Barbara Geerdes is Indoctrinating our Children
And people wonder I why I have almost complete disdain for the Liberal world of academia and those who push it’s poisonous agenda. Our nation’s schools have been ruined by Liberals, their agenda, and — perhaps most of all — the unions that empower them.
My friend Kathleen McKinney (I’ve shot guns with the woman — she’s my kind of people) has posted this piece of indoctrination/propaganda that was handed out by Roosevelt High School (NEISD — Texas) teacher Barbara Geerdes to her high school AP Government class:
Ms. Geerdes distributed this without parental consent, and did not allow her students to take the paper home. She didn’t allow them to take it home because she knew how the gun- and Bible-clinging parents in her district would feel about it. Regardless, this woman has as little reason to be teaching in a classroom as Jeremiah Wright has preaching the Word of God from a pulpit.
From TexasGOPVote.com:
A student in Barbara Geerdes’ AP Government class grew concerned over the teacher’s repeated politicization of the classroom and managed to get one of the documents out and brought it home, where he could show it to his parents.
…………………..
The handout starts off by saying, “Philosophical differences… separate liberals and conservatives. The greatest areas of disagreement concern human nature, reliance on tradition, and individual freedom.” The handout continues on, calling conservatives pessimists who think people are “tainted by original sin” and liberals optimists who think people are “basically good.” It says that liberals allow people a great amount of liberty, while conservatives feel people must be controlled, restrained, and guided for their own best interests. (What?!) Throughout the handout, “liberal” is likened with the word “constitutional” while “conservative” is likened with the word “authoritarian.” At the end of the discussion, there is a chart for students to fill in, reiterating the statements made about liberals and conservatives. The statements are completely fallacious and clearly intended to deceive the students. What student would want to admit to being conservative after reading this? The handout had no author listed or any sources. Barbara Geerdes could very well have written the entire discussion herself. Furthermore, she knew that what she was doing was wrong- why else would she not allow the papers to be taken home?
Ms. Geerdes should be fired, immediately and without compensation. Sadly, she’s most likely unsuited and incapable of doing anything other than teach (those who can, and those who can’t…).
My wife and I don’t have children yet — but this only confirms my belief that when we do, there is no way in hell that I’m letting a public school run by Liberal academia and unionists educate our children.

This is disgusting. It’s exactly whats wrong in our country today. The press is so liberal they can’t report the news and the teachers are right behind them. If this had happened in my school to my kids I would be up there raising hell. Oh yes, there is a reason she didn’t let them take the doc home.If she were afraid to release it home there must be something wrong with it and she knew it. Teachers should teach what the parents want taught, they work for the parents of the kids. This teacher needs to get out of Texas.
Unfortunately, the same idiots who were up in arms over our President “indoctrinating” school kids by speaking to them and telling them to work hard recently RE-WROTE the history books in Texas.
And to all those dim enough to think this is some sort of liberal rant – one of the most glaring removals was that of Thomas Jefferson
Never liked Jefferson. He talked the talk but didn’t walk the walk.
I agree to an extent.
He did know how to deal with the muslims, though.
It is unfortunate even our kids are now subject to irrational adult politricks.
It’s true, one of my friends teachers gave him a paper about how Cameron Todd Willingham is innocent (which he’s not), and more papers about the death penalty being bad (which it isnt)
I go to public school
My son came home from high school a few weeks ago telling me how he learned in his history class, how the Republicans started the KKK and they they are the racists.
I almost fell out of my chair! Needless to say, we had a couple of hours of our own little re-education camp and a conference set up with an instructor!
That’s fail, written all over.
What a magnificent attempt to twist everythng around. I notice that she never talks about the government control of evey facet of human liberty through legal manipulation and ragulation. If anyone is authoritarion it’s Liberals, If anyone is violent and anti-human , it’s Liberals–all you have to do is look at the health care bill. Rationing, overloading the system—-whole lives system–just who is anti human, and anit-liberty?
If this weren’t so serious it would be comical. Everyone needs to get their facts straight before going off on someone. I teach in this district and the whole point of her lesson was to teach the very thing everyone is up in arms about – political bias. The handout wasn’t being presented as facts about liberals and conservatives but rather as an example of bias. Let’s move on to something really important.
This was given to students in a lesson on media bias. It was given as an example. Context is everything. Needless to say lesson learned! I happen to know the details of this particular artlcle but it makes me wonder about other stories. I am also very concerned about what our kids are being taught and have attended tea parties myself. This particular instance is not being protested correctly but I know this is happening. Bottom line turn off the tv and talk to your kids. You teach morals and beliefs and no one should be able to derail your kids if you keep conversation open. As to the comment those who can…. Seriously very few can take on what teachers do, or understand. There is no response to that kind of disregard for those who spend their days HELPING to shape and teach our future. Notice the word helping. It is the parents job first!
Likely story. Why was the liberal the good guy. Whenever that is the theme and a teacher uses a lame excuse like yours, it is pretty clear you are aiming to indoctrinate. That’s not what you have been hired to do.
