Unfortunately, McFarland, 30, plead guilty and received a life sentence for her part in the Capital Murder of Lopes. Unfortunate, because she should have received death for her part in the crimes.

Murder in Indiana
Over the course of three days in September of 2000, Maxwell and McFarland abducted Robby Bott, burglarized his Indiana home, and then shot him in the face and strangled him until he was dead. They then put him in the trunk of his own car and set it on fire.
Maxwell and McFarland then fled to California. After their arrest in California, Maxwell confessed to murdering Bott. Twice.

If there were no writs filed two days ago, there will be none filed. Maxwell even said in his most recent interview that it is over.
Is there anything to be found on that site about Peter Cantu’s last appeal? I was not able to get any returns on my search for him (though I did get some hits of some other cases with that last name). I have been following the “Jennifer and Elizabeth” case for the past year and half and am frustrated that there has not been any news. It has been almost 17 years since the girls were murdered and I don’t understand the delay in administering justice. Cantu is most certainly guilty.
One, PACER is your friend.
Two, Cantu is guilty. He was convicted and he had his state appeal. The rest is optional in the eyes of the state.
Oh, there’s no denying that he is guilty. I just don’t understand what has taken 17 years . . . I think it is a travesty of justice to put the girls’ families through such a long, ongoing ordeal and can only imagine the stress they have been under waiting for the final punishment.

I do not have a background in law, so I didn’t know about this legal resource (though at one point in my life I had seriously considered pursuing a career as a criminal prosecutor). I am a student on a very strict budget, but will certainly look into registering at the site, if the dues are not too terribly expensive.
You have to rack up $10 before they start billing you. They never bill you for more than 30 pages a document or $2.40. Some let you take a free look then you can save it. You look at or download the docket and it will tell you want’s going on and if there are documents you can down load. Once you have the case numbers and name of the document, you can see if anyone posted it online for free. It may appear that nothing is going on but you’ll see that the dockets show a lot of activity.
Google Scholar is also a good source. Run the name by state and federal.

But the stories about the affair between the judge and the prosecutor is already convincing a lot of undecideds that Hood may not be guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. If there is one case which could push a majority of Texans into the anti-DP camp its this one. And that is why, although I am pro-DP, I would do this case over to erase any reasonable doubt.

The entire trial is memorialized by the court reporter. On appeal, every decision, every ruling is reviewed for legal error by the defense and the courts. Hood’s case has been reviewed ad nauseum and they have found no bias and no evidence of a conflict of interest. I’m sick of hearing of this non-existent conflict of interest. Tell me, where is the actual prejudice? You can’t. There was none.
