You wouldn’t know it from the fawning and biased reporting from the main stream media over the weekend, but the majority of Americans oppose illegal immigration and support Arizona’s right to protect its citizens from the invasion from Mexico:

What? Oh, it was conducted by the New York Times and CBS News? Oh…never mind…
The public broadly agrees, across party lines, that the United States could be doing more along its border to keep illegal immigrants out. The view was shared by 78 percent of the respondents.
Well, considering that the Federal government doesn’t seem to be doing anything to keep illegal immigrants out at the moment, any attempt to do so would “be doing more.”
As Don Surber notes, “There is far more support for Arizona’s immigration law than there is Obamacare.” Ouch.

For those who oppose this bill: What you should be calling for is WORK permits for those without criminal records.
If you oppose it… think about the thousands of Legal citizens unable to obtain work–because illegals will work for less and have no tax consequences.
If you Support SB 1070– still call for Work Permits for those without a criminal record–plus mandatory payments towards medical and support services expenses (often having to be supported only by legal citizens) etc., etc.

It’s staggering when the Pres of the USA implies that citizens have more to fear from police than from the thousands of violent criminals among the illegals (not to mention the tens of thousands of petty criminals). Political bullies around the nation are trying to intimidate Arizonans into asking their elected officials to back down on the enforcement laws they have been enacting the last few years.
It is important to the entire nation that Arizona hold firm as a model of what a state can do to reduce its illegal population. As many as 25% of illegal aliens in Arizona may have left the state during the last couple of years, and its voters and officials are determined to keep the outflow continuing.
Wouldn’t a 25% drop in the illegal population of your state be fantastic!
The most important action would be for your state to adopt Arizona’s mandatory workplace verification law. But another good way would be copying the latest law that helps local police detect and detain illegal aliens. Perhaps its most important contribution is that illegal alien leaders and local news media tend to become hysterical and scare a lot of illegal aliens into fleeing the state.
