Classic case of suicide by cop:

A Harris County constable deputy shot and killed a man who pointed a gun and threatened to kill him Saturday during a domestic disturbance call, authorities said.

The Precinct 4 deputy fired several shots at 27-year-old Jason Turner, who had minutes earlier shot his ex-girlfriend, officers said.

[...]

The woman called authorities about 3:15 a.m. to report that Turner had broken the windows at her home in 11700 block of Spring Path Court and then fled in a white Fort F-120 pickup.

When the deputy arrived to the northwest Harris County subdivision, he saw Turner speeding through the neighborhood and pursued him. Turner drove back to his ex-girlfriend’s house, got out of his truck, ran to the front door and fired several shots through the door, striking his ex-girlfriend, officers say.

Turner then hurried back toward the street with his gun pointed at the deputy. He repeatedly told the deputy that he would kill him, unless the deputy killed him first, authorities said.

Turner refused the deputy’s order to drop his gun and get on the ground. Turner then threatened to kill a woman who ran out of the house before pointing his gun at the deputy again, and that’s when the deputy fired several shots at Turner, officers say.

First and foremost, I’m thankful that Deputy Turner was able to go home and see his family after his shift.

Secondly, if this woman had a gun in her home, she would have been able to defend herself when her lunatic ex-boyfriend broke her window the first time.

And lastly — the reporters at the Houston Chronicle — what the hell is a Fort F-120 pickup? You obviously meant Ford instead of Fort, but any good Texan can tell you right away that there is no such creature as a model F-120.

One Response to “Houston: Suicide by Cop”

  1. Years ago, we always referred to incidents like this as “Blue Suicide.”

    Effing reporters.
They know nothing and won’t bother to find out. I’ll bet if dingus had been driving a Volvo or Saab, they would have known which model, the type of engine and all its specs.

As to the officer, I respect his restraint, but I think I would have fired sooner, before the suspect could have pointed the gun at any one.
