Victor Davis Hanson: “President Obama came close, but he still just cannot admit that his radical policies and their effects on the economy are the cause of his devastating political rebuke.”

I gotta disagree with you, Victor — I don’t think Obama came even close to close during his poor-pitiful me speech yesterday. Remember, shortly after this speech, he’s jumping on a plane (a bunch of planes, helicopters, and war ships, too) and heading off to India for 10 days. At a cost of $200 million. Per day.

Fucker.

Had not some zealots talked of possible 90-to-100-seat gains, the Democrats would be in greater shock today at the near-historic 60+ House pick-up, along with a stunning near sweep of state legislatures and governorships, as well as gains in the Senate — and all a mere 21 months after the beginning of hope and change. The idea that we are going to copy EU socialism is dead. So is Keynesian massive borrowing. So is the promised second wave of Obamism, such as cap-and-trade and blanket amnesty. Obama’s supporters can brag that erstwhile absolutely safe senior Democratic senators like Boxer and Reid managed to get reelected, but they must understand that Obama’s vision and his method of enacting it simply turned off the vast majority of the country.

  4. Being my typical curmudgeonly self, I am compelled to dissent, at least in part.

“the idea that we are going to copy EU socialism”

    “Keynesian massive borrowing”

    “cap-and-trade and blanket amnesty”

None of these is dead. They have been slapped down hard, but the unfortunate truth is that they cannot be killed; they are going to come back.

The worst thing that could happen now would be for we conservatives to simply pat ourselves on the back and say, “Mission accomplished.” The mission is most definitely not accomplished, nor can it ever be completely accomplished. What happened Tuesday was a good beginning, nothing more.

All of the newly elected U.S. Representatives are going to be tempted to compromise, to “go along to get along”. The system encourages this. Our task is to prevent them from giving in to that temptation.

    • They may not be dead, but they are in triage.

      Good piece by J.R. Dunn.
Tuesday’s Election Was a Vote to Bring the 19th Century to an End.

It is a good thing that the universe is not a mechanism. It is a good thing because political rationalism has developed into one of the most destructive forces in human history. Rationalist political systems are the equivalent of natural catastrophes such as plague, earthquake, or an asteroid strike. During the 20th century, rationalist politics killed well over two hundred million people under such regimes as the Soviets, the Maoists, and the Khmer Rouge, along with social-nationalist offshoots such as the Nazis and the Italian Fascists.

  5. And this is relevant to this post how?

    Go away.

  6. Nothing he says is relevant to anything other than his psychosis, which is why he goes *poof*
