With thanks to Jonah Goldberg for recalling Pres_ent Øbama’s comments on the value of science, another example of his feckless and ideology driven term in office has emerged.

Hence, his administration would “make scientific decisions based on facts, not ideology.” This language was a carryover from the presidential campaign, when all of the Democratic candidates bemoaned the Neanderthalic “Republican war on science,” to borrow a phrase from a popular liberal book.
~~~~~~~~
At his inauguration, he pledged, “We will restore science to its rightful place.”
~~~~~~~~
Fast-forward to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The White House issued a blanket moratorium on deepwater oil drilling. Obama cited a report commissioned by the Interior Department that purported to recommend the ban.

“The recommendations contained in this report,” declared the document, “have been peer-reviewed by seven experts identified by the National Academy of Engineering.”

Except that was untrue.
~~~~~~~~
But it is bordering on the grotesque to handpick scientists to give you an opinion and then lie about what they actually said, and implement a policy they don’t endorse.
We now know, from too many examples to list, what a pathological liar Pres_ent Øbama is. In this case, being reminded of his statement that he would “make scientific decisions based on facts, not ideology” is a reminder of how amazingly consistent he is with his prevarications.
If science actually had such an important position in this administration, then one of the top five physicists in the country, an expert called in by the Department of Energy to assist in resolving the BP oil spill, should be an example of that importance.
Right?
No, it is an example of how ideologically driven this administration is.
This particular physicist, Dr. Jonathan Katz, was removed from the panel of experts for purely ideological reasons; he had made personal postings on his website in opposition to homosexuality and the diversity movement.
“Dr. Chu has spoken with dozens of scientists and engineers as part of his work to help find solutions to stop the oil spill,” a statement from the Energy Department said. “Some of Professor Katz’s controversial writings have become a distraction from the critical work of addressing the oil spill. Professor Katz will no longer be involved in the Department’s efforts.”
Therefore his skills in his field of science are irrelevant, obscured by his personal beliefs, at least according to this administration.
In upside down world this is a compelling argument.
In this disconnected administration, ideology and political calculations are all that matters.
Oh, and golf.
  1. I’m sure ALL presidents have ended up with broken promises
    but, in this case it seems lies, twisted facts and in-your-face
    ‘f**k you’ are a springboard for this despicable mis-administration.
  2. A recent example of the lies and deception from this administration is found in the lawsuit by the DOJ.
    Obama Admin. Argues in Court That Individual Mandate Is a Tax.
    Put another way, the administration is now arguing in federal court that Obama signed a massive middle-class tax increase, in violation of his campaign pledge.
    We even had some Øbamabots come in here and proclaim a mandate wasn’t a requirement.
      Gee…I’m so surprised…
      But the losers that came out in huge amounts that voted for this marxist don’t read or know any of this nor do they care..most do not work for a living and are accepting of socialism (like they even know what that word means).
  3. I think someone’s head would look good with a 9-Iron DENT in it…but would he notice.
  4. And they gave Bush so much hell for sitting there 7 minutes when 9/11 occurred..or the 4 days to get to New Orleans….
    Any griping about this horrible and notably much longer delay in responding to this national crisis liberals?
    (sound of crickets)
    • Not from the Obamabots roaming free in the MSM and out in the country, no.
      And you won’t hear anything from those who get their ‘reliable’ source of information from the AP and MSM, nope.
