In about 15 minutes from now, Kevin Scott Varga will be put to death by the State of Texas for the 1998 for beating to deathUS Army Major David Lawrence Logie in Greenville, Texas.
Varga was one of four people who beat David Logie to death while robbing him. Also convicted were Billy John Galloway, Deannee Anne Bayless, and Venus Joy Anderson. They punched and kicked Logie, and then beat him with hammers and tree limbs.
Because sometimes justice is poetic, one of Varga’s thugs-in-crime, Billy John Galloway, is sentenced to die tomorrow for the exact same crime.
Good riddance to bad garbage, I say.
They were arrested during a routine traffic stop in San Antonio in the victim’s rented vehicle.
Varga, a former construction worker, was originally from Michigan and had a 6th grade education. Prior to the capital murder conviction, Varga spent 13 years in a South Dakota prison for two separate sentences of burglary and grand theft.
Prior to this sentence Galloway also spent time in the South Dakota Department of Corrections for grand theft, parole violations and attempted robbery. He was paroled and released from jail early in 1998 just three months before the Hunt County murder. He was from New York and also had only a 6th grade education.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas — The witness list for the 6 p.m. execution of Kevin Varga, formerly of South Dakota, includes Jack Logie, the father of murder victim David Logie.
Five other friends of the Logie family are listed on the witness list. Jack Logie’s wife, daughter-in-law and two nieces are also in Huntsville for the execution, but no on the witness list.
Varga’s personal witness list includes his mother, Beth. Two friends also are on the list, but one, a death-penalty activist from Italy, did not arrive for the execution.
Varga’s last meal request was:

I’m human. I can feel sorry for some people who are condemned to death. But, Varga isn’t one of them. And my feeling sorry for anyone doesn’t mean I want them to escape their sentence.
Of the two, Varga was the bigger asshole. According to the warden of the ND prison, the only thing wrong with Galloway was that he met and was negatively influenced by Varga. Obviously, an exaggeration.
But, another prison official testified that it was Varga who “preyed on weaker inmates and was a constant threat to society.”
I’ll admit that Varga’s and his family’s incessant whining got on my nerves.
Anyway, all I have to do is remember the victim begging for his life and then it’s fuck them both.

It’s set for conference this Thursday. Decisions are usually issued the following Monday unless they relist it again. Another case on the same day has been relisted 7 times. Granted, Skinner has some complicated legal issues but they have nothing to do with his false claim of innocence.

I have a question about DP and LWOP
in Texas.
Why does one person get the DP and the other Lwop,when the crimes(murder) are the same.
It’s the same in all states with minor variations. One is not sentenced to death based on the crime alone. After the jury determines guilt, there is a penalty trial. The jury must find the defendant a continuing threat to society and then determine if the mitigating circumstances out weigh the aggravating one. If they do, it’s lwop. If not, it’s death.

1. It is not morally wrong. It is morally wrong, however, to not execute murderers in that you are choosing to sacrifice innocent people for your thug boyfriends.
2. It is not cost effective. Having the DP on the books means more cases settle. Remove it and there will be even more trials and appeals. Plus, without the DP, the abolish movement will then set their sights on LWOP and life. Some states already treat those cases like capital cases. Also, the cost of DP cases is because of the excessive appellate process. You thug lovers demand that we jump though ridiculous and unnecessary hoops that increase the cost. Then you turn around and whine about the cost. However, appeals are going to become more limited in the future. Frankly, the cost is well worth it if it saves innocent lives. You want to save the lives of thugs; we want to prevent the murder of innocent victims.

It’s almost impossible to find info on victims. As the execution nears, the media will on occasion break out their archives. I know a Logi family member complained about the pain and delays on PTO and had all but 1 of her posts deleted. They always try to justify it b/c it is meant to be a support site for inmates and their family.
But when did support encompass lying about their guilt. The family member posted that there was blood all over Varga’s shoes and that he showed no remorse at the time of the crime or during the trial.
And for all those thug lovers who claim they are supporting the inmate, how does aiding him in his denial help him? I don’t think you get to lie your ass off for a decade and then on the gurney say, yeah I’m sorry no matter how sincere they claim to be. If the thug lovers really cared they would help the inmate come to terms with their crimes well in advance.

All I can say to you is this, I was a juror, one of the 12 that convicted him. We didn’t just oh kill him and be done with it. As for me, I know and knew he was guilty, didn’t make the decision easy. It has haunted me for almost 10 years. What is given to us before verdict and before sentencing is a for with 3 questions or guides. Did the accused meet these? On all counts each time he did. I am a christian. Bible says to obey the laws of the land. I did he didn’t. He was sentenced fairly. Let me add I sat through his trial for 3 weeks…the images we saw are burned in my mind. I saw the clothes he wore, the brutality placed on both murdered men..there is no other outcome. Those 2 men had no choice. They were not asked if they wanted to do and how. Kevin an Billy denied them any rights. In Kevins last words he finally admitted his role and accepted his punishment. You need to do the same. I am not heartless, believe me. I have tried to keep up with the case for 10 yrs. I check from time to time on the updates. I decided to do this Mother’s day. Could have blown me away. I haven’t slept all week. When it was confirmed yesterday that he had been executed. I cried. It is a tragedy for all inolved yes brought on by the choices they made. He had to pay for his choice. A life for a life. He will never face his crimes for the Kansas murder. Is that right? He will have to answer just not to us.

No one can fully comprehend the horrendous crime you had to judge. No one can know how viewing all the evidence in this crime will haunt you and the other jurors forever.
What you had to be put through is no small thing, but this all could have been prevented had the murderers not committed their heinous crime.
Reaching the verdict of capital punishment is a high bar to achieve, which it should be.
I just want you to know that some of us understand and hope you can live in peace with the decision reached. Any reasonable person that had to view the evidence, as you did, would have reached the same verdict.

I know what the Bible says..but what I believe is when it is my time to stand before God it will be up to him to judge me, not Stefania or others who say that if I was Christian how could I. My response is I obeyed the laws of this land to the best of my ability. I do have a conscience. So I believe I will carry this burden for the rest of my life.

I have a different perspective than yours, as I was in law enforcement for a number of years, before returning to college/graduate school. I’ve looked into the eyes of evil and had to witness the horrible messes they have made. As bad as it is to view crime scene photos, it is amplified when you get to smell them too.

Death Watch Journal for Kevin Varga – FINAL ENTRY
Yes my friends this will be the last time I write for this site unless I am granted a reprieve of some kind….
I want you all to know that it is NOT justice that will happen on May 12th it is vengeance. Vengeance is done with malice. The state of Texas is trying to intimidate the next person who thinks about taking a life. I am not in favor of murder. I think that murder is wrong and should be punished, never think that I believe that I should not be punished. I have never said that, not will I….
[You only thought your crime of murdering two people was worth only 2 years. Some punishment. He goes on to rail against lwop.]
Should we then never allow someone to try and reform themselves within society? Should we just lock them up forever and just watch them slowly be consumed by hatred and anger?

The victims family will be there to watch me does, do they truly believe that it will bring them closure? [Yes.] Maybe on that second day as they also get to sit and watch Billy Galloway die too, will they finally be able to rest easy knowing that killers no longer lurk within the dark confines of their minds? I thank you for for keeping me safe so to speak. Honestly I am not sure what my perspective. I can not even imagine nor do I want to, an actual crime scene. I am one of those that is very sensitive to oder any way and the stronger it is the more like ly I am to vomit. lol. Well, this is what sent me to the dark side: I got tired of the lies spread by those who oppose capital punishment. I can respect someone who opposes CP on moral or religious grounds but those are personal and should not be forced onto others.
However, when those who oppose CP lie, misrepresent, omit the evidence and/or legal procedures, then it becomes a cause to me.
There is a great deal of arrogance in people who claim someone is innocent when they know none of the evidence and they we’re not instructed on the law. Almost all of them base their opinion on some article they read. I would never claim someone guilty based on what they use to claim someone is innocent.
Nancy: Did you read Varga’s journal? He exhibited little to no insight into his behavior.
In that profession, you have to develop coping skills and also talk to others about what you have experienced. Those who bottle up put themselves at risk.
I’ll never forget the young patrolman who was assigned to work with. We responded to a call and found a woman dead in a bathroom. She had fallen, hit her head on the ceramic tile and died. It was not a pretty sight, and my young partner froze up. I had to push him outside and told him to wait in the yard for the other responders.
Later, after our shift, we always got together for drinks/food and to process what had happened on our shift. As I was plowing into a gorgeous slab of Lasagna with dripping garlic toast, he looked ill. I asked why he was so pale?
He angrily asked how I could shovel that food down after what we had just seen.
The table got quiet and all eyes on were on him. I calmly explained to him, “God Bless that poor ol’girl, she’s dead, but I’m okay.” The sight of realization on his face was dramatic.
He got it!
He became a damn good cop.
The same applies to you. You aren’t the murderers or the victims, God Bless’em all.

As for the gore I’ve had to wade through, I still remember it all and who I was then. It doesn’t trouble me…I’m okay.
Rather than feel haunted, I still feel the anger of so much senseless harm some can cause and how little there is I can do to stop it. I do take comfort in seeing justice served, I just wish I could do more to prevent crime in the first place.

I think they just show different executions and the sad banter the thugs write as they are waiting for their demise..this particular one..they just wanted to show what they consider “brutality”..but I think the filth got what he deserved…
