Dec 222010
The Associated Press (AP)’s Top 10 Stories of 2010 are:
- The BP Gulf oil spill — would not be in the top spot if it wasn’t for the way Obama completely mismanaged the crisis.
- Obamacare — perhaps the biggest story of the year for Democrats, as it set off a ripple effect (see #3 and #6, and also #4)
- The shellacking Democrats took in November, in large part because of #2 on this list.
- The failed economy — see #3
- The Haiti earthquake
- The Tea Party Movement — see #3
- Chile mine rescue
- The draw down of combat troops in Iraq
- Wikileaks
- The war in Afghanistan (also known as Obama’s war)
Here in the US, I’d say the biggest story was the Tea Party movement. Worldwide, it might be Wikileaks. My order for the top three stories of the year would be:
- Tea Party Movement
- November elections
- It’s the economy, stupid
What do you think was the biggest story of the year? Any that didn’t make the list?
I’d add the Ft. Hood shootings by Major Nidal Hasan to my top ten list (in place of the Chile mine rescue)
