A quick memo to the young Hispanic man and the young black lady sitting at the bus stop on the busy corner of Burnet Rd. at W. Anderson Ln — the ones who were sitting there openly and brazenly smoking a joint like it was legal or something.

As I was sitting at the red light just a few feet from you, being assaulted by the stench of your skunky weed, I couldn’t help but think that — maybe, just maybe — the reason you were each wearing fast food uniforms and riding the CAP METRO to your barely-above minimum-wage “careers” might just have something to so with the dope smoking.

And the fact that you’re flaunting your disregard for the law so brazenly makes me believe that you’re both too stupid to do anything else meaningful with your life.

Good luck with all that. And no thanks, I wouldn’t like a side of fries with that.

  1. Have you seen the video floating around about the 2nd Circuit COA nominee, Robert Chatigny? He’s the one who tried to block a serial killer’s execution. He threatened Ross’ atty with disbarment if he didn’t file a motion for a stay when even Ross didn’t want to fight it.

Chatigny believed that Michael Ross, who kidnapped 8 women and girls, was the “least culpable” of all death row inmates, because, he feels, a tendency towards sexual sadism as he had should be a mitigating factor, not merely against the death penalty, but conviction, too.

If he believes sexual sadism is a mitigating factor, then he would have to believe pedophilia is also a mitigating factor. Unbelievable.

  2. No…I am shocked at that anyone in Austin was openly smoking a joint! Don’t these people know that you are only suppose to do that during Eeyore’s Birthday Party in Pease Park? I am just shocked! /sarc

The saying in Austin is “Keep Austin Weird.”

The saying in the rest of Texas is “Keep the Weird in Austin.”

    • LOL…not like there’s not a Gas Pipe on every corner.

      • LOL…not like there’s not a Gas Pipe on every corner.

No, but there is a homeless person on every corner begging for a handout!

  3. what the fuck is so wrong working in a fast food joint i have to do it long hours shit pay, its beter than fuckin welfare times are hard, needs must when the devil drives

  4. Kinda weird to associate pot smoking with working fast food. I have many tard-ass friends in Austin that smoke pot and work for Dell. Just b/c someone rides the bus doesn’t make them a loser either. More people should ride the bus. Sorry Robbie, i usually agree with you but can’t in this case. Think you got too upset by the situation when you posted.

  5. Sorry, correction to earlier post: They may have been wearing FF uni’s but the fact still remains that MANY successful people in Austin smoke the skunk. Guess I just don’t see the big deal (besides being ilegal). I’d rather alcohol be illegal.

    • Haley — if you’re off work for the day (or on the weekend), aren’t going to be driving (yes…smoking dope impairs your ability to operate a motor vehicle), and are in your home or in someone else’s private home…by all means. Light up.

      I could care less.

But on your way to work? I doubt that your dope-smoking friends who work at Dell show up to work baked.

      • Robbie..totally baked out of their minds? No.
mildly so? absolutely. I know, or rather knew…any number of people who worked for Dell, Compaq, HP and a few other companies here in H-town that work for Microsoft; who lit up daily. generally on their lunch breaks and after work.

As to the two on the bus bench in broad daylight and plain view? Admittedly not the brightest thing to do.

      • Sadly, yes, they DO get baked before going to their corporate jobs.

  6. It is the audacity of using an illegal substance in public in braod daylight that was the trigger. Plus, it is a good assumption that they were on their way to working under the influence….that just makes you them dull witted employees.
    Stupid.

  7. I hate typos.

    • *grin* so do I. I got tired of stressing about it and stopped letting typos worry me so much.
