My wife and I just spent about 30 minutes pulling plants from outside into the garage in anticipation of not only tonight’s expected 25-degree temps — but of the expected way-below-average temps we’re expecting on Thursday: highs near freezing and lows down into the teens.
While some of you living up in Wisconsin and Maine might not think that mid-30 degree highs and mid-20 degree lows are all that bad — it’s damned freeze-your-balls-off cold for here in Austin.
So now, as I sit here in my new man cave, wrapped in my wife’s UT snuggie that I got her for Christmas, I’m more thankful than ever for Al Gore’s “man-made global warming” crisis as I read these headlines from around the US and the world:

Good thing climate-change scientists were hiding that decline, otherwise we might never have noticed that it’s getting colder, and not hotter like those scientists and Al Gore keep telling us.
All of these headlines — just from today, mind you — make this spin in the London Guardian “Peru’s mountain people face fight for survival in a bitter winter” all the more ridiculous:
In a world growing ever hotter, Huancavelica is an anomaly. These communities, living at the edge of what is possible, face extinction because of increasingly cold conditions in their own microclimate, which may have been altered by the rapid melting of the glaciers.
First of all…after reading all those headlines of record cold and snow all around the world, I don’t think Peru is as much of an anomaly as this reporter would have you believe.
And secondly — WTF? Are you really trying to sell me on the fact that the cold in Peru is caused by the glaciers are melting?

Earlier and colder winters are now defined as global warming.
Like I said, harsh winters now prove global warming to this crowd. It is like arguing with the Mad Hatter.

Ive read that we will experiance a decade of really cold winters, this is surposed to be caused by the earth trying to cool it self down,then after this the earth will start to heat up again. This is what the scientists are predicting so only going with what they have been telling us.

By the time we figure out if global warming is real or not, man-made or not, you’ll be dead. If you want to get real data fom people that know about the Artic Ice caps. Ask the king crab fishermen like the ones on the Discovery channel.I happen to know 3 captains that tell me that that during the late 90′s ice was far north, but since 2000 the ice is flowing further south more every year. AL Gore probly cant see that cause there isnt an air strip big enough to handle his gas hungry jet.
Charles, think about this for 2 seconds. The reason the ice is flowing farther south is because bigger and bigger chunks are breaking off which take longer to melt. This is extremely well documented. Educate yourself. If hear-say is more dependable to you than science, go throw away your car, your cell phone, and the computer that you use to bash a man for having a private jet (that you’re probably jealous of).

This is the eleventh year in a row of cooler temps globally. Records are being set for the coldest temps in many regions, and yet the global warming/climate change alarmist still cling to their canard that is man made. If the cycles we have seen for the past five hundred thousand years continue, we are approaching eleven thousand years into a fifteen thousand year warming period, before the next one hundred fifty thousand year glacial period. One thing that has characterized a glacial period is Chicago under more than a mile of ice.
I’m expecting 24 for a low tomorrow[thats friday btw] *18* for saturday morning and I’m the cause of it. I swear to christ I’m going to start using these idiots as firewood. No..wait, I don’t have a fireplace. Pity. Oh well..it was a thought

“Global warming” has never been proved and is simlply being used by the believers to get governments to give up the big bucks. To believe in an educated guess at best is not good science its an act of faith. Real science can be tested and repeated. This is not the case with so called “climate change.” Man can not control the weather.
As a PhD with degrees from Harvard and U of Chicago who is a practicing, successful scientist, I can assure the rest of you that the idea that man-made CO2 is or ever has afected the global temperature is at best a cute idea with utterly no reliable empirical support. Read what the REAL climate scientists like Lindzen (SP?) at MIT and PLimer (Australia), and many, many others have to say. The fact that the weather was a bit hot for a few years was no more (or less) a trend than the fact that it is now turning cold (probably for a decade or so). The same doofusses who now claim that man is causing warming with CO2 tried to convince us in the mid 1970′s that an ice age was near, because …wait fo it… the weather had been a bit chilly for several years.
If I tried to get FDA approval for a treatment based on the kind of non-data that they trot out on CO2, the FDA would laugh me out of the building !
The underlying problem, of course, is that the academo-entertainment complex can only survive by getting ATTENTION ! Promotions, papers, grants, invitations, station ratings, all depend on being noticed and talked about (cited).
SO… cry “wolf” and make it about something that is far away in time, and you can get attention until everyone figures out it is another false alarm cry.
