Thanks for the link, Robbie. I’m flattered.

When I saw that tax funded abortion was included in the plan the House approved, it reminded me of this conversation I had twenty years ago with a staunch conservative. It was an interesting perspective that I had never considered and I thought it was worthy of discussion in light of current events.

My position on abortion is pro-life. I believe abortion is murder. I don’t like abortion and I certainly don’t want to fund anyone’s abortion through my tax dollars.

I also don’t believe that I should be responsible financially for housing, feeding, clothing or providing health care for anyone else’s offspring through government redistribution of my tax dollars.

Considering the wide array of convenient birth control methods, I don’t see any excuse for 99% of the abortions taking place in our country. I wish women would start taking responsibility for their sexuality, it’s just not that difficult.

My boy John John Culberson, current Houston District 7 Rep, is anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage, AND ANTI-CHURCH STATE SEPARATION!

I think i would be more in favor of a “one time” $5,000 payout for anyone volunteering for sterilization surgery…and even that might be a little too much to spend. Government funded abortion will never solve the problem of welfare babies and generational welfare dependency. Address the issues and policies that allow people to “take advantage of the system” and perhaps the money saved could pay for more serializations.

This is one of those things I have changed my mind on with time and maturity. I cannot support abortion and certainly do not want my tax dollars paying for it. The Repubs seemed to indicate during the debate that the conscience clause wasn’t even clear in the Senate Bill. I’d like to try to see them force a pro-life health professional or org. to participate in an abortion. There will be “hell” to pay if that happens.

I guess it’s six of one/half a dozen of the other. The gov. isn’t banning abortion, they are just refusing to pay for elective surgery. You may say it’s the same result, but why is it okay to legislate that people who do object to have to pay for it?

Again, people who want abortions are more than capable of paying for them their selves.

The people you are attempting to target – are not having babies because they lack the funds to have abortions. They are getting pregnant and having children because they want to.

Just to be clear, while I am pro-choice, I also believe abortion to be horribly and morally reprehensible. I would never have any part of it in my own life.

But I also believe that abortion is ultimately a moral choice and the government has no business legislating morality (not that that stops them from doing it many aspects of our lives).

I never thought of the fact that it probably has killed off millions of liberal voters. interesting. I suppose that is why they support the flood from across the border.
