Just so there’s no doubt of confusion about it, I fully support Israel in any/all efforts to defend themselves from the Arab world that will not rest or be appeased until Israel is wiped from the face of this planet.
And that includes this weekend’s defense against the Flotilla that was trying to breach the blockade. If you honestly believe that those ships were filled with “peace” and “aid” workers, rather than with militant jihadists, then you are a pawn and fool.
As Greg at Rhymes with Right points out (via Soccer Dad), “the attempt to stop the blockade runners was legal under international law. According to The San Remo Manual on International Law Applicable to Armed Conflicts at Sea, 12 June 1994:”
SECTION V : NEUTRAL MERCHANT VESSELS AND CIVIL AIRCRAFT
Neutral merchant vessels
67. Merchant vessels flying the flag of neutral States may not be attacked unless they:
(a) are believed on reasonable grounds to be carrying contraband or breaching a blockade, and after prior warning they intentionally and clearly refuse to stop, or intentionally and clearly resist visit, search or capture;
The Flotilla captain clearly announced their intentions of running the blockade, which — after repeated warnings by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to alter their course — clearly justified any and all actions taken by the Israelis to protect their country.
And after watching the video of the attacks by the “peace” workers, who were clearly armed and prepared to fight, the combatants aboard the Flotilla ships are lucky that the IDF didn’t simply sink all the boats on the spot (with all aboard). Perhaps that is what they should do the next time.
Of course the World Media and our own national anti-Israel media are condemning Israel and portraying the jihadists as the “victims.” Which is interesting. And not true. (You like that, Kemo?)

President Bush would have publicly and unambiguously asserted our nation’s support of Israel and her rights to defend herself. President Bush would have condemned the jihadists who were trying to breach Israel’s blockade.

Based on what I have read and heard, five of the ships in the flotilla actually complied and went to Ashdod. This ship was the only one not to comply and forced the issue.
