Congress’ goal: Control and regulate every aspect of food production and consumption in America.
Do we really want and need Congress to get involved in every single aspect of monitoring, controlling, and regulating our lives (that’s a rhetorical question…or should be)?
CNS News: A bill introduced this month in Congress would put the federal and state governments in the business of tracking how fat, or skinny, American children are.
States receiving federal grants provided for in the bill would be required to annually track the Body Mass Index of all children ages 2 through 18. The grant-receiving states would be required to mandate that all health care providers in the state determine the Body Mass Index of all their patients in the 2-to-18 age bracket and then report that information to the state government. The state government, in turn, would be required to report the information to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for analysis.
In other words, a bunch of fat, out-of-shape, pasty old fat cats who can’t press the Vote for More Spending button without gasping for air and needing oxygen want to tell you how and what to feed your kids…
Do you really want Barny Frank to tell you that your kids are too fat?
And before any of you mention that I’m a bit on the heavy side myself, I’ll note:
1) So what? I’m not trying to force you or anybody else to be something I am or am not.
2) My BMI is not that high…and I’ll challenge any body in Congress to spend a week with me at my CrossFit gym, or to jump on their bike and do the MS 150 bike ride with me next year. In other words, I might be fat, but I’m fit, too.
