Nancy Pelosi is leading the Democrats over a cliff as she attempts to pass the health care reform bill without having members vote on it. A law that nobody wants, that nobody has read, is poised to be passed without even a vote. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) nails it when he says that Pelosi has House Dems “liquored up on sake” ready for a “suicide run.”

And the reason that Nancy won’t call for a vote is because she doesn’t have the votes and it would fail.

And the reason that the bill would be voted down is that 1) the people of the United States overwhelmingly oppose it, and 2) the Congressmen know they will lose their jobs if they pass this against their constituents wishes.

The Death of Democracy

If Nancy Pelosi succeeds in pushing this un-Constitutional piece of crap through without a vote, then AJ Strata is right: The Week Democracy Died In America:

We face the end of our democracy this week, as the lazy and lying politicians and their enablers inside the Political Industrial Complex (PIC: consultants, lobbyists, staffers, well connect special interests, compliant news media) refuse to let the people chose their path.

If this passes without a vote, I agree with Dan Reihl: I will not bend to this non-law:

It’s unclear whether or not Obama and his Democrats want to provoke a Constitutional crisis that could make Watergate look more like a misdemeanor, than a high crime. Personally, I can’t see myself bending to what would be, in effect, a non-law. The word to attempt a takeover of such a significant portion of the economy and American life through un-Constitutional means is tyranny, not law.

If Nancy passes this and Obama signs it, all without a vote, they will have circumvented the consent of the governed. I hope that our great state of Texas will continue to fight against the tyranny of the Federal government and stand up for the 10th Amendment and deem (hey, if Congress can do it, why can’t we?) Obamacare to be unconstitutional and therefore refuse to comply or participate.

I will join a massive “non-compliance” campaign. Every conservative/libertarian/traditional value organization and blog must join the blow-back campaign. Refuse to sign up, harass the perpetrators at every public event, encourage state legislatures to opt out, keep the heat on continuously until it is repealed.

Failing that, it will be time to revisit the Declaration of Independence, which offers a clear remedy:

That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security

    • All my gear stays ready, and there is no rust or patina on my firearms or blades.
      My mags stay clean and lubed, but I only load them past halfway when TSHTF, as I don’t want to compress the springs.

    I’ve been thinking, too how to subvert it if they try to ram it down our throats. Weren’t the state AGs going to challenge it? Or, have they been all bought off?

  3. I first heard about the “Slaughter Solution” last week and posted a link on another thread.
    This is completely unconstitutional, and if they try this(personally, I think it is a bluff), Øbummer better not sign the law, as it will be shot down by the Supremes faster than Piglosi can blink.
    There is a nice piece at Hot Air about this a few days ago, which includes comments from Mark Levin:

    Especially after the way Obama went after them during his State of the Union Address. Not only will they smack down this law based on solid law, but they’ll do so with a smile on their faces (well, at least 5 of them will).

Funny, we didn’t see this level of outrage when Republicans used this parliamentary maneuver over 35 times during the last Congressional session they ran, in 2005-2006, as mentioned below in the journal of that noted left-wing institution, the American Enterprise Institute.       There is a big difference in a minor bill dealing with tax credits to the tune of $82billion, and a private sector grab by the government of 17%. The health care industry represents about $2.5trillion each year.
      What the jackasses are trying to do is a brazen act of tyranny.

      • Whether or not a parliamentary maneuver is unprecedented or illegal has nothing to do with the price tag. And yes, you are correct that Democrats complained about it when the shoe was on the other foot. (Norman Ornstein points that out in the article I linked to.) They weren’t claiming it was the end of democracy, however, or indulging in thinly-veiled fantasies about taking up arms against their fellow Americans. And I’m sure you don’t have any interest in the links I provide. No one is as blind as he who will not see.

          Cute lines Robbie, but Congresspeople are your fellow Americans. So to be clear, are you going on the record as stating that that you want to commit acts of violence against members of Congress whose policies you oppose, or would support those who do?     Distinction without a difference. Whether a law is constitutional or not has nothing to do with its price tag. All you are doing is saying “I don’t like it, therefore it’s unconstitutional”. That’s not a winning argument in any court.

          Liberals are pathological in their desire to destroy this country’s foundation. They are convinced of their superiority, know-it-alls, even though all the ideas they believe are best have proven miserable failures and ruinous of society every time they have been tried.
          Paulbots, while claiming to be constitutional originalists, are also know-it-alls, and view anyone that doesn’t embrace their radical approach to be tyrants. They would have us end the War On Drugs, and anyother wars, and require all our troops be brought home, wherever they are based in the world. They want Maginot America, where our power isn’t projected outward, and our vital national interests and allies abroad would be vulnerable.

What is happening right now in the push for “health legislation’ is not by accident, or because they don’t know what the consequences are. It is by design, and has been a generational effort by the Marxist in this country.

    A spokesman for Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli II (R) said this afternoon that Virginia will file suit against the federal government if the Democratic health care reform bill is approved by the U.S. Congress.

    UPDATE: We’ve received a copy of Cuccinelli’s letter to Pelosi. In it, he writes: “Should you employ the deem and pass tactic, you expose any act which may pass to yet another constitutional challenge.”

    And they still don’t have the votes or a favorable CBO report.
