Here’s a huge shocker (HUGE, I’m telling you…) — another member of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) steered CBC scholarship money directly to relatives. I know…incredibly hard to believe, right?
First it was Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX), who just paid back $31K to the CBC Scholarship fund after getting busted giving money directly to her grandchildren and the children of her aides (And I do mean directly — turns out that Johnson used her position to ensure that the money didn’t go to the kids’ schools, which is standard, but rather that the kids got the cash directly).
And now we have Rep. Sanford Bishop (D-GA), who awarded three CBC scholarships to his step-daughter and his wife’s niece.
Crooks and cheats. Every last one of them. They don’t believe the rules apply to them…because…well, the rules DON’T apply to them…
Each CBC member is giving $10,000 annually to dole out to scholarship applicants.
How many more members of the CBC do you think steered their $10K directly to their own relatives or the kids of friends, staff, cronies, and donors? I’m guessing EVERY SINGLE ONE of THEM. I’d bet dimes to nickles that in every single instance, that money went directly to connected (by blood or politics) people long before it went to deserving people.
Oh, and just to be fair and to ward off the automatic screams of RAAAAACIST!, there should be a thorough investigation into how the Congressional White Caucus doled out their scholarships, too. Wait…what?

I’m shocked! Add to the CBC ethically-challenged list Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) who still refuses to answer if taxpayers paid for her trip to Michael Jackson’s funeral last summer. Quite the nefarious group they are! Despicable.
