All you need to read about the current immigration debate and the folly of (big L) Libertarians can be learned from reading the wise and learned words of Daphne at Jaded Heaven in a post perfectly titled, No, Se Puede:
Take illegal aliens and immigration. Hardcore Libertarians are busy beating the band into a scathing heat against the Arizona legislation to check identification, arrest illegals and ship them out of the country. They consistently harp on open borders and a free flow of people, using dismissive terms such as racist and xenophobic to drive their point home with a flourish of guilt.
I think they’re showing an insane level of discognizance.
The illegal Mexicans and Central Americans they would see welcomed to the American table would never adopt their limited government mindset. In fact, they would overwhelmingly reject the Libertarian creed, choosing expansive government and all of its crippling entitlements with decisive brio in the voting booths.
Bush was a moron on this topic and so are the Libertarians.

sigh..retards. if the people protesting bothered to research and actually talk to LEGAL immigrants they’d find that the LEGAL immigrants are JUST as pissed as us natural born citizens.
I’m not sure how that proves that libertarians are wrong on immigration.
Whether or not immigrants choose libertarianism has no bearing at all on whether immigration policy is flawed. Libertarians choose policy based on principles, not based on popularity.
She says libertarians are leaning on the xenophobic angle, but i have to say, her blanket assumption as to what philosophy immigrants would vote for kind of underscores their point.
