Well, by now you’ve read that Nebraska Sen. Bill Nelson (D) has caved been persuaded was bribed with potentially hundreds of millions of dollars in Federal money (since the Fed doesn’t actually have any money of their own, let’s just call it what it really is — tax payer dollars) to support a health care industry-destroying piece (of shit) legislation that is guaranteed to bankrupt our nation while simultaneously reducing the quality of care for everybody.
Scared Monkeys has it right: “How does a Senator where 67% of his state is against Obamacare vote for a piece of legislation that is so bad that the LEFT and RIGHT are actually in agreement to KILL THE BILL?”
Well, the answer is that Nelson was paid off. He has proven to be nothing more than another typical power-and-money loving politician. Hopefully that 67% of Nebraskans who opposed the bill will make sure that Ben Nelson is unemployed the next time he runs for re-election.
OTHERS:
Vodka Pundit: “There’s your modern American democracy in action, as senators buy one another’s votes with other people’s money.”
Sobriety and sanity are vastly over-rated with the 111th Congress. The news that Senator Nelson has proven as craven, dishonorable, and un-Constitutional as my brace of buffoons, Webb and Warner, comes as scant surprise. The Weekly Standard indicates that this is tantamount to abortion approval in 13 States. Just as long as you don’t waterboard the unborn after you slaughter them, it’s OK.
The deal he is signing on to will subsidize abortion with Federal tax dollars in at least 13 states. He was against abortion before he was for it. But it was just a matter of how much money was involved. Probably already lining up to score big bucks when he retires in 2012, too. So much for trusting Blue Dogs. Remember that in 2010.
Much more on Sen. Nelson’s moral cowardice at Memeorandum.

It’s time for a the citizens of this country to withhold any tax payments to the government.
We need to break the goverment.
Looks like Nelson was paid off by Reid giving a deal to where his state gets ALL of it’s Medicaid bills paid for by the rest of us.
Almost all of them are voting against the wishes of the majority of their constituents. They don’t care. I had no doubt Nelson was going to cave. He was just holding out to get as much out of it as he could. Pig. Why do the taxpayers have to fund the bribes used to buy him off so he would vote against the citizens of Nebraska’s wishes?
*spit*
These elected officials, for some unknown reason, view themselves as above us all. That we have allowed them to treat us this way, with their lies and promises, is a matter that we must resolve.
I am not, and never will be, a servant to the self-anointed elites.
We need to get serious about removing these cretins from our government.
I chose my nic years ago because I saw what liberals were all about.
The gloves are off now, though I should have responded in that fashion when the liberals took theirs off in the 60′s. Instead I never took them seriously, I didn’t see how anyone could, they were so funny with their goofy ideas.
My bad.
The Senate voting schedule, from The Heritage Foundation.
At this point, any intervention in this proposed legislation I will consider divine.
How can it be constitutional for the democrats to make deals with states like Nebraska (all medicaid paid for by feds i.e. US), and also some deals struck in Fla. where their Medicare Advantage customers don’t lose their insurance but everybody else does? Why isn’t the Republican party filing suit?????
