When was the last time you visited the online Thesaurus? Find anything interesting?
Well if you haven’t, here is a gem of a find, a veritable nugget of truth in a tiny corner on the interwebs.
Here is how the truth is presented, in an antonym.
Main Entry: tyrant
Part of Speech: noun

Thank you, Thesaurus!
You have always been my friend in enhancing my perspicuity. Now I find you are also my friend in presenting correctness and levity.
BRAVO!

I don’t want to be a buzz kill but an antonym is a word that holds an opposite meaning, i.e. Good is the antonym of Bad. This entry is saying that the exact opposite of a tyrant is a democrat.
Perhaps a dictionary would be helpful as well as a thesaurus.
Just a thought.
Antonym means OPPOSITE. A democracy is the opposite or tyrrany. Which is exactly what this is saying – you’ll notice that the “d” in democrat is small – which means that this is not about the Democratic Party.
You should have paid more attention in school.
I think your perspicuity needs additional enhancing.
Did someone really think this meant big D Democrat?
Democrats (big D) and Republicans are synonymous with tyrannical behavior.
From Carter and Reagan to Bush and Obama, there are idiots, all of them.
In addition to the online thesaurus, there are many online dictionaries available. Let’s check a few definitions, shall we?
Main Entry: an·to·nym
Pronunciation: \?an-t?-?nim\
Function: noun
Date: 1870
: a word of opposite meaning
So, it would seem that your premise is that a “democrat” would be the opposite of a tyrant. /Agree.
Wingnut attack EPIC FAIL.
Unless this is BIZARRO World or OPPOSITE Day.
Let’s play on shall we: the ANTONYM of ‘democrat’ is ‘Republican’, ergo a Republican is a tyrant.
Epic Win.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Boy, I bet you feel dumb. I’ll bet you’re all steamy right now. You don’t know the difference between a synonym and an antonym, that’s real embarrassing. You went out of your way to point it out, too. Boy, you must feel like a dunce. I’m sure glad i didn’t do that.
Awesome. Keep up the good work!

Sometimes the truth hurts
Results not surprising considering the source….
ah that made me smile……
Well, this has been fun.
So many thinking that some how the word “democrat” has anything in common with contemporary Democrats or the Democratic Party.
It takes few brain cells to discern that the Democrats are truly the antithesis of a “democrat” in the classical sense. Today’s Democrats belong in the tyrant synonym category.
I suspected some would react this way, but not so many.
I thank you for the word play levity.
It takes EVEN FEWER brain cells to discern that today’s Republicans are part of the tyrannical synonym category as well.
Dude, just admit that you mixed up antonym and synonym. You’re just embarrassing yourself.
Dude, look at my nic and read the article again.
Honestly, do you actually believe I don’t know the definition of an antonym?
Do you know the difference between the meaning of the word democrat, as in Thomas Jefferson, and the actual nature of our contemporary Democrats?
If you are a liberal, I already know the answer, and also that you have no sense of humor.
“Honestly, do you actually believe I don’t know the definition of an antonym?”
Given all the evidence at hand, yes. Nice try at walking it back, though. Not as entertaining as the original beclowning, but still pretty amusing.
Coming from you, the one who always gets it wrong, I feel affirmed.
Coming from you, the one who is incapable of backing up his rants without piles of logical fallacies and misstatements of facts, I still feel amused. Kind of like going to a zoo and watching the apes tumble around.
BLAAAH-HAAAH-HA-HA!
Like I said, this has been more fun than I could have imagined.
Libturds are so easy to ambush.
I do believe that you didn’t realize what an antonym is. I do have a sense of humor, I just don’t get off on impotent rage. Enjoy sitting on the pot and never shitting, revolutionary.
BTW, not sure if you’ve heard but Jefferson has been crossed off the list of acceptable Founding Fathers for Texans.
Good for you, glad to know you believe in something.
Impotent rage, eh? Hardly, I’m still laughing.
As for TJ being unacceptable as a Founding Father by Texans, no I hadn’t heard that.
NO2 -
The same group of nutjubs in Texas that complained that the President was “indoctrinating” kids by telling them to study hard and pay attention in school re-wrote the history books and REMOVED any mention of Thomas Jefferson.
Ah, to be OK with being a hypocrite. I wonder what kind of life that is?
Robbie, you are so quick to reply when anyone has a moderate or liberal thought. Yet, no response here. Look, we all screw-up, just admit it. Or are you going to not admit the screw-up like others typical political extreemists. (This applies to both the left and the right)
Chris, Robbie didn’t write this, I did.
I can’t believe the only one who caught on was Steven(anonymous).
Look at the synonyms and the antonym again, and don’t relate “democrat” with “Democrats.”
Jeebus!
That’s because liberals are mentally retarded, to wit the election of fuckhead.
Like I said, this has been more fun than I could have imagined.
I was still laughing my ass off at the irony of associating Democrats with the word democrat, I really never expected such a reaction.
It’s like the most recent episode of South Park, The Tales of Scrotie McBoogerBalls. People found different meanings based on their political leaning.
… not like someone who uses “to wit” in a totally ungrammatical way. Right Sam?
If y’all still aren’t getting it, lets just make a little change that is more in line with the action and behavior of “Democrats.”
That is what I was seeing and found so effing funny.
Oh, I get it. By arbitrarily redefining the word “Democrat” as “tyrant,” and pretending that the rest of the world defines “Democrat” as “tyrant,” you show that “Democrat” actually means the opposite of “democrat.”
Bravo, sir. Well played. Golf claps, etc.
You know, I used to worry that people like you might someday lead this country to ruin, but seeing your mental acuity on display here, it’s obvious that my fears were misplaced. You people are too stupid to live.
An example can be found here, between one who is a member of the Democrat Party and does not subscribe to democratic principles.
My son sent this to me… I think he saw it on Facebook:
> Internet User 1: wtf is a palindrome.
> Internet User 2: no it’s not lol.
LOL!
Thanks, Dymphna.
I weep for my country.
If this halfwit BS doesn’t become a meme, I’ll be really disappointed. NO2LIBERALS is possibly the biggest retard on the face of the earth, and nobody reading this will believe his lies.
Don’t you just love word play?
Wow. I step away for a few moments, and a post that I would have guessed garnered no more than 2-3 comments become a cause for Liberals to trip all over their intellectual diminutives.
Hell, the intellectual light weights couldn’t even figure out who wrote the damned post (wasn’t me, since most of you idiots obviously need things spelled out a little more clearly).
Good times. Thanks for posting this, N2L.
Same here, Robbie.
I thought a few of the regulars would get a chuckle like me, and maybe one or two libturds would take umbrage.
I sent a link to this to several of my friends and family, and they all got it right off. A friend of mine didn’t see it until this morning and had to call me laughing her butt off, after reading the comments.
Like I said, this has really been a lot of fun. I’ve made other ironic posts, but always made it clear what the irony was. I figured by now most that come here would know me by now, and didn’t think a longer explanation was needed, and would even be insulting to those who actually think and have a sense of humor. The presence of liberal scorn has been fascinating to watch, and my ribs are sore from laughing.
Robbie, one little thing that everyone who got it noticed, was not only was “democrat” in lower case letters, but it was also made bold. It wasn’t done for no reason.
ROFLMAO!
Yup. That ain’t not a good way to phrase it too. You writes real good.
I look at this as a fascinating experiment NO2. Whether it was meant to be that way or not, how interesting. Brava! *tips hat*
LA Guy, the reaction wasn’t anticipated. I thought the regulars would get a chuckle, and maybe a few outraged libturds would protest the characterization.
I wasn’t writing my thought down for any reason other than I had a good laugh.
That the libturds decided to ambush themselves with their inability to view the Democratic Party in anyway other than in self-adoring terms, was a bonus.
Damn it! Did it again. That was me.
So is the big foot-stompin’ hilarity highlighting the liberal bias of the thesaurus? I tried, I really tried to understand how else that excerpt could possibly be humorous in any way that didn’t end with the OP just plain not understanding what the word “antonym” means, and that’s the best I can come up with.
Your defense has been completely incoherent, chiefly revolving around calling people idiots as opposed to explaining what was so self-evidently great about that excerpt. I applaud you for trying to make a a silk purse out of a bowl of lemons in the comment section, but–I tell you this as a friend–no one’s buying it.
Here’s what would have worked better, rather than trying to score some cheap political points on your perceived “enemy”: While not as topical, it certainly makes a lot more sense to highlight the old DDR (aka the German Democratic Republic, you’d remember it from old James Bond movies as “East Germany”) as a…well, if not tyrannical, a certainly authoritarian (maybe I’m cutting it too fine here, a synonym of “authoritarian” is “tyrannical”, but I wouldn’t look at the antonyms if I were you) example that actually used the word “democratic” in a way that may have proven your point, since they were not at all big- or little-D democratic by any stretch.
But I guess that would mess up the narrative of trying to show whatever it was you were trying to do…which remains unclear (other than somehow mocking liberals, as your desperately clever nick clearly shows), unless it was really an immense Trojan Horse come-on to show us all your fabulous taste in clip art. Now, if the goal of your thesaurus trolling was to get a large number of people who would never read this blog to come here and make fun of you, I’m happy to inform you that you’ve succeeded beyond your wildest dreams. So you’ve got that going for you, which is nice.
Ah, but then you have the problem of “The People’s Republic of China.” China is run by Republicans??? OH NOES!!!
And don’t forget the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea. Does that mean that Jim Jeffords is North Korean?
Maybe fancy booklearnin’ ain’t quite the friend you imagine it to be, No2.
Interesting that all these “stupid liberals” questioning the meaning of the big d versus little d never post on here.
Either the word is out, or they arent real posts.
So, no2, you do know what the word “antonym” means. Good for you!
But you really do need some work with the word “tyrant.” Maybe you could find a holocaust survivor to help you with that — or, perhaps more to your liking, an Iraqi or a Cuban.
Well libturd, I actually know Iraqis and Cubans. The Iraqis hung theirs, and the Cuban tyrant just praised the passage of ØbummerCare. That isn’t ironic, it is telling.
Right again! Obama is exactly like Saddam Hussein!
What else do you have for us?
And don’t just sit there, boy! Tie that noose, and head for Washington!
I hate it when revolutionaries are all talk and no action.
You wear your nic well, ØbamaBot.
Yes it does.
Q: Then, why wasn’t the post “filed” under “Ain’t It The Irony” instead of “Ain’t It The Truth“?
A: Ex post facto CYA.
Quid quid latine dictum sit, altum videtur.
NO2, you’re a MORAN!
moran: noun. Mouth breathing peasant.
Syn: Sarah Palin, Tea bagger.
Ant: Democrat.
Thanks for playing.
I hope no one here is stupid enough to think conservatives haven’t been tyrannical over the last 100 years.
Now THAT would be funny to watch someone try and defend.
At first, I thought the OP was accusing the thesaurus of having a liberal bias (“correctness” meaning “political correctness”).
Maybe the OP can backtrack and say that’s what he/she meant… because that is the only way the joke could possibly work.
