UPDATE: Well, this is certainly getting interesting. I think Debra Median just through away months of great campaigning in about 10 minutes today on the Glenn Beck show (via the Texas Tribune):
Beck asked Medina about rumors that she's a "9/11 truther," an individual who believes the government may have been involved in the Sept. 11 attacks.
"I think some very good questions have been raised in that regard," Medina responded. "There are some very good arguments, and I think the American people have not seen all of the evidence there. So I have not taken a position on that."
"I think the American people might take that as a yes," Beck laughed. After the call ended, he said, "Rick, I think you and I could French kiss right now."
Debra's people can (and
will have) tried to spin this…but there's really no taking her answer out of context. Beck's question was very straightforward. The easy and honest answer for sane people is an automatic "No." But Medina blurted out her true truther feelings before she could consider the political fall out.
With no more debates to get free air time, and with no more money in the bank to counter this bomb — the Medina-is-a-Truther narrative is now out of her hands and will steam roll her campaign back down to single digits before the week is out.
Just one of the reasons why I'm not supporting Debra Medina's bid to be the next Governor of Texas, via TXConservative:
At the beginning of the Medina for Governor movement, I was honestly looking at her and her ideas because people were talking about how real conservative she was. At first, it was just an interesting read…but as I looked behind the curtain, it was less interesting and much more scary.
Go read the entire detail of Medina's relationship with nutjob conspiracy theorists (of which she is one).
Many in the Medina Movement are disciples of this libertarian lunacy faction who came up through the Ron Paul Presidential campaign.
This is important because Debra Medina herself is a disciple of Ron Paul, having worked on his 2008 Campaign, and follows the same libertarian leaning political stances of her mentor. And it is the libertarian/Ron Paul organization that is at work helping Medina and not the conservative grassroots workers in the Republican Party.
