UPDATE: Just got back from the 30 minute speech by Gov. Perry after his (brief) meeting encounter with President Obama. Seemed rather solemn and serious in his discussion of border security (with good reason).
I’ll have a separate post up later video of the event. Unfortunately, Gov. Perry left without taking any questions from the small audience — otherwise I would have asked why he talked exclusively about “security” and no mention of immigration (legal).

Thanks to an invite from my friend David at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, I’m attending the Lone Star Issues Lecture series this afternoon in Austin, where Gov. Rick Perry will discuss border security.
It’s no coincidence that Gov. Perry is meeting with us to discuss border security on the same day that President Obama is in town raising funds (for Democrats who are too afraid to be seen/photographed with this extremely unpopular President).
Gov. Perry has been begging for a meeting with Obama to discuss border security, since the Federal government has made it abundantly clear that border security is their responsibility — even though they have no interest whatsoever in actually doing anything to secure our borders from the flood of illegal immigrants and criminal activities).
Obama relented somewhat, once he figured out that Texas Democrat candidates were avoiding him like Rosie O’Donnell avoids healthy foods and exercise, to allow Gov. Perry to meet him briefly between the few steps he takes off of Air Force One on his way to his waiting Limo. I think Gov. Perry will likely just welcome Mr. Obama to Texas, and then hand him a letter with Gov. Perry’s thoughts on securing our border and illegal immigration.
Hopefully Gov. Perry will talk to us about his exchange with Mr. Obama at the airport, and expound on what was in the letter he hands him.
I’ll have an update later after the short (half hour) meeting with Gov. Perry.

And how would he do that anon? Would Bill get up there and talk about his part Time Jobs that pay 2 mil while he is mayor? His support of gun control groups before he was against them (because Sharp called him out on it and caught him in a lie, not the narrative that he did it himself)? If you want to live in a state with the exact same failed policies that Bill White wants to bring to Texas, you are free to move to California at any time.
