We elect Senators and Representatives to Congress to —wait for it — REPRESENT us and our views. We did not elect you to “think for us,” or because you’re smarter than us and better equipped to make decisions about our lives for us than we are…Because we didn’t and you’re not.
And if you cannot fulfill your single responsibility — representing OUR views, wants, and needs rather than YOUR own selfish and partisan interests, we will find someone who will.
They are not in Washington to further their party’s agenda, to further their own personal interests, or to line their pockets with tax payer and special interest money. Even though that is what most of them (both sides of the aisle) are doing.
There seems to be a theme that is gaining moment throughout Congress, and that’s Senators and Congressmen flipping the middle finger to their constituents and voting arrogantly against their overwhelming opposition. It’s a sickening arrogance — they think that they know better then we do on the issues that matter to us.
Like Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) who, a few months ago, admitted that he doesn’t care what his constituents want, he will vote against their wishes regardless. While Lloyd is probably safe in his next bid for re-election, that’s not true for everybody who is thumbing their noses at their constituents.

Sen. Byron Dorgan
Like Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-ND). Only 30% of his constituents support Obamacare. Which means that 70% do NOT support it. But that hasn’t stopped Sen. Dorgan from supporting it — and the idiot didn’t even get any special bribes benefits for his sate, a la Ben Nelson and Mary Landrieu.
Which might explain this latest Rasmussen poll:
Incumbent Democratic Senator Byron Dorgan may have a serious problem on his hands if Republicans recruit Governor John Hoeven to run for the U.S. Senate in North Dakota next year.
The first Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 telephone survey of likely voters in North Dakota finds the popular Republican governor leading Dorgan by 22 points – 58% to 36%. Just six percent (6%) are undecided in that senatorial contest.
Part of the challenge for Dorgan is the health care legislation working its way through Congress. Dorgan, along with every Democrat in the Senate, has voted to move the legislation forward and is expected to vote for final approval of the reform later this week. That’s not likely to be well received in North Dakota where just 30% favor the proposed health care reform plan and 64% are opposed.
So go ahead and vote against the wishes of the people who hired you to represent them. Just don’t act surprised when they vote your ass out of the office at the next available opportunity.
_____________
OTHERS:
Dorgan’s poor showing indicates a big problem for a man who won his last election by over 30 points. Like most Democratic Senators from red states, Dorgan has tried arguing that he represents common-sense moderation over partisan agendas. His participation in passing ObamaCare makes a mockery of that claim, and North Dakota voters see him now as a man who carries water for Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama.
Hmm. If a Dorgan is not safe — down 22 points — maybe no Democratic Senate seat is safe this year.
Considering that the Senate seats previously held by President Obama and Vice President Biden are not safe seats for Democrats, that’s a pretty fair point made by Mr. Surber.
Conservatives, moderates, and independents are overwhelmingly against the current rushed scheme of Obamacare, where votes are purchased with publicly-funded bribes, with one senator reaching into our wallets to pay off the vote of another.

According to reports, the pep rally B-HØ gave the Senate on Sunday 13 Dec 09, was to remind them that the passage of their idea of health care reform was an “historic” event.
That is at least as sorry an excuse for passing legislation as one can think of, and equates with the level of corruption needed to get it passed.
I honestly believe the mid term election of 2010 will be a jackass bloodbath, that the voters will not forget what has been done by this administration or Congress, as the jackasses expect they will.
Also, there could be some other very serious repercussions from the actions of Senators in making deals for votes.
Such as the U.S. code on Bribery of Officials.
Harry Reid is behind double digits to both republicans here in Nevada..We despise what he has been doing .He thinks he can spend millions of taxpayer dollars to win re-election.WRONG.Like my friend said,”we will crawl on broken glass to vote him out in 12 months “.Bye bye…harry.
What happens when the health reform law goes into effect and it turns out that there’s no death panels and there’s no change in taxes for most people but those unfortunates who have been out in the cold with pre-existing conditions can finally get health insurance? Republicans have got nothing.
What happens when you discover the reality of market forces?
Your head will explode.
That is where you lost your argument.
If you are dumb enough to believe that this multi-billion dollar boondoggle isn’t going to lead to higher taxes on everyone then you need to quit posting on here.
This legislation is going to screw everyone over from the rich to the poor, Democrat to Republican. Big deal, everyone is now going to have health care. Too bad it will be poorer in quality than what we currently enjoy.
This is nothing more than socialism at its finest!
Being a medical student, I am happy to see changes to our healthcare system. Healthcare needs to become less of a business and more of the right thing to do. There is a reason that other countries have better mortality rates and live longer; because they do not deny healthcare. Far too long have insurance companies been able to drop coverage on an individual without any regulation. Lets get real, just because the work “social” is attached to this does not make it evil. I’m sure those who collect “social” security do not complain about the funds they receive. I have never heard one person who collects SS say, “that damn government needs to quit giving me money every month.” I am sure, I will not hear any one say, “I really do not want any more reasonably priced healthcare.” Especially from those who have been denied due to “pre-existing conditions”. Yes, I know my taxes will go up. I am ok with that knowing it will go to help my fellow man. It’s not socialism, its the right thing to do.
Chris, whatever you think this “change” is to our health care system, it is not adaptive change.
If all we needed to do was provide insurance to 30-45 million people, it would have been far cheaper to the American tax payer if we just bought them a first class health insurance policy.
This aberration that is being passed in our congress, through a plethora of bribes to public officials for their votes, is a fundamental change in the command and control of the American public.
This legislation isn’t about health care, it is about giving the government more control over our lives, it is about the removal of freedom.
As a medical student, you need to wise up, if indeed you are one. There will be fewer and fewer joining your ranks, as they won’t be able to make the kind of living they would like, or that doctors have grown accustomed to.
Who gives a shit if you don’t mind if your taxes go up, I doubt you pay much now, but your daddy does.
I care, and you should too, that millions of Americans are going to lose their jobs and their insurance because of this legislation, with the Senate bill having 16 new taxes that they refer to as “revenue enhancers” included, and only one of those taxes is directed at the wealthiest Americans, and those taxes go into effect the first of the year. Everyone gets taxed more, prices on everything will go up, and the supposed health benefits don’t even kick in until 2014. If the need to insure those uninsured and uninsureables is so urgent, why the long wait?
Have you asked any serious questions with suspicions about the governments actions?
If not you should, because if you truly are a medical student, you are going to be on the front line of those first to be screwed, and it begins with the bureaucrat standing in the door between you and your patients.
Well to be quite honest, letting our government regulate our healthcare cannot be any worse than the unregulated insurance industry. Also, my daddy doesn’t pay my way through college. I am not a 22 year old living on my parents dime. I am 29 and paying my own way though my education. Through all my hospital experience, it is disturbing to see an insure company hand someone a death sentance because they can label an upcoming standard of care as experimental or deem it a pre-existing condition. With the state of our healthcare as it is, I would be willing to let about anyone try to improve it. I know some people go into medicine for the money, but I have chosen medicine for less selfish motives.
Spoken like a committed leftist.
I notice you don’t mention the loss of freedom, or the absence of tort reform or insurance competition across state lines.
Medice, cura te ipsum!
Under the UK’s national health care scheme, if they refuse to pay for a medication because it is too expensive, and you obtain in on your own and pay for it out of pocket, the NHS will no longer treat the person.
Why? Because they believe it is unfair for those who have money to seek better healthcare than those who do not, so they in effect, punish people.
Utter bollocks-Has fox news been spouting one sided crap yet again?.
Fact-the NHS is free to one and all, should a person wish to seek extra health care, thats everyone”s right to do so.
Yes as with any system,it has flaws, but you are misinformed, about certain facts-Should a person have six months to live, rather than paying say £50,000 to give them an extra 2 months to live-the money is spent on pallitive care.
Have you been at the bedside of a loved one, riddled with cancer, dosed up so high, they have no idea who anyone is-where they are, crippled with pain? thats not life, that is existing
I work, i pay taxes, am i better or more important than a person who earns less, and cannot affort to enter into private care?.
If you pay ito the system, all should be able to use it.
You are rightt in one fact-if a person is told, they have six months to live, the Nhs will happily spend the money on you, making your last months as comfy as possible, should you then go and spend £50,000 on meds that will give you an extra few weeks-they will often advice,to seek private care-even the Nhs has a budget,as does private
There you go, wrong about…well, everything.
If it weren’t for FOX news there wouldn’t be any cable news service in this country worth watching.
As for your NHS, you can keep it. In the meanwhile, the system the socialist in this country just tried to ram down our throat is in the process of being dismantled, Thank God.
Other than having to wait in an ambulance for hours so the record keepers can say emergency room waits aren’t very long, your NHS is a nightmare.
Don’t even bring up dentistry.
Yep, there are going to be death panels. These will be bureaucrats who decide who and who does not get treated based on what they deem a person’s worth is. Again, the UK is an example: The Liverpool Care Pathway. It’s more like the pathway to a quick and premature death.
In the UK, when you are old and sick and go to a hospital, against your wishes and that of your family, they will withdraw care and hydration, in effect, killing you.
In the US, we stick an IV in them, hydrate them, give them antibiotics, feed them, and send them home.
*them – those who can afford it
BTW – this bill is disgusting. I want health care reform, not health coverage for all.
Don’t comment on things you know nothing about. We do not turn people away from ERs. Those in need of hospitalization receive it regardless of ability to pay. Those who truly can’t afford to pay are not required to pay.
You are correct about the ER.
You are, naturally, wrong about the UK.
Comparing our bill for coverage and their system is apples and oranges.
Bullshit.
Correct, your statements about the UK health system are BS.
The The Liverpool Care Pathway is “best practice” GUIDE for doctors to ease pain in the last few hours or days of a patients life.
There are no rules. There are no mandates (ie – when your patient reaches this state – kill em!) It is STILL the doctors decision.
The NHS has a great site all about it. You should check it out.
I am sixty five years old and I am a veteran of Vietnam War. I have seen many presidents come and go. But I can honestly say I have never seen the Republican Party do anything good for the everyday working man they have suceeded very well in elimating the middle class .Why people keep electing them blows my mind They prey on gun nuts ,baptist and rasists. All they ever do is take away. It does not make any sence to me. (bewildered)
Of course you are.
Sure you have.
Your honesty is well documented, along with your powers of observation.
The blower on your mind is a supercharger.
And bewildering.
