On April 30, 1997, Bobby Wayne Woods entered the home of his ex-girlfriend Schwana Patterson through an open window. Woods then raped her 11-year daughter, Sarah, then abducted her and her 9-year-old brother, Cody.
Cody was bashed against a tree, choked, and left to die on the shore of Lake Granbury (near Ft. Worth).
Cody, who was beaten so badly that doctors had to pull skull fragments from his brain, testified that it was Mr. Woods who attacked him and his sister.
Sarah wasn’t as lucky; Woods slit Sarah’s throat, resulting in her death.
He raped, kidnapped, and murdered an 11-year old child.Little Sarah would be 23 years old. Probably just graduated from college. Maybe just getting ready to start a career or a family.
But Bobby Woods stole that from her.
Woods was scheduled to be executed in October of last year, but a judge ordered a stay to further explore a claim that Bobby was retarded, and thus ineligible for the death penalty.
He’s not and he is.
And on Thursday, December 3, Bobby Wayne Woods will finally be put to death for that murder he committed 12 years ago.
