Today is election day around the nation. So, if you haven’t already done so (I early voted last week), make sure you get out and put your most important right to good use today.
Texas Constitutional Amendments Election
For all of my Texas friends, family, and readers of my little corner of the Interwebs — please go vote today.
My recommendations for the 11 Constitutional amendments on today’s ballot can be found here, but here’s how I recommend you vote today:
- FOR: 2, 5, 6, 7, and 11
- AGAINST: 1, 3, 4, 8, 9, and 10
NY, VA, and NJ
For those of you in Virgiania, New Jersey, and NY Congressional District 23 — today is a huge day; a day to send a powerful message not just to Democrats, but to establishment GOP’ers (like Nuke Gingrich, Kay Bailey Hutchison, and Dick Cheney).
With Obama on the ticket, the Democrats carried Virginia in 2008. But without Obama on the ticket, the Republican Robert F. McDonnell has opened a 13-point lead over Democrat R. Creigh Deeds.
In a tighter race in New Jersey, former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie (R) hold s slim lead over incumbent Gov. Jon Corzine (D). Corzine is one of the nation’s worst governors (with the possible exception of the Governator):
Corzine’s record as governor is abysmal. He has raised taxes on income, property, cigarettes, alcohol, and lottery winnings just this year. New Jersey’s tax climate is among the nation’s most onerous, and residents are leaving the state in droves – over 462,000 left between 1998 and 2007, according to ALEC. Corzine was one of the first governors to vocally support President Obama’s federal bailout of state governments, which propped up New Jersey’s budget temporarily but will leave a gaping deficit the next time around. Corzine promised spending transparency in New Jersey (see NTU’s letter to the Governor) but ultimately has not delivered.
Then of course there is our very special Congressional race in NY-23, where the GOP party establishment backed and supported the radical Liberal Dede Scozzafava. Scozzafava was also supported and endorsed by the far left wing of the Democrat party (such as the Daily Kos), because she was “more left than the Democrat candidate).
But in a huge win for grassroots Conservatives, Scozzafava withdrew from the race after a huge groundswell of support for the Conservative Party candidate, Doug Hoffman.
Not surprisingly, Scozzafava then endorsed the Democrat candidate before hinting she might switch parties. Good riddance, I say.
Meanwhile, he Left and their mouthpiece media (the AP) are already downplaying their losses today (via Michelle Malkin):
Democrats and their media water-carriers got a head-start with this preemptive AP piece downplaying anticipated GOP wins.

The NY District is 23, not 10.
Oops. Thanks…my Congressional district is TX-10…got ‘em confused. Fixed now.
I see you have it in there elsewhere under the correct number. But the one on the intro line threw me.
