2010:
- The year that Mark McGwyer announced he used steroids.
- Ricky Martin announced he’s gay.
- Sen. Kay Baily Hutchison (RINO-TX) announces she lied about resigning from the Senate.
Let’s just call 2010 “The year where stuff that everybody already knew is considered news.”
Jason Embry, the Liberal Government and Politics blogger for the Austin American-Statesman, is reporting the “big announcement” that Kay Baily Hutchison will serve out the rest of her term as the senior Senator from Texas.
U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison has called a press conference for 10 a.m. Wednesday in San Antonio and is expected to announce whether she will stay in the Senate for the rest of her term.
Sen. John Cornyn, her fellow Texas Republican, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell will join her for the announcement. Cornyn confirmed on Twitter that he would be on hand but did not elaborate.
Of course Sen. Cornyn is there…and of course he’s supporting his fellow Beltway Buddy. Sen. Cornyn is a sellout who is firmly and fully entrenched in the D.C. Power Belt. He has no plans on ever relinquishing his own power (seeking only ways to grow it), and thus supports his other cronnie’s decisions to do the same.
I’ve said over and over that KBH has lied every step of the way about her plans to leave the Senate. KBH didn’t get the message during the Gubernatorial primary that Texans aren’t all that happy with her anymore.
Here’s what I expect to hear from KBH at her presser today:
She’ll claim that shes going to complete the rest of her term at the urging of friends, colleagues, and advisers (probably true). Her experience and seniority are “too valuable” to the GOP caucus and the citizens of Texas (bullshit). She’ll also probably try to minimize everyone calling her a liar by saying she won’t seek re-election after her term expires in 2012.
Which I believe is also a lie. As 2012 gets closer, she’ll start walking back that lie, too. In which case, I will go on a full time balls-out crusade to make sure she is defeated in a primary.
Kay Baily Hutchison is part of the problem in Washington D.C. — not part of the solution. It’s time for KBH to go. And Cornyn? We’re coming after you, too, for your continued support of RINOS (Crist, Specter, KBH) because it seems to be the path of least resistance for you.
__________
The Big Losers:
- The people of Texas
- Railroad Commissioner Michael Williams, who should be sitting in the US Senate now.
- Anybody who favors smaller government and less federal pork barrel spending
- Anybody who appreciates honesty and integrity

Agreed, Cornyn’s election was a gigantic mistake, too. Cornyn has got to GO! Oh, and one spelling correction. It’s Kay Beltway Hutchinson, not … well, you know. Important to get that right for Kay’s future as D.C. Lobbyist for shamnesty, higher taxes, more Big Gummit, etc.
.
I’m not surprised. Old Kay telegraphed this one shortly after she entered the race.
Of course, it’s not merely Cornyn who’s supporting KBH, but every last Republican from Texas in the House of Representatives, as well. I don’t trust or support any of them, but guarantee we’ll get another full complement of RINOs come November. People are just too STUPID and complacent. Call me a quitter if you’d like; I prefer realist. I despise them all.
Well…she didnt get where she is by luck. I’d say she has alot of political clout which is why she is so embraced by the right (and some on the left). Politics is dirty buisness and I would wager that the decision to leave is really up to her, regardless of public opinion. I think the Gov race was really just a feeler gauge and really focused Texans on the benefits of Perry and really brough to light some of the faults in KBH. It might have been a pre-planned loss in a strange Machiavellian way. If she seeks re-election, most people will have forgotten all about her big spending record. And since the Dems wont have a leg to stand on, she will most likely serve another term. It would be nice to see some fresh ideas and some new “conservative” faces.
