Robert Lee Thompson: Set to Die Under the Law of Parties

UPDATE: He’s dead.

Tonight is the third of three consecutive scheduled executions in Texas. So far we’re 1 for 2 — the first was postponed while the second went off without a hitch.

Robert Lee Thompson is scheduled to die tonight shortly after 6:00 p.m. Huntsville time.

The state Board of Parsons of Paroles voted 5-2 to recommend that Perry commute Thompson’s sentence to life, as he was convicted under the law of parties.

I made my case a few weeks ago as to why Thompson is exactly the type of case that the Law of Parties should apply to.

During a robbery, Thompson and his accomplice each shot a different man. Thompson shot his victim 4 times, and had the gun pointed directly against his temple when pulled the trigger a fifth time. Fortunately for his victim, Thompson was out of bullets. So Thompson pistol whipped him instead.

Unfortunately, the other convenience store clerk was murdered by Thompson’s accomplice. So, even though Thompson’s victim didn’t die…it wasn’t for lack of Thompson trying to kill him.

Thankfully, Gov. Rick Perry just moments ago refused to commute Thompson’s death sentence…which means that the evil POS wil be dead in a few minutes from now:

“After reviewing all of the facts in the case of … Thompson, who had a murderous history and participated in the killing of Mansoor Bhai Rahim Mohammed, I have decided to uphold the jury’s capital murder conviction and capital punishment for this heinous crime.

“There is no reason to set aside the capital murder conviction handed down by a Texas jury and upheld by numerous state and federal courts,” Perry said.

  1. Thompson murdered two other clerks during robberies within 24 hours of this one. He was also a racist.

  2. You are on the ball, Robbie.
I just refreshed to see if the Gov’s statement had been posted.

  4. Once again…He’s dead, Jim.
A few choice comments from Satan’s new prison bitch:

I know Allah will forgive me

Of course he will, you two are kindred spirits. Sick, twisted murderous bastards.

Thompson blamed the spree on the recklessness of youth.

“It was impulsive … nothing planned,” he said. “Just — Bam!”

It was his lack of impulse control that caused so many so much pain, and his own demise.
    Good riddance to bad rubbish.

  8. I personally knew this man and all I have to say is…..Walk a mile in his shoes before you judge him. This does not mean that I am excusing his actions, just letting you all know that there is a story behind the madness that lead to this young man beoming such a monster. A man who had no mother or father to show him a better way. Living with his aunt who was barely making it herself at 80 years old trying to raise an uneducated 21 y.o. man. He went to church faithful. He was a self taught pianist and received a little money for his time just to be able to have food for the night. He did not have the things that most of your kids have…warm, clean clothes…food to eat every night, and parents to teach you the way to be a man/woman. Since most of you seem to be racist, you may not care, but this was once a decent person who belonged to someone who loved them the same as you love. And somewhere along the way he took a very dark, very wrong turn and never quit found his way back….or at least we think. As long as he was remorseful and had made his peace, then what you think really doesnt matter….now does it? It can’t change a thing now. Be kind to others the way God intended because one day you too will have to answer for you sins however small you may THINK they are. No one sin is greater than the other.

    • Robert Lee Thompson the child did not have a choice in who raised him. However, Robert Lee Thompson the adult chose to participate in the taking of a life. It is a choice where as a consequence the State of Texas deems a punishment of death may be warranted.

    • First of all, everyone has a story. I’ve heard of people who had it worse than he and not only survived without murdering, but thrived.

      He went to church faithful.

Unh-hunh, and in his last statement, he claimed “allah would forgive him.” Correct me if I’m wrong, but that sure sounds like filthy muslim talk.

Since most of you seem to be racist

How typical, and yet so pathetic.

The modern definition of ‘racist’ is someone who is winning an argument with a liberal.

      Peter Brimelow.

No one sin is greater than the other.

You clearly aren’t a religious scholar. Thou Shalt Not Murder is God’s commandment number six.

    • Karena: You’re the racist here. You believe that because Thompson was black and had a tough childhood he was destined to be a murdering, thieving thug. Get real. Many people have disadvantaged backgrounds and do not use it as an excuse to murder.
You and your ilk have a screw loose when you try to argue that jay walking is akin to murdering three people. And no, he didn’t just take a wrong turn one day. Seek psych help.
