!) they do just the opposite.

Reality tells a different story. That is the joke.

        Posted by Ryan | December 1, 2009, 7:13 pm
        • I didn’t see an explanation or a joke.
Whatever it is that goes on in your head, I suggest you keep it there. It doesn’t translate well beyond that point.
Still, copying and pasting the words of someone else without attribution, is widely acknowledged as plagiarism.
Even worse, the words of a certified whack-job who has become another of the knob slobbers of B-HO. If you agree with all that CJ said, and wish to claim it is as your own, then you need to drop the pretense of being opposed to big government.

  6. The only shopping I would do on black Friday, is gun shopping.

    Posted by bar | December 1, 2009, 2:51 pm
  7. Yes I would, I like black guns.
    lol.

    Posted by bar | December 1, 2009, 7:06 pm
  8. Man, that didnt sound right.

    Posted by bar | December 1, 2009, 7:06 pm
  9. NO2LIBERALS, if you dont see how hilarious it is that for the past 80 years people like you claim to be anti-big govt yet still support GOP candidates (and Presidents) who spent like it was going out of style, then I cannot take you seriously.

If that is the case, you are bias for bias sake, and pay no attention to reality.

As for me, Ill watch as Bush III sends 30,000 more Americans away from their families.

    Posted by Ryan | December 1, 2009, 7:41 pm
    • I take it you are a Paulian?
If that is the case, then my not taking you seriously was a good choice.
As for me supporting big government, that is completely false, and one of my major differences with W.
What we have now is a radical Marxist as president, with a liberal Congress.
Even on its worst day, the GOP has never behaved the way they do.
As for the additional troops Gen. McChrystal requested, you mean the 30,000 of the 40,000 he requested 92 days ago, which he won’t get in the way he requested, or in the time frame. BTW, the time elapsed between the time the Twin Towers fell, and the Taliban was removed from power in Afghanistan was 64 days. W didn’t dither when it came to national security.
This dithering president has already said he isn’t “comfortable” with the concept of victory, and he means it.

    • 80 years?
      That’s complete bunkum.

Sometimes the lesser of two evils is the only choice.
