John at Powerline has this exactly right:

It’s funny how the political class is always wringing its hands about the potential for violence at Tea Party rallies, while 100% of the actual violence and intimidation that take place at political events is committed by union goons.

This is clearly assault, just as surely as Rep. Bob Etheridge committed an assault against a young college student on a public sidewalk. Which also means that Liberal pundits and bloggers will ignore it, downplay it, or applaud it.

  1. I don’t think those big burly guys are really nurses. What do you think?

  2. So, you’re saying that Liberal pundits will either be indifferent, react negatively, or react positively to this video?

    Uh…are there other options?

    • No, I don’t believe that’s what he said.

      What he said was:

Liberal pundits and bloggers will ignore it, downplay it, or applaud it

    • Downplaying these actions is not the same response as reacting negatively to them. When we downplay something, we attempt to minimize the importance of it. When we react negatively, it could mean any number of responses, including inappropriate behavior.

The “other option” would be to unequivocally condemn these actions as inappropriate and unacceptable. To speak out against these actions demonstrates an unwillingness to condone such behavior either explicitly — by applauding it — or implicitly — by ignoring it or downplaying it.

  3. I’ve seen a lot more video clips of union thugs intimidating people than tea partiers intimidating anyone.

    • Not in the least. However, alternative lefty media has been found to be regularly dishonest. It’s become a game to show how they are lying — this time.

      • Asshat: I never said anything you claimed I said nor has anyone else. Do you always blatantly lie?

      • Well, there’s mainstream, and then there’s mainstream.

Fox is part of the mainstream. The conservative part to be sure, but mainstream nonetheless.

When discussing TV news, it’s important to remember what the real purpose of TV news is: like any other business venture, the purpose of TV news is to make a profit. In the case of TV, they make money by selling advertisements. So in reality, the real purpose behind Fox News is exactly the same as the purpose behind Friends, Star Trek: The Next Generation, or The Suite Life of Zach & Cody. And that is, to entice you to watch the commercials. Not that that’s necessarily a bad thing; that’s just the nature of business. But you will never see or hear anything on Fox (or any other network) that is contrary to their mission; the mission of making money.

In business, if you have a product that no one else offers, you have a better chance of success than if you are trying to sell the exact same thing as everyone else. Fox recognized that all the other news networks were offering essentially the same product, and so they made a business decision to offer something different. It is undeniable that, from a business standpoint, it was a wise decision.

But anyone who says that Fox News is doing what they do as some sort of quest to save the world from liberals is being more than a little naive.

      • Asswipe: You said it in response to my comment. Why the fuck day it at all? Do you always try to back pedal when you are called out for being a lying asshole?

      • Colin: Nobody said fucking anything about Fox News or mainstream media except the troll. Nice strawman. You fell for it.

      • Asswipe: You said it in response to my comment. Why the fuck say it at all? Do you always try to back pedal when you are called out for being a lying asshole?

      • Asswipe: You were attempting to hijack the thread with your bullshit.
You were caught in a lie.

        You calm down, jackass.

        • He go *poof* now.
I’ll check the spam for your missing comment.
*update* Checked and it’s not there.

        • Thanks. I thought he might be you-know-who back again.

        • You had him spotted alright, a pathological liar.

        • His true persona always oozes out.

        • NO2, its kind of funny to come in and read the comments if you weren’t here to read the other ones before they went *poof*. It looks like Anon is arguing with himself. Anyways, its good to know that you are keeping the loon at bay.

  4. Colin: Nobody said fucking anything about Fox News or mainstream media except the troll.
