This story really doesn’t need much additional commentary, does it?

Austin, TX – Austin police arrested 39-year-old Raunel Soto Friday after he allowed his 14-year-old niece to drive drunk Friday evening.

According to an affidavit, police saw the girl driving Soto’s SUV north on Airport Blvd. near 12th Street. The vehicle fishtailed and the girl almost hit a building.

Police pulled the vehicle over and found the teen in the driver’s seat, Soto in the passenger seat and two 16-year-olds in the back. All occupants smelled of alcohol and marijuana.

Officers tested the girl’s blood alcohol content, which registered at 0.14. That’s almost twice the legal limit.

Court papers show the 14-year-old was driving the SUV because Soto was “too drunk to drive.” Police arrested the girl for drinking and driving and Soto for child endangerment.

Soto’s bond was set at $3,500.

How drunk do you have to be to let your 14-year old drunk niece drive you home?

  1. Let a drunk 14yr old drive because you’re too stoned and drunk to drive yourself? Really? *facepalm*

  2. Ooops..forgot. This guy is entirely too stupid to let live, let alone roam free.

  3. Drunk is one thing, stoned another. Add stupid to either of those, makes for some really bad outcomes.
Often a fatal case of the dumb-ass…for someone.

  4. Since the truck reeked of marijuana I’m betting both…thats why I said drunk AND stoned.

    • Okay, but I was just sayin’…in general.
I had to deal with Ol Drunk-n-Stupid on patrol, too many times.

      • *shrug* sorry didn’t mean to come off like a total ass. Having said that…I used to be surrounded by drunk n stupid in my clubbing days. Hell I was occasionally one of them. as in walking out the door drunk…into the middle of a gunfight in the parking lot. Because I was hungry for some tacos from the taco truck just outside the door.
[taco trucks..some of the best eatin out there.]

        • No probs, just pixels.
I had my moments, hanging at some low ceiling road houses and dives, and usually went to party-hearty, so walked out blasted. I am proud to say that in every occasion I never got stupid, and always got home safe without being stopped or hurting anyone.
Stupid people have trouble doing that even if they are sober.

  5. To add to Uncle Raunel’s humiliation is the fact that a 14-year old girl can hold her drugs and booze better than her worthless uncle…

  6. oh and no, I tended to sleep it off in the parking lot in my truck.
