Tonight, 6 Jun 10, is the premiere of the History Channel series, Top Shot. The hyperlink will take you to the program website and includes all episode info.

Here is a brief description:

Sixteen of the nation’s most skilled marksmen have been carefully selected to compete for the title. Some have professional shooting experience, some are amateurs–and all will showcase breathtaking timing, speed and accuracy in their quest to win the $100,000 prize package and the title of “Top Shot.” The winner will ultimately have to be skilled in everything from muzzle-loading muskets and modern pistols to slingshots and throwing knives.

Each week, contenders will face both team and individual elimination challenges until one winner remains. Every challenge will focus on the weapons, technologies and techniques of different historical eras as high-speed HD cameras capture the skillful execution of each test in extreme slow-motion.

What a great idea for a show!
This country was founded on marksmanship, which allowed a poorly equipped and outnumbered Colonial Army/Militia to defeat the most feared military power of its time.

If you enjoy the shooting sports as I do, then we have something to look forward to on several coming Sunday nights.

I am so there!

  1. This looks really good!
    Thanks for the info!

  2. missed the original airing at..8pm I think it was…so I stayed up and watched the repeat at 1am. Pretty good..though there are already one or two people on the red team I’d like to kick in the head. ‘it’s not his fault his spotter sucked’ was the jist of one of the comments after the team competition. Uhmm excuse me? Point of order..who was the one behind the rifle who fired 30 f’ing shots down range at the target and missed the bullseye with every single one? Yeah that’s what I thought.

    • That is the same thought I had.
He was just spraying and praying and not even getting on target for his spotter to direct him. Sure his spotter wasn’t any good, none of them were, they were all shooters of different disciplines. What I found odd is, none of them knew to tell the spotters to throw the scope slightly out of focus so they could see the flight path of the round..
Not a big fan of the “survivor” reality aspect, but I must admit that the final shootout to eliminate the red team guy was pretty good. That young shooter is good and knew how to reference his previous point of aim, unlike the guy he eliminated.

  3. the kid is good..no doubt about that. :)

    • Yes he is, as a long range gunner.
It will be interesting to see the various skill sets play out.
I doubt the kid is any good as a pistolero or on a front stuffer.
