Rick Perry Blogger Summit: Round Up

Video Round Up

A few videos I’ve seen posted from the Perry Blogger’s Summit held this weekend here in Austin (I’m in several of them).

From Dr. Melissa Clouthier (who was a panelist and a gun range participant):

Governor Perry teaching Melissa to shoot his Ruger LCP .380 w/ laser site:

And Melissa asking me what I thought of the event, which I thought was one of the three coolest things I’d ever done — OK, I might have been exaggerating…but it was damned cool):

AnnaZ (who was not at the gun range) posted two quick videos of Andrew Breitbart.

The first is of Andrew during his panel session with Roger Simon (CEO of Pajamas Media), where Breitbart’s challenge to us (the New Media) was: Destroy Those Who Would Destroy You:

And this is video Anna took while interviewing Breitbart after the event, where Breitbart says it’s time to start punching back at the bullies in the MSM:

Anna did several great interviews, which I’m sure she’ll post later when she’s done editing (I was her “camerman” for her interviews with Matt Lewis and Gov. Perry), plus substantially more video of Breitbart.

Reeve Hamilton and Abby Rapoport were on hand from the Texas Tribune, serving as the only members of the media to cover the event. I’ve been a skeptical critic of the Texas Tribune’s claims to being non-partisan, but Reeve and Abby wrote a good and fair piece on their coverage of the event (I’m quoted briefly in their piece, and am also in their video):

  1. What a great day of events, glad you were able to participate.
Still waiting for the image of the Gov. giving you a noogie.
Someone should tell the Gov. that there are gunsmiths that can do something about that trigger pull.
One thing I often notice about women shooters, who are relatively new to the activity, is they often lean back away from the weapon and it’s blast. I recommend gently letting them know not to be afraid, and to lean forward. It will increase their accuracy, reduce recoil and increase their confidence. In real life, if someone shoots back and hits you, you will be knocked back, but by leaning forward you can still continue the fight wounded.

  2. I do wish I’d gone – but I wish more that it hadn’t taken place in the middle of primary season, so I could have been comfortable giving up my Saturday! Sounds (and looks) like you had a lot of fun!

  3. Correct me if I am wrong, but it sounds as if Breitbart is in favor of furthering the trend of bi-partisan media.

I am of the opinion our current medias biggest fault is for taking any political side at all.
